Ship Speed (turning & forward velocity) Based on my gameplay experiences to date, and just an opinion... Its obvious some units travel faster than others as it should be, I would like to see an indication or measure of speed for a selected unit in the UI. The infocard probably being the most obvious choice. I would also like to see some flavour of speed increase in either abilities e.g. running caphips engines at 110% for a short time or simply a research item f

Z-axis control Some strange behaviour I saw yesterday whilst experimenting with a TEC Scout Frigate in the Z-axis. 1) Move to the highest point in a planetery system then try to phase jump out and the frigate seems to struggle to find the exit path of the gravity well, it did it eventually but it took 60s or more and seemed to get stuck having selected what seemed to be an odd/in-direct path. 2) You arrive at the default space lane entrance point to the new syst

I haven't played many large maps yet, but I did get around to it yesterday. What I saw seems to fit with your descriptions...
If the game don't need more then 1GB of RAM, it wont take more. Doesn't matter if you got 2GB or 100GB of RAM
I think it probably needs more when displaying/tracking 20,000 ships but it ain't asking.

I use Vista 64 also, my only problem is SoaSE using about 1GB of RAM when it could have 6GB+ if it wanted.
I have a 3 year old comp whose harddrive has crashed 3 times..... Sins runs fine fine
Dude that is exactly the problem a game due for release in 2008 should run on a 3yr old PC in a window smaller than a penguins arse 50m underwater..... ...or at least on max graphical settings that is.

Difficult to know one way or the other until we hear from IC, I just hope good sense prevails and I will give them the benefit of the doubt until we hear otherwise. As Ron quite rightly points out its all rumour atm so no point getting upset about it. Good post btw, deal with it by making your feeling known nothing wrong with that.

Homeworld doesnt have hundreds of ships? Getting fed up of these worthless comments Lets put this to rest finally. Consider a 6 player high unit cap game of HW2, where everyone goes for fighters within 5mins you could easily have 20 squads of 5-6 fighters x 6 players = 600 - 700 fighters plus capitalships plus resource collectors plus rocks. So yes the Homeworld line of games can and does have hundreds of ships + visible o

So here we have a screenshot from Eve:Online Trinity, not much going on here so this could easily be an RTS view as well as an FPS view before anyone brings up the genre argument. It merely serves as an example for computer generated graphics 2007/2008 for a space environment. Now you could drop the SoaSE Planets, TEC Kol, TEC Colony Frig or Vasari Fighters into this picture and they wouldn't look out of

I mentioned this a while ago...just bringing it up again as I noticed its still present in the current Beta. When using the right mouse button (after selecting an object) to move the camera angle around the cusor drifts off or away from the central position which can cause problems. I use this method of select, zoom & pan alot as its what I'm used to from HW2 days.

Fact 3 We paid to be part of the SoaSE beta process. Conclusion: As the beta is not free there is an onus on the developers to show 'fairplay' in this regard which they have to date and I'm sure will continue to do so. I think Thrawn & Yarlen is due our thanks for speaking up with some honesty and openess and I look forward to the next beta/patch should one be released before Feb2008 as would 99% of other public beta testers.

I live in the UK, I have the Beta you pays ur money you download it from Stardock Central (just like Steam) sorted. All you have to worry about is time zones then for multiplayer games.

I think the main point is simply the apparent lack of fighters in any significant numbers rather than a pure definition of a squadron..... From my experience of SoaSE games to date fighters are simply a distraction which add little to the gameplay.

Daniel is entitled to his opinion, I happen to agree with him. Yarlen and Kryo seem to do fine at filtering the posts for the Devs so why waste time argueing about it.

Have you guys seen the work and ship mesh's from the X3 Babylon 5 mod? http://b5.hc-gamer.de/mods/gallery/image.php?pic=54 Pretty impressive if you ask me, but more importantly if you think how good the fleet management interface is in SoaSE vs. X3 (which is next to useless)... well you get the idea = awesome mod

I don't think the wider gaming comunity is going to be as forgiving when they see it.

I can accept the animated turret arguement, it really isn't going to deliver much visable benefit given the normal zoom level you play at. I can accept the other TEC ships need to look old/industrial compared to the Kol to fit the storyline. But looking old doesn't have to mean looking like 'a flying cat litter tray' as in the case of the TEC Dreadnought. Its the quality of the Kol that needs to be replicated in the other models not the look and feel. Consider t

Might have been reported already tbh its hard to tell with the current forum layout unless I'm missing the uber bug list anywhere? Anyhow... 1) If I order a LEV construction frigate to build say a Gauss Platform it moves into position and begins construction as you would expect. However if I try to cancel the order at any point (e.g. if I positioned it incorrectly and want to move it or build something else before or during construction) the frigate just ignores the cancel order.<br

About 90mins into a 1 vs 1 SP game TEC vs. Vasari I got the following error: Failed to find StringID: 'IDS_PLANETDETAILSINFOCARD_ALLEGIANCEDETAILS_DELTAFROMCULTURE'. NOTE: Any following StringID failures will be supressed. So I pressed Skip to continue, but my view keep flying to the right hand side of the screen even if I try to CTRL + LeftClick on a unit keep focus centered it doesnt work. By AlT+Tab to and from Windows it seemed to fix the focus problem.

This is much more like it and I hope a good sign for some of the other models that need some TLC.
