Hmm... well if you've looked through the manual already, I don't know what to tell you. The really detailed information, as Annatar said, is in the entity files, but those can't be accessed yet. There is a little information on each ship's infocard and on the research infocards, but beyond that, you'll have to wait for the entity editor.
psugar
Try looking through the manual pdf; it should be in your sins directory.
Nice Benji... hope to see those maps up soon. Pndrev, I'm not sure. We could possibly add in another Galaxy-Forge-generated maps folder there, but I think we've already got two locations, plus potentially extra folders for mods and so forth... it may be too much. Will consider it for sure.
IMPORTANT: Save the galaxy file in your program files/stardock/total gaming/sins of a solar empire/galaxy directory, NOT the one under local settings/application data. Enigma: investigating...
The fixes for this problem are usually: 1) Make sure bloom is disabled 2) Make sure you don't have something unnecessary running in the background (I've had trouble with youtube and other flash-based video players) 3) Update your sound drivers. Particularly with Vista, there have been some problems with crummy drivers. So give those a go and let us know how it works out. Cheers
OK... apparently this is by design - the other galaxy folder (under local settings) is only for the ones that are made by the in-game map designer. So I guess the fix is... don't put them in there :P We should probably have some tests to prevent you from loading those ones. Thanks guys
Yep, Netriak has got it. I have no idea why yet, but I'll find out. For now you can save it in the other folder.
Was anyone else who has the problem a beta tester?
I'm curious about this too. I've tested a couple of these and they all seem to work fine. Are you all beta testers?
can you post the map file somewhere? it's probably something that seemed obvious and we didn't explain well :S
1. You can colonize asteroids. 2. I'm just answering this cos I want to be part of this simulpost.
Go to StarDock Central, select Sins, then look in the lower right hand corner. There should be an uninstall button.
No, you should be able to play any race as a noob. I do think that the TEC is likely to be the most intuitive for a new player though.
try updating SDCentral manually by redownloading it from https://www.stardock.com/products/sdcentral/ The latest version is 2.52.something
I got burned by that lie too Schod. I had a massive fleet ready to pop out right next to somebody's homeworld, did all the wormhole research, sent them in and... wait - I'm in a different system? Evil.
Sure, have a go with that. Incidentally, a search on crackling sigmatel vista turns up a lot of results, it seems this is not an uncommon problem. Hopefully the latest drivers will help.
There will be a demo available later (ETA: 1 monthish), but at the moment there isn't one.
I'd start on a fairly small map with a single ai, and see how that works out :)
xthetenth, it's just an optimization thing to make the game load faster. there will be tools that expose everything that was available before... soon.
Argh. That sounds brutal, Hoddsy... I assume you tried deleting/reinstalling SDCentral?
That download isn't finished. I hope your next one works properly.
Gah. What sound card do you have?
1) Try disabling bloom in the video (or effects, i can't remember) menu. I know it doesn't make any sense, but try it. 2) Do you have anything running in the background? Anything media-related, like web browser, quicktime, etc? 3) What are your machine specs? Cheers
hey tentacle... when does it break for you? i've just played through them a couple of times and they haven't broken. thanks
Yah, they're in binary for release. There will be editors released soon though, don't worry.
