Unfortunately it was all completely unnecessary. He just quoted a massive chunk out of the GSD file for no reason. The only relevant bit was the end bit, which we could see anyway :D

Mmmm... just reading back to your question: "they don't spawn...what am I missing?", I forgot to add that the Militia force HAS to be the owner of a planet. You can't have a neutral planet with defences, it must be owned by the militia.

Yes, thats what I was talking about ;) Although I don't know how to remove the bump mapping. If you have Photoshop, open the planet textures (make a backup first), and just delete the Channel 'Alpha'. If you don't have Photoshop, I could make a small mod for you, removing the alpha from the Vanilla planets.

Ok, well, at least thats something. I hate moments like this, I just wish I was right there so I could check every little thing. I feel so inadequate when I can't help solve a problem. Sorry about this, and I hope it sorts itself out in 1.4.

Thanks Noobsauce ;) wnmnkh, that is strange, as thats the same log I get. I'm really sorry to say, I'm out of options. I don't like to say this, but I'm 99% sure the problem is your end. I can only suggest making absolutely sure it is installed correctly, and you have done it from a fresh download. Which other mods have you tried so far, do you experience any problems with them?

Doubtful. The only thing this causes is the 'Red Star' on the in-game map maker to display 'No string found' or something to that effect. I don't think this would even be seen by the casual player. Edit: Oh, and your the 3rd person to mention this :D I don't blame you though, even I get lost in this thread

Well, I have no idea if it would work, but you could remove certain aspects of the planets texture, cloud layer, glow, Alpha Channels, and see if any of them give you the fix you want.

I'm total lost with what you've said, could you ask it again, in a simpler way, what you'd like to know? I know most of the workings of the GSD file, so I can help.

I may be wrong here, but I was under the impression that you always have 8 levels, but the number of research structures you need to get to each level can change. So, level 1 could need 4 labs to get to, then level 2 might need 10 labs, etc, etc... I say this, because I have seen it done this way, and there are only 8 columns on the research screens.

Definitely using the 1.03 reference data? And you say you change nothing and put it in, and it crashes?

I've heard, but cannot confirm, that this works a lot better, and more stably than enabling it every time. I can confirm its quicker though ;)

Oh, thats good to hear. I've heard people talk of the game crashing if you don't resart it after installing a mod. Was that your first play of 1.3a, and if not, do you have it on 'Load on Startup'?

1,334 Replies 3,504,699 Views

Lol. It was recommended to me here, and I tried it, and fell in love :d It has many useful functions, I'd seriously give it a go. Totally free, too.

Thats ok, it wasn't mentioned before in here. Ok; Go to where you Mods folder is, but don't open it. There will be other Folders, most for Saves, but one for Screenshots, and another called Setting. Open that, then open the file inside named: user.SETTING (open with Notepad). Now search for the line: LogOutput FALSE, and change it to TRUE. When it crashes next, go back to the folder with Saves, Mods, Screenshots, etc, and there should be a new folder called Debug. The log will be in there.

Thats true foodro, but I emphasise:
Yep, top priority being the count number, without that changed, you won't hear anything different. [B]Also, I recommend using the 'Find' function in Notepad++, it has a 'count' button, which counts the number of words you select. This is weird, and I'm afraid to say, I'm running out of options. Perhaps, like a lot of things I encounter, this is a Vista issue. Failing the above, all I have left to suggest is to do a fresh download and install of my mod. Delete it totally from your computer, and extract it again from the newly downloaded one, maybe try the other link you didn't use before, perhaps something was corrupted somewhere along the lines. Good luck, and any advancements, please drop in and post.

No dump? Sound more like a graphics card or driver issue. A crash with a dump is always a user error (me), but no dump, most of the time, is something a little deeper, either in the game files(if so it would have happened to others) or in the computer's files. Now, I'm out of my league here, but have you got the latest driver for your card, and what OS are you using? Edit: I strongly suggest getting the latest driver update for your card. I have used a slightly different way to save the

Strange bug, and something that should really not be caused by my mod. I have always used the highest graphic settings on everything, and have never experienced a crash like that. So, now your turn: 1. Have you changed any of my mods files? 2. Have you changed any of the game files? 3. Are you using any other mods with mine (replacement packs)? 4. Have you merged my mod with any other mods? 5. How many times has this bug happened? 6. What race where you playing as when it
