While I don't see why you'd want to, there's a file somewhere that I think you could mod to make the game play your own music (.ogg files only probably).

Fleets: Most of your problem here is less with the game mechanics and more with the AI. When the AI is better, you will need better fleets to defeat them. Defense: I disagree. The lack of static defense options encourages defensive fleets, and good strategic play. Sure, it's funny to watch wave after wave of enemy ships fall to your statics, but it's not very fun to play, especially if you're attacking (

A cool idea would be terraforming. for example, you could upgrade an asteroid to support more population/logistics/other stuff. Or it could be used to change a less habitable (read: ice, lava, desert) to a more terran planet. Just to make things interesting or something. I don't think I worded this right, but you should get the idea. This is already in the game. It's called upgrades. If you read the description for the population upgrade it actually says

The problem with ships maneuvering to get out of the line of fire of enemy ships is that most frigates have only forward firing weaponry. This means that if they are running circles around the enemy, then neither side is firing at the other. Sure, avoiding fire is nice, but not if it means that we can't fire back.

Hi Nova, with the new capital ship research topics it is unlikely that you'll be able to mass produce. Are you guys trying to drive me insane with longing for the new patch? They've always been trying to drive us insane, and I'm sure they always will. You weren't around pre-beta, by any chance?

Where the patch notes for beta 3 listed? Have not found a link or other refrence to it's location. Thanks Glenn Well, we'd need some patches for beta 3 first, which, I guess, would mean we'd need beta 3 itself first

I want my ships to stay where they are. If I plant them just out of the range of the gauss platforms, I don't want them moving into the kill zone and getting blown up just because someone thinks it would look cool. archpsi, your little scenario there could easily be accomplished with a bit of micromanagement.

I think what the OP is asking for is more of a visual effect. The ships wouldn't arrive more than a couple seconds apart. Just think of how it's done in star wars, where a few ships appear, then some more, then *wham*, the star destroyer appears.

[offtopic] If you think towering was bad, this one time me and my friend in 2v2 went all faerie dragons and flying machines. The other team didn't build any anti-air, and we won. Hahaha, Bat riders, Gargs, Steam Tanks (teched), or hippos would own that team. I don't know about the gargs and hippos, copters do AOE damage when u

You don't even need to find the directory, you can erase save games from within Sins. Yeah, but there you have to do it one-by-one, if you go to the directory shift and two clicks gets 'em all! But to get to the directory you'd need more clicks, whereas you are going to be in the Sins load menu anyway. I guess it's really a tradeoff based on how many autosaves you have.

The necromancy is better than the new guys just starting their own threads about already discussed topics. If someone resurrects a thread, it means they've actually gone through all the arguments. What I can't stand is when someone just decides to make a new thread devoted to a topic that already has a very lengthy argument (*cough* phase lanes *cough*).

First the range sucks even if you put them near the jump gates they don't seem to be in range of ships that jump in at times cause they don't reach the end of the gravity well. Because that way waaaay to easy to "exploit" according to the devs... personally, I think they need to play with the jump formation a little if thats the case, because in my larger fleets my Kodiaks (at a minimum) start out in range

Which is imho actually a pretty bad exculpation. It was bad in GalCiv and it is bad here. It just isn't plausible. I mean, I bomb a planet with nuclear weapons which seem to be in the fifty megaton area, justing from the size of the explosions. Those things are able to flatten small countries. The explosions are exaggerated so you're able to see them. If the game showed Krosovs launching conventional weaponry at the planet, you wouldn't have any pretty g

* Ships when they make the jump in a group, should travel at the speed of the slowest ship. Otherwise, why put ships into a fleet if they get fed into the meat grinder one at a time? This could be added as a research item at the higher levels (say around 12 labs). Right click on the movement icon to have your ships phase jump together. When in a phase jump all of your ships move at the same speed.
