I've reverted back to my original display drivers, cos those at least allow a minidump the lastest Catalyst 7.3 drivers just produce a zero byte file for the dump. Here is a minidump taken after the SoaSE Beta1 inc. the update: http://www.wikiupload.com/download_page.php?id=113630 My sound drivers were a little out of date, but thats been rectified and hasn't worked either.
I have applied the latest update from SDC, but still I cannot run the game.
I have applied the update to SoaSE from SDC, edited the user.settings file and tried running it again. Same problem nothing has changed for me.
Windows XP Pro (32bit) SP2 AMD X2 S939 4600+ (dual core overclocked and stable @5200+ speeds) 2 GB DDR 400 RAM Ati Radeon X800 XT PE(256MB/AGP/Catalyst 7.3) SoundBlaster Audigy Avast AntiVirus (latest version) DX9.0c I run games like CoH, SupComm, HW2, HL2 with no issues. Also tried turning AGP Fastwrites on/off from the BIOS.
I set the ISWINDOWED property to TRUE, the result was different... I get a black window pop up for less than a second then nothing. I also tried lowering my desktop screen res down to 1024x768 but that had no effect on SoaSE either. I still can't run the game. Thanks to all the minidumps and reports from you guys we've tracked a lot of the crashes so far. We are likely going to be is
Already got Introvideo set to false, and I've tried with setting Iswindowed to true.

I get the black screen, and an almost immediate minidump report. I have to ALT+TAB out of the black screen it doesn't close automatically. I have reinstalled the game once. I have edited the C:\Documents and Settings\ \Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting\user.setting so that the showintromovie property is false. Help I can't Sin I am
I am also experiencing this problem on WinXP Pro (32bit), I am going to reinstall like Riptide then hold fire incase you want to try and trap the error.
One added side note, it appears that you have to register a Stardock.net account and then login to SDC with the same email details, name etc used to purchase SoaSE. Simply using the serial number to register doesn't seem to work in SDC.
Im changing my guess to 1:05pm EST
Has anyone recieved a Stardock.net serial number for SoaSE yet?
You're all welcome to visit our public forums, we've quite an active community especially if you want a more heated debate about SoaSE away from the official forum. @Semper Fi-RG.... Hi btw, I read your post on HW2 in your forums the other day it didn't make much sense to me especially the bit about there being no fighter micro in HW2?
9 am GMT, when ur all in bed
I am sitting on pins and needles. I think the Europeans should wait until americans get it first, hahahaha like those Relic toads with CoH.. yeah I'm sure it will be late morning GMT at the earliest, otherwise the release date would technically be today. I'll just have to drink more tonight so I wake up later tomorrow <img src="http://images.stardock.
Got Stardock Central ready and waiting... Please dont make us early bird Europeans wait for you lazy lot in North America to get up and come to work
I had a carrier (T2?) that i send out to attack an enemy base. So i send All my fighters (about 30 as i remember) to attack it. But only a few survived. They all was kamakazing into the base I attacked a pirate base the other day with an M2 Carrier, M7 & 14 M3+ fighters.... no collisions, no losses just a smoking hulk of a pirate base. The fighters were swarming like flies around the base so plenty of oppourtunity for a collision, it wasn't as if th
Its more likely that your new monitor supports a higher refresh rate than your old one(s). Digital to analogue convertors could be a limiting factor in high resolutions but its unlikely for normal resolutions as they go plenty fast enough.
I must say the graphics are looking much better, the planets and back grounds were always good from the begining, the ships have been progressively improving. It would be nice to see some close up shots of the ships.
The crux of X3 gameplay is that you either see it as a challenge or pain in the backside. In my case and a warning to prospective X3 players is that it takes literally weeks of casual gameplay before you will own one of those big capital ships. I can certainly see how the cool graphics have lured or misrepresented some of the gameplay to the disappointment of many players. Its not that its impossible to make progress, it just takes time. You need to learn how to progress through experie
weird i have an X3 fleet of 25 universal traders and never lost any of them in a collision.
