Just took a look at it and I love the little Mod PDF file you included. Very easy and simple to read to give an overview of a view things. I wish more companies did something like this. Only other mod manual from the games I have played was for FarCry with the sandbox editor manual. Cant wait for what other things you will give us. Keep up the great work. :CONGRAT:
Shadow__Warrior
Yay, checking them out now.
AI doesnt seem to deal with the metal/crystal extractors in asteroid belts and the such (off the top of my head I dont think I have seen them take one). When I capture them, they simply ignore the fact that they are there. I had some in there territory and could see the fleets moving about, however they never did capture them.
Wow. And here I though that culture was totally pointless. Need to keep that in mind.
What is the point with launching Sins with steam? Isnt it easier to simply click the shortcut rather than open a program that will let you open Sins? Seems a bit counterintuitive to me.
Thats some pretty good modeling. Modeling for games isnt too difficult. You want to try and create your object in the fewest number of polygons as possible and still look good. This allows the game to run faster and more smoothly. To get the rest of the detail, textures help to provide finer detail that has more subtle lines that look to appear 3d but are in fact 2d.
Jeez, I would think that people could wait a few days for the mod tools. It isnt like its the end of the world. Just enjoy Sins, play other games, work on your mod idea. The tools will get here when they get here. There isnt anything you can do to make them hurry up.
However, what happens when your opponent controls 15 planets while you control 8. There is no way you can produce enough ships to counteract the number of ships the opponent has. They can simply steamroll over you with superior numbers.
It will certainly be nice to have a 3ds max exporter. Im more comfortable with max than XSI. I agree that it is great Ironclad/Stardock chose to use the free version of XSI. More companies who want to promote modding need to use free programs like these. That in the end makes the game last longer modding wise because the programs are free and easy to get.
That doesnt mean that there isnt someone out there who will do it for free. Some people like to do things simply because they are fun.
Go to research then fleet logistics. It will be on the bottom row in the fleet logistics tab.
I could really only see matchmaking working really well for 1v1. But what about the options? Each person would have there own preference for research speeds and game speed etc. Then you would have to agree on a map for it to choose one. I just dont think that Sins is the game that this would work with. There are many variables that can make it difficult to get a match up.
more wrecks/wreckage would certainly add some needed detail for after battles. At the very least capital ships should have wrecks due to there size.
Very nice review. You can tell they certainly liked it.
The link seems to be broken. I must say though, Sins looks beautiful with everything cranked all the way. Love how the ships look with all the detail. Personally I really like the Advent designs.
Seems like the gamestops only got one copy. Mine only got one copy and it wasnt even out of the shipping box. Yet they got about 8 copies of Turok for the 360 :( . I would take a unique strategy game over generic first person shooter number 2035 any day.
I think that they want to make sure the game is running correctly before they shift some of there energy into the mod tools.
Hopefully the tools will come next week. I cant wait to get started on some modding. Have a great and unique idea in mind.
Gundam would be somewhat interesting as well. Although isnt it more focused on mobile suits rather than space ships?
I think that they are all easy to learn. It just comes down to what race earns your interest.
Hopefully they will be here sometime next week.
On the game splash screen click update game. or go to https://www.sinsofasolarempire.com/update.aspx
You can change the server in stardock central under tools > settings > internet.
Have you tried downloading from other servers?
I would LOVE a macross mod. The ships certainly would work very well with the sins engine. Not sure if you can have transformable fighters though. There are plenty of ships that can be used for the zentradi and the humans so there wouldnt be any lack of ships to choose from. Im all for it.
