In the Setting folder open the user.setting file. Change IsWatchedFilesOn FALSE to IsWatchedFilesON TRUE. Enjoy.
Don't stack. Edit: Note to self: Don't open so many threads in so many tabs that you'll be so late in answering a question.
The Snowball / 1C version of Sins is legit. However, it's currently best for Russian customers to obtain updates direct from Snowball so they get the latest localization files (we are not providing them).
Russia gets a release but the rest of Europe doesn't. How... strange. ;p
That wasn't a one time only thing either Seeing Blair or Craig post on the forums at 3-4 am in the morning wasn't unusual in beta or a bit post-release
Yeah, those guys sometimes got a bit (ok, not just a bit, quite a lot) crazy with their work hours. Thankfully they survived till this day. ;)
Scoooooooooooopu! :SURPRISED: Pretty bold move, dare I say. And nothing I've really expected.
Slow way: Go to each Novalith cannon and add it via the shift-key to a numbered control group. Fast way: Display all your planets via the empire tree. Press alt and select all novalith cannons. Add them to a numbered control group. Either way you can cycle through them with the tab-key. Just don't have stacked symbols activated in the empire tree, or you'll only select one novalith in each grav well (if you have multiple there).
is there any way u can giv your ai allys comands
Yep. Select a friendly AI ship or planet. You now have 3 options in the unit command menu. Defend, Attack and Cancel. With the Defend option you can give the AI the order to defend a planet (or ship). With the Attack option you can give the AI the order to attack a planet (or ship). With the Cancel option, you'll cancel the current order you have given the AI (attack or defend).<
Strange. Never had this happen to me. Is it reproducible? If yes, please upload a save game with the problem so that the devs can take a look at it.
1. Some of the abilities need to be fixed, like the Jam weapons for the Kortul Devastor and Flak burst for the Kol battleship. There are also other useless abilities that need to be fixed.
Are they broken, ie. don't work as described? Then yes, they need a fix. But if you're just complaining about them being underpowered/"useless", they don't need a fix, but need to be balanced. Fix=!Balance Pet peeve of mine. ;) [quote
I guess it's either buy a new vid card or return the game. Funny how a $45 game turns into a $145+ game so quickly. It's little wonder why folks are migrating to consoles...
Now that's just unfair. Sins works great with old hardware, unlike a lot of older games. But you just can't expect it to work with hardware that old. ;)
I just bought and loaded up this game and to my disappointment, I'm not seeing any of the fantastic visuals I saw in the screenshots. All I get are icon representations for the ships and planets.
Try zooming in. ;)
Yes, it's known bug. IIRC the workaround is to go into the game options (where you set stuff like research speed etc.) and lock the teams again, before you load a game. (Someone please corrects me a and give Scullbones a better explanation.) AFAIK that bug should be fixed for 1.04.
How about you give credit to the artist instead of copyright infringement?
I really sometimes wish I have moderator privileges, for banning you for this comment would be my pleasure. Accusing an artist of plagiarism without any evidence at all is the lowest one can do. You should apologize to TheOpticNerve for that. :( ---------------------------- @TheOpticNerve Great work! Though I have to agree with Chasington, the
I have seen since 1.0 that the AI is getting dumber and dumber.
No, the AI got a little bit better. Not much, though. But it surely didn't get worse. (Though the nerf in siege frigates made it's early rushes much less threatening, but that was a balance change, not an AI change.)
I would really like to know where the AI files are,
Inside the .exe, I would say. Ie. the AI is hardcoded and can't be changed.
Ah, I do see that now. I downloaded from FileFront, go figure. =p
Which actually shouldn't be possible anyway. So blame FileFront for uploading the patch without permission. :p
!!!BUG!!!
How about you choose a sensible post topic next time? ;) Yes, I'm sick of nonsensical post titles. I'm thinking the internet is exploding, when reading a post title like that... Please post a screenshot of what is happening. It's hard to say with the little bit of informations you give.
And the advent... I'm not sure how to define them.
Easy. ;) Shields and culture. Advent has the highest shield mitigation (4% trough research plus 6% through culture) and also the highest shields on ships. The Iconus Guardian's ability makes it even more pronounced. Also the Progenitor Mothership's Shield Regeneration ability is very strong. The Advent culture gives it easy intelligence on anything touched by its culture and Allure of Unity increases it
Congrats. Still agree with him, even after the 1.03 patch. ;)
Nope. Since there doesn't exist any animation for that.
Try using a mix of turrets and repair stations to defend against the pirates. The pirates dps and shield is quite low, so you should be able to kill them over time. Also station a capital ship there for easy experience.
But at the same time, I don't agree that elite level multiplayer issues are going to take precedence over, for instance, improving the computer AI or getting AI players to replace dropped players or making it easier to join multiplayer games.
That's why GalCiv3 also should be only singleplayer. Ah, don't hate me just because I'm lovely. ;)
AI players gang up against humans too much?
They do that? I thought it worked like GalCiv2 where each player (AI or human) is treated the same.
Sins forums are being DOS's. We're trying to track down the range of IPs and block them now.
Who the hell would want to do that? I can't imagine a reason why someone would want to DOS the forum... or did someone hate the balance in Sins so much? Joke.... ok, bad joke, sorry for that. But I had to say that... the voices... the voices demanded it! For the unity!
Yep, my own fleets retreat regularly. Running away is better than taking out a "few more ships" and losing a lvl 5+ capship (or two). Retreating is closer to human tactics than throwing units away, IMHO.
This of course can be true. But the problem is, the AI is still retreating so often, that it ends up having nothing to defend. ;) Also, it's no fun. Decisive battles are fun. Large battles to the complete annihilation of the enemy are fun. Bat
