Their reach is 1 system radius. You need to have mines built for it to work. They increase production. A mine can only make use of 3, so place them wisely. They work mainly on metal, but they have a small impact on crystal as well.
I've always found that they work on an equal footing with crystal.

Vasari - The Kortul Devastator is the Rakshasa The Skirantra Carrier is the Ravana The Jarrasul Evacuator is either called "City of Nod" or "City of Dis" The Antorak Marauder is called Lucifer The Vulkoras Devastator is Sathanas I rename the T.E.C. "S.P.Q.R.". It stands for Senatus Populesque Romanus, and the ships have some sort of European reference SPQR Durandal (Kol Battleship) SPQR Curtana (Sova Carrier) [SPQR] Charlemagne (Akkan Battlecru
No reason to get all political and hang someone on words. Take it with some salt and put your razors and lime juice away.
Yeah, no need. If I get called a kike, or if someone post a thread saying "TEC are money-grubbing bignosed jews" then I'm clearly overreacting! Why can't I just drop my marxist-leninist political correctness and just accept that people talk that way! It's not their fault they're stupid, it's their culture!

The Vasari Nano Weapon-Suppressor or whatever it's called runs out of antimatter fairly quickly for my tastes. I think it should be a constant area of effect, or have a reduced cost and cooldown. The Advent antimatter battery, pffftttt. Go straight for a Glory Cannon.

Stars are really bad places to defend from. They have massive circumference, so it's hard to navigate around them to jump, and they give an antimatter boost to ships. Also, ships will not jump out of a gravity well to pursue enemy ships. There's no current way to change this, unfortunately.

Don't put up base defenses as a first step. Use your expansion colonies as defensive lines you can put ships at. Pirate fleets should be diverted until you have an impregnable defense, because they'll make your enemy more miserable than they'll net you experience.
Been playing a Huge Random with 9 AI opponents for a few days now. At first I was annoyed by how badly turrets suck. Then I found that with a combination of as many hangars as I could cram into a system, a repair station or two, and a planetary shield makes the difference. Obviously, I'm playing TEC.
You should try Advent. 3 Squadrons per hangar (but increased tactical slot cost) and research upgrades that boost all bomber and fighter squadron complements by 33%
EFFING TURRETS!!.. some please tell me HOW to manually place them.. the autoplacement always puts them in the most useless corners of the system..
Click that icon to the left of your buildings bar. The one that says "Automanage placement".
ALSO.. since we're on the topic of planetary defense (sorry for sabotaging ur thread ) can anyone tell me the best way to deal with raids from planet killers.. it really seems rediculous to me that these shi

I like this game. You hate it so much you uninstalled it. So what's your excuse other than that you're just an obnoxious little brat coddled by his parents and led to believe his opinion matters? Do you think that by screaming at the top of your lungs and throwing feces around your nursery pen you'll get the developers attention?
That's not to say the people aren't treated well. A trade station in every orbit and a shield over every planet.
Oh man, you have made a political scientist all teary-eyed with laughter this day.

Why do you even care? You've gone out of your way to remind us you uninstalled the game. Your observations are based on a single game you played and they aren't worth dick. You just enjoy reading your own posts.
Ok So I have tried several time to get up and running. Here the problem I Set up ! of each of the mining types and then I set the planet as the capital of my new civ. what are some things I can do to get up and running quicker?
Try a different map. I've found that most of them set you up with a fully upgraded planet except Fertile Crescent or whatever that Small map is called. Paying to set your capital on the ONLY planet of your empire is ridiculous and I

You can never spend too much on defenses. But generally I go for a full complement of Hangars, and whatever points I have left are spent on a repair bay, a jump inhibitor (depending upon significance of the location) and a nano weapon jammer if I'm Vasari. Whatever points are left I'll use to put a turret down to help defend the hangar cluster. Oh, and while I used to go with a complement of 25/75 Fighters/Bombers I've noticed better results with a 50/50 split recently,

I think Sins of a Solar Empire punishes overly hasty expansion, either in terms of force-movement or industrial base build up. So a lot of people are reluctant to go and skirmish with anything other than a 14-ship wandering siege frigate blitz. Economic wise commerce raiding isn't worth a damn thing, most especially of refinery ships. Either way, give it a month or so. I think I'll actually be moving out of my carefully crafted single player shell and playing online soon,
Interesting observation. It seems to that if culture is the only alternative to bombardment for acquiring planets, you should loose all of the orbital structures on a planet when it defects from your empire. Would such a result be unbalancing?
Yes. You think siege frigate spam is an issue now? Imagine if as soon as the planet health meter reached 0 and the planet went neutral all the structures in orbit simultaneously exploded/started rapidly lo
Sometimes you have to nuke a planet to get control of it. Culture is nice, but it can take a while. Or you could be away from your culture lines.
So your objection is that doing the right thing is also the harder method? Pfftt.
