Yeah, the modification package (DS_Entrenchment_Beta_0.81_[33515597]_v2.7z) is very prone to minidumps (frequent), runtime errors (rare), and a complete system crashs (very rare). I do not have these issues with the normal game, checked all the files, redownloaded them, and even extracted them with different archivers to make sure it wasn't an oddball archiving issue. So, instead started pulling parts from the mod to isolate the problem a bit, and observed a drastic reduct

I found out that you can already buy Sony Playstation 3s with Linux pre-installed, but still not exactly an avenue for most consumers that already own one. Still a step in the right direction none-the-less.
This is the kicker consideration that both you and Falknir forgot. The 360 and PS3 are both sold at a LOSS to their respective companies. If MS / Sony were to sell their consoles for PROFIT, like PCs, they'd likely cost MORE than your average gaming PC. Add in all the bells a
...So the question is, if the PS3 is so much like a PC now, what's the catch?...
Simple to answer, user-friendly and hassle-free. The pre-existing knowledge required to operate a current-generation console isn't much more then knowing to plug-in a few labeled cables, press the power button, and maybe insert a disc. In addition, the utilized operating systems are very-efficent and have interfaces that are very-easy to navigate. Compare that to what computer users must kn
Also, if someone is on a tight budget and they had to decide between a PC or a console, the PC will win every time. Consoles only perform one function (gaming), PCs many. There is no competition. And if you recall, most of the world is struggling just to get their first PC and consoles are likely out of the mix in those areas for years to come.
I will take it, that you are not familiar with that even a PS3 is a fully-functional computer, but, that is not you fault it is s
And most statistics are made up on the spot.
I don't know the exact percentage, but the extreme-majority of computers are not used for AA/AAA gaming and-or simple incapable of playing recent AA/AAA games.
I seriously doubt it. There is no shortage of PCs with games on them, and no shortage of PC games. Wishing something to be true doesn't make it true. I seriously doubt the PC game market is smaller than the console game market.
What he said befor
I agree with the statement that PC Gaming is dying, even when we get that handful of developers and publishers that say "all is well; look the other way". A decent deal of those saying "all is well" are also well-within still viable genres and-or with strong influence with consumers (powerful brand(s)). We do still get that once in awhile magic seller that gets consumer attention (Sims, etc.), but should we base PC Game Industry health around the exceptional few or what the rest of the
Yeah, to bad World in Conflict was a dud, and only really caters to inane competitive gamers who like doing roughly the same thing every match. I got bored of the shallow, repetitive, chaotic (multi-player), and unbalanced gameplay in few tedious weeks. In addition, I don't even think the game sold very-well and it's rankings aren't very-good from the looks of it. Note: I remember when World in Conflict was touted as some kind of modern real-time tactical game with realism and so on.
I didn't even expect UT3 to run on my machine, but instead it runs silky smooth. I really got to hand it to those guys, they have done a superb job optimizing their engine. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! At least, it's a joke... sort of... to bad for Bioware and Pandemic... No they did not.... their support for CnC 3 is horrible. So many problems with sound playback during videos... endless threads about it but no fix. That single issue nearly destroyed any enjoyment I got out the game's campaign. It saddens me that such a silly issue wasn't resolved, yet.
I think they are limited in what they can do with the engine that's probably at least 4 years old or more. Rumor mill suggests it's a 3rd party developer too, as opposed to an in house studio of THQ. Relic Entertainment and Iron Lore Entertainment are working in-tandem, and it seems Relic Entertainment cannot handle the full-load of the number of projects in-development. I'm guessing a good portion of the Dawn of War team are working on a new e
Is the pathing still horribly bad? That's like a Relic staple. It was never really that bad to begin with, except for vehicles, but didn't notice any real problem in the beta.
1.) Command and Conquer 3. The game was just rushed out the door a bit to early with Direct3D and DirectSound crippling-or-annoying bugs, balance problems, disconnected art direction, continuity problems, amateur camera handling, and very-uninspired mission-and-map design. 2.) Supreme Commander. Serious performance problems plagued people in the early retail release; released with a few holdover bugs from beta that allowed for exploitation in multi-player; needed more op
Well, thirty-one more days till their big teaser. Hopefully, they are keeping the game very-mature, and don't water it down to cater to a larger consumer base.
Well, problem was, my current rig doesn't run a dual-core, and honestly I've had massively larger battles on Company of Heroes with physics, bullets flying everywhere, crazy effects, and some gameplay to boot. Note: I mostly play modifications that just furthered the experience, but ToW just doesn't stack well even against vanilla CoH. Maybe, there was a huge compatibility problem somewhere that is affecting people (and me), but honestly the game looks like something from the DirectX
I'm still a sucker for those kind of games, and it looks pretty interesting. Of course, I just need to get a Playstation 3 to play it.
I was looking forward to this game till the demo came out, and it featured a boatload of performance problems, outdated graphics, and meager unit counts. I couldn't really make heads-or-tails of the gameplay due to performance problems, but it seemed tanks/tank destroyers were greatly over-powered. I sort of just stayed static in one position and annihilated what might have been six tanks and roughly fifty men equiped with anti-tank weaponary and rifles with only three tanks/tank des
We had a previous thread about this game while it was still in beta, and don't think anyone had anything really good to say about the game. In my opinion, the entire game could be summarized as half-baked, tedious, and shallow (minus some very-abusive tech) with some organic-ship wierdness.
I don't you'll catch me uttering that word in a sentence, as it sounds SO wrong.
In all honesty, that doesn't make things much better for them, they need to get the press ball rolling, and start making such information more widely known to get attention towards their expansion. Right now, they have a website, which frankly should be spilling with information on the expansion this close to release. Yet, are more content -- releasing tidbits throughout forum posts? I think they need to hire better community managers, site administrators, and-or marketing p
There seems to be an information void with "Sword of the Stars: Born of Blood"; there is no previews, no public screenshots, no box art, a vague list of additions, and all for an expansion coming out within the month of April, 2007. In addition, they set this expected release date only a month ago, and it seems they either ran into some serious setbacks or they are planning one hell of a stealthy release. Kind of hard to get interested (or renew one's hope) in a game that is an enigma
I wont be participating in the first phase of the beta either. I cannot afford the expense for a beta product with ongoing and future expenses of me moving out-of-state, job training, and day-to-day needs. So, I will be observing and discussing, while looking forward to the next phase of the beta.
Yeah, would have to agree about a tax slider or more tax options, we all love taxing our people into poverty to fund the war machine or in my case my Idiot Proofed, Doomstar (I wouldn't dare used that other cursed name on my precious planet destroyer!). Look at what happens when I'm gone! Jeez, WWII? C'mon guys! We can do better than that. How did this man fall? He allowed his own bodyguard to stab him i
I heard of the game sometime ago, but they didn't have nearly this level of information and footage as they do now. So far, it looks pretty good, but hoping it does manage to make it to completion.
GPotato is making money somewhere, that is all that matters, and if they aren't making money or leeching it from another profitable venture. They are relying on a source of banked money that will eventually dry up, which will either force them to change their payment models or terminating the game service all-together when the time comes. About a possible World of Starcraft, well, seems Warhammer 40,000 Online is going to beat them to it. Unless they totally screw that game up. <img s
Of course, the Sovereign and Eclipse Super Star Destroyer were even better in SW: Warlords. Both had a miniaturized Deathstar super-laser mounted on a SSD. Nothing like watching those pathetic Rebel ships vaporize in one shot.
