Thanks DrJBHL, good advice. I'm going to print out for bed time reading. Not going to get in a hurry. Microsoft Office 2007 is already messed up, said i needed to activate and that failed on Internet and telephone. said it was not a valid product key, got it from Microsoft Launch Tour 2007 many years ago and has never had an authentification issue before.

Island dog, Afraid my subscription ran out last December. worth renewing?
Thanks PO, I still have my Object Desk 2008 CD as well as downloaded archives.
yes sorry I should have stated. Going from XP Pro 32-bit to Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
Hello, It has been over a year since I used Object Desk on my XP Pro computer because it was failing badly. I have used a program called PCMover to move all my application installs and data files to a brand new Windows 7 Professional computer. I haven't started any of the programs yet as I wanted to come here first. So do we still use Impulse to update Object
Sorry to say I have had problems using Systmetrix also with XP pro. Uninstalling and re-installing has helped in the past. sorry to say I finally uninstalled it for the final time.
I use Eset Nod32 and Comodo on my XP Pro SP3 workstation and we use Microsoft Security Essentials on my wife's Windows 7 notebook. We have dialup so the Eset is better for updating than the Microsoft Essentials. Takes 10 minutes for the Nod32 and many hours for the Microsoft Essentials
Ahhhh! nVidia I have worked on one of my CAD users for almost two weeks before we finally figured out the problem was the hidden firewall in nVidia. HP xw9400 workstation XP Pro 64bit with nvidia Quadro FX 3500 video card and may drivers. Event viewer showed multiple DCOM Event ID 10016 and the computer would start locking up after three or four hours. Especially right after lunch. Check the Event Viewer for DCOM errors. Look in Add/Remove to see if you have: “nVidia Forceware Network
Kinda late to this, but by any chance are any of you that have or had this problem running Sysmetrix? I changed my config on sysmetrix and my Fences and all Icons disappeared just like what some of you reported. I contacted the author of Sysmetrix, but he had no other complaints. so I uninstalled Sysmetrix and my Fences came back. then I re-installed Sysmetrix and so far everybody is cooperating nicely. XPSP3
What really counts is what your computer recommends in virtual memory I have 2@4GB RAM and my Computer\Properties says I have 2.96GB no shared video. Click on the advanced tab and then Perormance Settings tab, and again the advanced tab. What does it recommend for Virtual Memory? Y
Using Mailwasher with XP Pro SP3 and OD, no problems here either. People like to send all their cute 4mb pictures to my dialup account. With mailwahser i can avoid a 2 hour or more download of this stuff. I'll vote with ERK Footnote: Vista SP2 JUST came out and needs to prove itself first.
format and re-install should be required in XP annually or less, depending on how much you install and uninstall stuff. Have you tried: SFC /SCANNOW to reinstall your dlls that might have been damaged? This should find your windows disk in it's partition. MS offers: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318378 You can also try Fred Langa's no Format re-install of XP, you lose nothing. You can
Most Dimensions have only two memory slots and the case is terrible. Not designed to use a non-Dell motherboard. In addition they have a very small PSU. Donate it and start over.
Revanito, I came to the forum to post about Deskcapes myself. Supposedly 2.5 will run with an AGP card if your drivers are new enough (December I believe). I have a Radeon 9600 256MB AGP 4x card with the March 2009 drivers. i tried to run deskcapes last night from fully updated XPSP3 and fully updated Object Desktop. the application said cannot be run on XP, I tried anyway and it just hour glassed. Do you perchance have an AGP video card also? <p
My favorite back then was wire and glass by PaulEric. Awesome blind. Thanks again Paul
I fixed my problem by turning off Beta and re-installing. Apparently I still had it active from downloading fences. Not sure if the version you are talking about is beta or not, but definitely turn it off it is to avoid problems like this. the don't call it beta though. Not at home now, but i think it is "Prerelease" or something similar.
Wow, less than an hour and four responses. Thanks guys I'll give it a whirl. Monitor should be here today or tomorrow.
Hi, I have been a single 19" LCD (not wide screen) monitor person for some time, and I just ordered a 22" wide screen pivot-able for a second monitor. Planning on using it vertical for Word & Outlook. It has occurred to me that there may be a problem setting this second monitor up as far as desktop resolution. My video card is a Sapphire 9600 with dual DVI so connections aren't the issue. So I am wondering what everyone uses to set resolution on disparate mon
I had the same issue last May, check out: https://forums.wincustomize.com/310420 Sorry to say I got out of it using SDC. I just updated with Impulse and am seeing the same thing as yo are. Rebooting brings the same screen back up and I cannot start WB. Should add I am using XP Pro SP3
I’m waiting until Windows 7 to get an SSD drive. With 12GB of memory and the fact I never reboot (or very rarely) means that everything I might possibly do on the machine will get cached. I’ve learned that from my ThinkPad T400. 64-bit with lots of RAM trumps SSDs in terms of day to day performance.
Speaking of SSD, check this out: <img src="http://www.techspot.com/fileshost/newspics2/2009/corsair-ssd.jpg
Neil/Ausvet, I may buy myself a present and renew my Object Desktop. It expired and we have been strapped. Just re-financed at 4 7/8% no points. whew. The lawyer said it was the lowest rate he had ever done a closing on PTL
Lantec, I remember now. It used to be here and it got moved to http://forums.impulsedriven.com/ The WAN I am on blocks it. Your request was denied because of its content categorization: "Computing/Internet;Games" so I can only access from home. LOL
I downloaded and installed v 0.92 Thursday. Installed without issue and quickly set about corralling my desktop, I love it. I used the command to group my icons. I'll check it out further this weekend. First impression, it's a keeper
I had several issues with Impulse install this week and may have been due to the maintenance on that server. I thought I would look in the Impulse forum and it doesn't seem to exist anymore?
I picked it up this morning, hoping I won't have to purchase Visio. Only eleven hours left to activate guys.
