It's been a little while since I've checked this thread, but I just put the signup in at the mod forum. I am at your disposal.

Last time I crushed the pirates I took about seventy ships, including six level 10 capitals, sat at the edge of the gravwell, and wiped them out. >.> Granted, I lost 54fp worth of frigates.
This is your third thread on this topic. If you responded to some of the old ones people could be a little more helpful.
Mm. Intriguing!
For the people talking about the AI exclusively doing siege rushes--dunno if we have the same game running. In my current random-huge FFA, most of my fleet is out in the universe fighting on the frontlines, leaving my one system defended by a few ships and a bunch of static defenses. There's one AI (medium! not even hard) that's been continually trying to get in, and I am absolutely shocked at the things it's done so far. A bit of background: there are two ways into my empire from the s
The price of ship upkeep is negligible compared to the price of bureaucracy, maybe? :P
Better than a lot of people who say that their English isn't good. :P Stardock/Ironclad haven't been able to find a European publisher--at the moment, your only choice for buying the game is buying direct from Stardock. Of course, given the game's apparent sales performance so far, I don't think not having a publisher will be a problem for too much longer.
Practically, 2000 ship cap is equal to two main fleets of 6 capitals a piece, one with 50 frigates/cruisers and one with 75, and two smaller fleets of two capitals each, with twenty or thirty supporting ships each. >.>
How long did you wait? It took a solid four or five minutes to launch the first time I tried. After that it was much snappier.
I'll answer the ones I can think of real quick, before I go play again >.> 2. Depends on the fleet, the size/purpose of the fleet, the stage of the game, and the classes of capitals involved. Currently, in my 5-system 131-planet marathon Advent game, I have two big attack fleets (6 capitals, 50-75 frigates/cruisers a piece) in the system I'm attacking, and then two smaller defensive fleets in my home system--since they're backed up by static defenses. 3. Running an NVidia 8500GT (6.14.11.6375 drivers), and I'm not noticing this problem.
Firing it is so stressful on its systems that it requires hundreds of trained technicians to check it over before firing again, hence the long recharge time. If you knock down the labs, who's gonna train the technicians?
Honestly, I like how it's difficult to force a decisive engagement. It keeps the snowball factor from getting too big in the late game, and makes the decisive battles all the more fun--when you jump in and see the enemy turn toward you, it puts a smile on your face. It also allows for more strategic consideration--this is one of the few games where you can adequately trade space for time. There already are some capitals with jump-block abilities, but granted they only work on single shi
It's not a refinery as such--when it's toggled to its secondary mode, it increases resource extraction rate.
Very cool. Would you mind posting the process of taking a screenshot (eg displaying the UI etc.)
Toggle cinematic mode (there's a button on the interface) to hide all the overlays, and ctrl-shift-z (I think) to hide the rest of the UI. Print Screen to take the screenshot. This one clearly has a bit of postprocessing. :P
There's not one of these yet. There ought to be! Post your efforts. Paused real quick during a big battle today, found a nice view, and did some fiddling with Fireworks...
And so does Google. :P
I really haven't had a huge problem with the AI siege frigate rush. On a freshly-conquered volcanic with ~2500 hp and no defenses when they started bombing, the defenses I built during the bombing took a group of 18 siege frigates down to 5. I don't see a huge balance problem here, even if most people don't cram their tactical slots full of turrets. >.> Siege frigates are expensive in terms of fleet points and in terms of actual cost. To put together a siege frigate rush, your opponent
W-what does the Unity ask? >.> I'm a giant fan of the Advent voices so far. Haven't gotten around to playing TEC or Vasari yet. >.>
My five star, 131 planet game is at the 6.5 hour mark. There are still two factions in my star system that I have to root out. One of the ten players is gone. Six of the eight have no presence in my solar system--I haven't even seen ships from one of the colors. Also, since teams are unlocked, this could end up taking a very, very long time. On the other hand, you can finish a quick map in an hour.
Only preorders with TotalGaming tokens get you into the beta. Also, the game releases tomorrow. My suggestion is just wait. :P
you live in france, and i live in Norway both in Europe but i paid 20 USD more.... Somehow this doesn't ad up
To ship to Norway they have to use specially heated trucks, thus adding to the shipping cost. >.>
I dunno. I liked the temporary TEC voices a lot. They had a good feel to them that I really only thing the 'We have lost contact' message did in the video. >.>
Hmm. Noobs. *rewrites* function post(string posterType) if(posterType = !noob) then continueLurk() else flame() :P
