:) I love pulling off stunts like these, but the only thing that struck me as odd was that this requires you severely outpowering him. My assumption is that if you forced him to retreat twice then you probably could have taken his fleet on defenses and all. (and thus his split might have been quite effective against you :P) but all in all an impressive scheme to prevent severe losses while inflicting many on him, I'm impressed

balanced combo, support ships as well as light frigs and heavy cruisers and flak and a few carriers tossed in for fun the thing about advent fleets is that each ship covers a specific job so well that you should have practically all of them.
Did you even play the PDS mod
yes, and while the motion was *improved* it was not made into "sporadic" motion of units, it was just better torking and slower decelerations.
About the Point Defence Systems mod, I thought we were talking about RTS games, not mods... or am I way off here?
also a completely valid point.
In this thread you repeatedly ask to show you any game at all where units move on their own
I apologize that I expect
This is what you wrote in your original post. I find the attitude quite puzzling, because people half the time will read the original post and comment on that. If your subsequent thoughts are so profound, update the original post. I for example, just read the first page.
read the word "small" it is there and it is blazingly obvious.
IMHO the nerf to siege frigates was a knee jerk reaction to the massive amounts of people who just bought the game and didn't know how

oh that is so not true, I've seen plenty of games (at least as many as the situation you described) in which the offensive cost the player too much resource and he was struck down by a counter attack which removed more than he even had a chance of getting in the first place. the game never really entered a rolling-stone situation, and it sure isnt as bad as the "fix" we got for it.
. It's not really noticable in vanilla Homeworld , but with some modifications such as in the PDS mod they zoom around the big ships and remain quite a threat.
even in PDS there really isnt sporadic motion of frigates.
COH: You wanted examples of games where units move on their own, so don't go crawling back when you're proven wrong. If a ga
there is almost no motion, sure they move to grab defense, but after that they just sit there again
So what do you think would be better?
leaving my testes where they were, instead of taking them and running around game-developing heaven screaming "YAY!!! you got so OOOOOOOooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwnnnnnnnneeeeeddddddddd!" aka they should have just tweaked the old system, instead of regurgitating this half baked concept...
Lets see, siege frigates do 2 dps to planets, so 4 of them would be 8 dps
frigates do far more than 8 dps, but even if
Any ship which wasn't a strike craft, including frigates, could be issued a "move while attacking" order. This was incredibly useful as you could keep firing at a target while physically moving your ships away from harm
and how is that different from sins? theres a move while attacking order here to, its something you can micro.
You still had to order the the frigates to move though. Most of the pepole here want the Victory Class Star Destroyer size frigates to wosh
Homeworld 2: Everything up to destroyers moves around a lot in combat, made even more prononced with the PDS mod. ORB: see Homeworld Nexus: The entire game centered around tactical starship combat. Anyone claiming capital ships don't move around in this one is simply blind, even battleships constantly roll and wave to bring weapons to bear and dodge fire. All done automatically, off course. Company of Heroes: Don't know which game you are playing, but in my copy of COH infan
BigBadB got the right idea on why the ship cap change was made.
doesnt mean the point is valid, now any game is caught in a situation akin to an endless restoring force equilibrium. its like trying to roll a boulder out of the grand canyon with your bare hands.
Hey Schod, I thought I remember you being against changes to the siege frigates before? Is this a change of mind?
no, you just completely misread everything I ever said on those threads. and
how is it trolling
agreed, I thought it was funny at least.
We're talking about photocopying a piece of paper someone else wrote
and archaism, dont forget archaism!
People often forget USA law isnt international law (Anyone remeber the piratebay incident lolz)
pfft, says who?
1)IMO siege sucks, easy to kill. You need at least 30 to kill a fortified planet! And even when you do, you still will probably lose all 30 on their way out! That's way more resources than it will cost the guy to re upgrade the planet!
you people do not listen...
Gez you people are a bunch of carebears, though the fleets caps should be more expensive past some level its too easy to build massive fleets and the PJI needs a rework
I disagree with this guy

now if ANY of you can find me a prolific game where all of the units move around sporadically for no other reason than to dodge fire, I'll bow down and kiss the floor. until then this thread is full of a bunch of trollmongering and name calling. the idea isnt feasible which is why its not implemented strike craft make an exception (ignoring for now that sins has them) because in all games any one side only as a few types, so double-clicking them is an easy solut
Company of Heroes, Homeworld 2, ORB, Nexus, Sword of the Stars, the flying units in all C&C games and in Supreme Commander
all wrong, with the exception of all the goddamn strikecraft.
Of course, now you're going to repy how you consider most of those examples to be strikecraft and that they don't count, but whatever
you read my mind... except that I got to reading yours first, dont make a comment that is inherently shot down. find me a game that has units that automatically move while firing (save strikecraft) there is not a SINGLE game that does this automatically, starcraft, supreme commander, command and conquer, nothing. any idiot who thinks this game is going to be different has got to be smoking something. theres a reason that NO game has automated unit movement. now if you want to micro the units FINE, but do it YOURSELF you lazy turd. quote me to whatever forum you got that from.
