It won't work on Vista. Homeworld: Cataclysm was done by the team who did Sins of a Solar Empire and is the strongest in my opinion. Homeworld 2 will be less boring to a player looking at it as a vintage product but it doesn't have any of the revolutionary qualities of Homeworld 1, or the polish of Homeworld: Cataclysm. It was a very generic sequel.
Uh... your point? Okay, with the above it's painfully obvious that you simply don't know what you are talking about. So there is little point in discussing it further. Have a nice day.
Skin. You're wasting it.
I don't think so, I think if you have extractors on an uncolonized world it treats them like asteroid belt/gas giant extractors. Full-value resource. I'm sure it wasn't intentional.
I think this game is a great concept, but there are several things which, in my opinion, make it no fun. 1) Enemy AI seriously overestimates the strength of your capital ships.
No, you underestimate the strength of yours. A full set of 5 levelled Vasari capital ships can brutally cripple three mixed fleets through focus-firing (Makes for some fun play around Gateway too)
2) The AI never builds any defences. Actually, the only time I hav
We beat penicillin.
Vasari - Extraordinary scouting, you can watch enemy fleets moving around without ever building a scout ship . Their phasing missiles are also very effective.
You forgot excellent economy-of-force. One fleet can project itself almost instantly to wherever there's a built phase gate.
You're not missing anything. It's just GalCiv 2 sandbox maps with settings all on TINY and a wall of text to tell you "the story thus far". I just cheated my way through them to read the (poor) scenario summaries and came away entirely unimpressed. Of course, considering that half the idiots here have never played a 4X game I don't think any amount of insistence on using your imagination will placate them. Am I that old that when I was their age we got things like Civ and

Interesting. Post some observations about what the effects on gameplay were.
My only wish is that it is not Vista only. I have no intention of getting Vista anytime soon.
I think the Unreal 3 Engine is DX10.
Won't happen. Was tried as a design decision, was judged too messy.
They think about reviving Star Control every few years. Personally I hated Star Control II, I thought it was too much of a clone of Starflight. The first Star Control was the most awesome strategy game prior to Dune II/Herzog Zwei, though.
Can Uranium-235 make a single thread without being a complete bastard? No.
Ironclad. Stardock just published it. :)
Just avoid Grindstone as a map. =p
I've noticed that Gateway tends to be brutal to Vasari in that Xi (the un-occupied star system that everybody fights over) never seems to have more than one volcanic planet, but can have 2-4 ice planets >=/
One thing I'd like to add, or perhaps to summarize: Fully developed planets are better than a larger set of colonies that are unupgraded.
Are you referring to the Honor series? I could never get into those. Maybe I should revisit them.
Agreed.
Thanks for that worthless post. Maybe you could have said you're sorry to the developer for waltzing into his forum, squatting, and defecating all over his nice new game that has won praise from pretty much everybody except the people who post here?
Hey Agent of Kharma, we get it, you don't like the game. Will you please go away now?
Kicking ass. Taking names. Making a list. Checking it twice. Rooting out dissidents and torturing them to find out who's naughty and nice.
Yes, you lose the bonuses and abilities granted by research if you don't maintain the necessary research stations. You can see your current station "count" by looking at the colored-in margin creeping across the research screen.
You should be getting more through combat. Level 3 is as high as you can "buy" their level at first, however.
Who says they cannot have video to tell the story instead of text?

I am all for one, and of course I would love it if I didn't have to pay for it.
You get what you pay for.
So you suggest that we should be able to build colony cruisers we at the start of the game? Ok, that makes more sense. When you just say "colony cruiser", none of the cruisers are available when you start so it's plain to see how I could have misunderstood. (No WTF's needed)
