I understand the need for it (lord knows it's helpped me out a couple of times), but also wondering how in the hell we're accomplishing it in the game world. How do we know that the pirates are amassing, when they're attacking, and who? A mod that hides and randomizes the timer, event card, and the sword would be a bit more realistic in this sense.

Well, I see the moon idea I had brought at least some fruit. Yeah, no moons...but still. As far as ideas. Here's some off the top of my head: Expert Ship builders (s): reduced ship building time Fertile Soil (d): Increased population limit Ancient Civilization (s, possibly artifact): Speeds up research And now that I finally got the sucker installed, time to dive in.

Yeah...but the idea of phase capeable strike craft brings up a whole other catagory of ships that can be produced. A capital ship is already able to rebuild and repair it's own sqadrons as needed, but imagine a carrier with it's compliment of 4 fighter groups being accompanied by 10 bomber squads. When the bombers reach a certain overall damage level (like 25%), they automatically dock with the closest capital with an open bay (whether it just doesn't have the ships yet or they're already out

I think I came up with a new name for you there KOSC....Mr. Bill for as often as you use the emote. Every time I see it I always think of that high pitched "OOOOooooh" that Mr. Bill does whenever something bad happens to him.

Ok...time for me to thow in two cents. The research tree could be a method to working through (wait for it) all the time lines. Starting from the early days of the republic all the way through to after the Battle of Endor and beyond. If we're going to talk about making a mod on a game as grand a scale as Sins, then lets talk about a mod as equaly grand scale. *grinz*

Agreed. It's frustrating how much potential something like this had and will now probably be forever lost because of one poorly conceived attempt. I say this in the hopes that someone out there will read this and incorperate at least parts of this idea in their game.

All this talk of moons and one method wasn't discussed here yet, and if it has...then chalk this one up as a vote in favor of it. In the code, each planet type has it's own set of values as far as current pop, max pop, etc. Moons could be a way of modifying the core planet, upping population max, adding logistic slots, and so on. In essence, making it a singular entity. How they would be visualized: They could be above and below the main playing plane that is already there as stat

Hehehe. I think we need to have a Thread catagory for posts such as these here. Very nice read. Definatly a flare for the megalodramatic (yeah I just made that one up).

Agree overall with the board here. I did however enjoy the ability to switch weapons pretty much on the fly. Yeah it took time for them to "grow" (very cool BTW but not to the potential it should have had) but you could have ships switch roles with but a few changes in it's gene makeup. It was very intuitive and original in this aspect. Too bat the rest of the game was a gigantic load of crap.

I'm mostly a MP on this game with me and a core group. I'm also the devoted Hiver. I dunno why, just the thought of being able to have 3 or 4 defence fleets within my web that can mop up any incoming fleets along with my wave of ramscooped gates as scouts is great. Yeah, it might slow me down in the long run as this particular tactic only works in the begining land grab, but it's just an interesting thought that these problem worlds get sucked into this intricate web then pounced upon by a mo

God... Talk about a monster post. Great work. Here's one gripe/complaint trying to keep with the general theme: Can we change the custom galaxy settings to be sliders instead of buttons? It's really annoying having to incessively click or right click to get to the extremes in the settings, esspecially if you mod the galaxy settings.

Yeesh...sleep much? And are you playing any MMOs on top of that? NEways I degress this thread from the topic at hand. I always thought we needed not only more planet types, but more space phenomenon in general. Like Nebula that while not exactly having it's one gravity well, can inhibit phase jumping, Different types of stars that have different effects (love the antimatter regen increase that was added BTW), Maybe even Black holes.

Yeah...but SINS makes me feel...I dunno...Evil. Like I'm a bad person for involving myself in mass genocide just so my faction can flourish across an entire galaxy....hehehehe. Mass Genocide...

Haven't had time to test this one out since the release of the latest patch, but I've got it slotted for this weekend and I'll keep my eyes open for it.

Granted. For a game like SOTS, 3D maps work because you have time to think about it, time to plan, time to keep from beeing too discombobulated by these 350 world galaxies. With SSE, we really don't since it's all in Real Time. While yeah, we're in space and there's this whole other dimention that's hardly used, it would add too much more complexity into a game of this scale.

They could have always cheated and had the platform be completly enclosed and door open to release the newly crafted ship.

There will be some stuff added that's just for show, and hundreds of other things that aren't , though you guys may not see it for the beta. There won't be things like hospitals and what not, however. There goes Sniper again. At least he was selective in his targets. <img src="http://images
