Man that sucks... :( Wish I could pass on my smooth sailing, I've never had a single mini-dump... no matter what version. Then again, I've only played a handful of online games, never have time to play online.
PCA-10 Tank
That game still rocks! :) Other than a tic-tac-toe game for the C64 some of the originals that I had played for my PC was A-10 Warthog, Zork, Stellar-7, Stunts (w00t!), Scorched Earth (still play it once in a while), Wolfenstein 3D, SimCity (Shift-FUNDS hehe), Doom, Duke Nukem 3D (BEST Multiplayer Game EVER FPS), WarCraft (I & II)

I think some experience could be gained by damage taken (10% say). Everyone learns from their mistakes, not just their victories. Experience learned from damage dealt should benefit office abilities, experience learned from damage taken should benefit defensive abilities. The experience learned from damage taken could only be obtained by repairing the damage. This way you just can't level up by getting shot, you have to 1) survive 2) recover. This way, even structures can benefit from r

I think the Borg already add balance to themselves by the way they expand in a particular area. The idea of assimilating ships and planets works really well for their growth (and limits how powerful they can get based on who/what they acquire along the way). From a ship stand point, they don't have many different designs, but this is a good thing really. The Borg can acquire other ships as they fight, one ship becomes two, two become four, and so on. So if you only have 10 Cap-ships/Cubes (and a

In a world where ruthlessness reins supreme, the only solution is to make examples of the offending crew... execute them! MUHAHAHAHA!!!

LOL @ OP... Trash talk not worth it anymore? Just not feeling it? Even if it's rather cheap and unsportsmanlike? Perhaps you would get more out of the game by playing with the goal of contributing, rather than detracting? The world is full of trash talkers... SHUT-UP AND PLAY... nuff said.

Sounds like a registry key that was supposed to be written to indicating that the game was installed correctly may not have full write access. Hollow Man's idea sounds like it would work, if it does, just create a shortcut to it on your desktop. Might have to do some digging in the registry and find out what constitutes as "installed" by the games definition.

I would check your settings in your graphics card control panel. Sometimes if they are "optimized" for performance the drivers will over-ride the in-game settings to shave off a few effects to increase performance. Check to make sure that a custom video profile is not loaded, normally you have the option to "Restore defaults" in many of those cases.

Are you sure your not opening the Autorun.ico file? I don't have the CD version (I downloaded mine) but many CD's will have a setup.exe or \install\autorun.exe or something similar on the disc. Right click on the Autorun file and go to properties, verify that the file is indeed an executable. The other issue may be that your DVD is having trouble reading, a good way to know is to click on the Start button go to Run, type "eventvwr" and check over your event logs for errors (i.e CD drive

I like the pirates, I just wish there fleet was larger though (especially late game)... I played a game the other day and placed a 150K bounty on a computer opponent and was of course greatful when the computer reciprocated the bounty in return because I always see it as a way to level up my caps. The problem is that the pirate fleet never seems to get any bigger than the size of a 30K bounty fleet. On my custom maps I always make sure to put at least 1 pirate base for every player This way

Ever play Chess and surrender because know your going to lose due to a mistake you made 5 moves ago? Check mate in 5 moves... Well, I'd quit if I saw that it would be impossible for me to win (a better player could turn it around, that's why we have replays). I agree with the comments about "what's the point of playing out another 3 hours of a losing battle" ONLY if you're the last person on your team. Now quitting when you can still help your friends is pointless. Let's s

redwing may be right. I would try just one game where both of your PCs are connected directly to the modems. I have an odd issue on BNet where if my brother or myself host a game we can't join UNLESS we join someone else's first, very strange.

I think the surface to space defense systems of [link="http://www.planetarion.com/"]Planetarion[/link] work really well (ION Cannon ect). I know Planetarion is all about stats and what-not but that game has some truly epic battles when it comes to the numbers!

What if you could engage an "Action Stations" Mode where all of your structures temporarily lower production and switch to a pseudo defensive installation. I'm pretty sure if the objective in the game is to kill your enemy and I was a citizen of working on ore refinery, I'd want to have access to a cannon if someone started shooting at me (even if it was wimpy one). And if your culture is so advanced, to the point of interstellar travel (and you are surrounded by potential hostiles) can't you fi
Would pretty much eliminate the whole "chokepoint" ideology... Not to mention would be crazy hard to implement on multiple star systems.
This is why an option to enable or leave it off would be nice, just like turning off Pirate Raids. Not sure how it would change Multi-Star System's really; you would phase jump to/from the star, so it would be the same method except for the movement of the plants. Hey All, I was thinking of one major thing that could change the way the game plays out in terms of strategy (due to planet location). I know the game does not have this as an option, but wouldn't it be interesting if the planets orbited about the sun instead of just sat static on the map
