for all your judging pleasure
The Iron Engine is designed to perform well on systems ranging from middle-of-the-road hardware, to the biggest, most powerful machines on the market today. Effects, number of ships, planets etc. are only limited by how powerful your machine is. There are no hard-coded limits.
taken straight from the features page. yeah I see the allusion to modding, but nobody else considers this somewhat duplicitous?
Schod
astarax its 285 ships if you go purely frigates thats my first concern. second on "large maps" (we'll say of 40 planets) I plan on having more than 5 or 6 fleets, its what allows me to juggle several fronts at once while not being caught stagnant finally if the screenshots are any indication 300 ships will compose maybe 5 fleets, if you're lucky. that makes seriously large games (upwards of 100 planets) impossible.
Astax the effect on small maps isnt my concern, its about the fact that playing 300 ships (less if you have even a single cap) over 30 planets is 10 ships a planet, it makes larger maps prohibitively large part of the ENTIRE concept of this game was large battles on large maps going several at once, this completely SHATTERS that concept. I swear, the word "soft cap" has been used more times by the Devs than I can hope to count. its like counting rice, the fact that its removed
First off, go play a game yourself with 1000 or more ships and lead them into battle with another 1000, if you get frames around 60 then ill keep my mouth shut.
I dont need 60 fps to play, and having already done 700 at a decent clip, I have plenty of reason for concern. the motto has always been "if your rig can handle it", pfft. not anymore, apparently.
Once again you talk about something you have no idea of what you talking about.
see, thats whats
thats nice kosc, it was also said that I would have a say in the development of the game. "the game" doesnt exist anymore, what we've seen is basically a bare bones concept drawing, no more pertinent to the final product then a piece of steaming shit.
so calm down, and ask a DEV to explain or come on IRC tonight and hear why they did this... I am sure someone will ask...
trust me, I plan on it. the beligerant asking, not the chilling down.
multi if only I could reach through my screen and strangle you... no, a solid cap system is NOT required for ANY multiplayer games. as far as I'm concerned this is deceptive and downright bastardly. at hte VERY least there should have been some consulting to the majority, rather than just in inside decision. this may very well (and I'm 100% damn serious) cause me to withdraw my preorder. I invested in this game so that I could have a say in at least how it came out, now
Leibs the cap ships arent the issue, its the fleet point limit I'm worried about!
this seems to suggest that theres an absolutist fleet cap. is this true? because I swear I will pull all of your teeth if it is, and I'll make sure to take my time. :( ship cap has always been described as "unlimited" or "soft" because it can be exceeded if you have the hardware and the map for it, its one of the key things that went into my decision to purchase the ga
Astax he cant, he's got the most recent version. speaking of which: NOVALITH! Yay finally...
ah god! I cant see the novalith picture /extremely frustrated Edit: ok, looked at it on a different computer and it worked ^ ^ what I'm kindof iffy about is that: I dont see some giant laser cleaving its way through half the solar system to hit the vasari homeworld. 1) is it a laser/cannon? 2) can you actually see the projectile? because it would rather stink for the weapon to be in
Multi I cant wait until I crush you like the pathetic bug you are. :HOT:
But they will suck you real, real good if you saw them.
 physics jokes, nice.
I spent well in excess of $15k (and that does not interest payments of the credit card) on my workstation. Thus I fully expect to be able to do anything I can think of with it for that much money, short of sex - that would be in the $25k range methinks.
... I'm sparing you the not-so-witty-or-original comment about your obese/transvestite/supercentarian computer because it kicked the bucket. what I will ask is: where the HELL did you get 15k to spend on a c
Bust out the ban stick!!! You got lots of work to do here....
... I can make so many jokes about you with a man with a stick. alas yarlen would be upset with me, so I'll leave it up to imagination.
Here you are. Personally I prefer my 6 foot hockey stick of carbon fiber doom for beating on eets and co., but to each his own.
5 ft long sword?
gas giants are one in a series of neutral territories, they are there for purely strategic reasons. They are not for the purposes of settling, no more than the gaseous nebulas. besides, only a complete fool would invest on a planet destroyed by a single bomb.
comparing SotS to sins is a drastic misstep, the two are fundamentally different (primarily in that one is an RTS...) well in any case, the idea would not work. even on relatively low costs per jump the system would become extremely prohibitive for larger maps. additionally it would drastically lengthen the time it takes to build up, favor the turtle, amongst a dozen other issues I see with the game ttaargs if I'm not mistaken you're relatively new to the forums, and most likel
is this your sneaky way of preventing pirates from playing online?
wow linkes, you have really inspected eet's "car" havent you... thats kindof, um... gross?
It also looks like you don't start out with a cap ship factory(is the first cap ship still free?)
ew... uh, why?
This thread in NOT about my taste in ladies no matter how much it may appear that way to the untrained eye.
as sad as it is, spartan here is right... this post is not about his odd taste in women. in fact, it is not even about video cards or apples. No, this thread stands for
noticed long ago, thought you had found some wierd transexual-obese-supercentarian porn website with said appropriate smilies, so I didnt ask.
I like them far more tender, supple and juicy
as in severely obese? wow spartan, I think we've narrowed down your dream girl pool to severely obese transexual supercentarians with promenant adam's apples! you have an um... eclectic taste, exactly how many women have you found with all three catagories fulfilled?
like, until they're 90? that is your preference group, if I'm not mistaken.
:SURPRISED: oh, you got owned spartan... so owned...
my stuff shall protect me! *protects himself from the death Ray with his excessive amount of hairy junk* besides, all of Tesla's death Ray crap was omnidirectional, you would be fried to!
