I'm an uber pirate. I hail from South East Asia. Me, my mates, my family, and everyone I frigging know pirates everything from watches to cars to explosives to software to porn even. Lots of valid reasons for this
... anyone else find the mention of pirating explosives as "valid" a little less than comforting?
Show ten or twelve replays to demonstrate exactly what you mean and use a fleet with a good mixture of hard-counters/soft-counters and utility ships
ok, excuse me when I dont clarify what I mean: a fleet with all sorts of hard/soft counters and defensive utility ships (and in the oddball case an offensive one) are not good enough, I'll post a replay later in which a guy effectively carrier spams to the point a fleet 2x as large filled with at least as many flak ships fails
Seriously, all ships are overpowered. For some odd, unknown reason, an enemy can beat you if he has superior firepower. WTF that just doesn't make sense. Why should I lose if I'm not thinking very well? I'm returning this game, as it obviously wasn't made for retards.
*sigh* windex your inability to think for yourself, sad though it is, is nothing new. besides, its obvious that scouts pawn all. hey multi :( you're mistaking the point of this thread if you think I'm just trolling. obviously I'm trolling and consolidating information.
They have already been nerfed and are very easy to defend against now.
well duh, killing them is easy. but its still far easier to just annihilate a planet before defensive forces can get into place I've seen this, its a legit issue. making them a bit slower sounds like a good idea though. a broad based discussion topic for imbalances in need of sore fixing. after a week and a half this sort of discussion needs to be opened. perhaps the most prolific is the one we should start out with 1) siege frigates kill planets too quickly, even in small groups they can annihilate a 3000 health planet before a fleet of ships 2 or 3 jumps away can react. even with the health decrease they can do too much damage too quickly. 2) ship solid cap. it absolutely FAILS for large maps

whoa, LRLs have CAPITAL armor? no wonder they are so powerful, good armor and they do effectively 100% damage to everything threatening save sieges and LRMs, which take .75

grr, broke my edit... 6. your anti-war argument has nothing to do with morality, national defense or the troops. instead you suggest that terrorists would be easier pascified if we were to build grand communion temples on their land. 7. your plan for world domination has absolutely nothing to do with earth "pff, the TEC couldnt touch me with half the galaxy, let alone that resource-less terran" 8. when watching Forest Gump, you expect his reason for running to have less to do wi

1. you put "searching for a girl with telekinetic abilities" on your e-harmony account 2. you paint your dog pink and stow it away on the next space station launch, hoping for a monopoly on the obviously lucrative space pony market. 3. you correct Samantha Carter while watching SG-1 "no, you idiot! wormholes ARE two way!" 4. you petition Wall Street to exile your neighbors to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. 5. you have an extreme fondness for raspy, overly-deep or rediculousl
mmm... I noticed that when I researched it all my things spawned ships at once.. giving me -100 fleet support. they should max out at your support amount.
:( :( :( I'm getting a little irritated with the devs, we were told this was fixed!

the basic solution is to storm the castle with a few weak strike groups (plural here being important) It shouldnt take much firepower to down a novalith, it has something like 800 hull points, less than a combat cruiser.

quick STOP!!! this post is going to outgrow anything from the beta era in a matter of days :SNIFF!: curse this overly enthusiastic community and those overdedicated devs, damn...

this actually makes for some intriguing strategies: if you bulk up your military without the economy to back it up you WILL run out of steam before your more economy based opponent, unless you make serious ground on them and make your own losses worth it.
Also, phase missiles can skip shields, and Subverters add a 25% bonus to that. You can kill battleships while they still have 1000 points of shield strength.
really, did I forget to mention capital ships assassinations? vasari are the king at assassinating ships.

Reply to Vasari vs LRM in Strategy

aha, the advent have LRLs, not LRMs! petty pointmongering aside: advent illuminators are MAD powerful, not to mention they can shoot numerous targets at once (making them damn well near indomnimtable when you surround your enemy with a lot of them)

siege frigs = cheap game ender for the person with vastly more military or eco. otherwise they are more than easily countered, although I personally believe they need a bit of rebalance. just not a hell of a lot locking down phase lanes entirely = moronic, the game is already turtle friendly enough as it is. that being said the PJI does indeed need a boost.

Vasari are about mobility, keeping your units alive (almost all of their cap ships have some sort of defense, bar the marauder and the evacuator). they start out initially a bit stronger than the advent or the tec, but become weak mid-early game. when you hit mid game however, where everyone begins solidifying defenses and reaching the mid-tech levels they become very powerful, phase gates combined with midlevel damage and defense upgrades makes piercing and hitting the vasari's weak interrior d

the game already has a steep enough learning curve without making each race radically different. take a word from someone who has played the game for nearly a year (not a fanboy, thank you, I have my own issues with how the devs treat things) the races are very very different, if you try and play the vasari the way you play the advent you will end up screwed and then some. compare the supposedly feable advent to the powerhouse TEC and you will see what I'm talking about: the advent are
