My guess would be at least a few weeks. They're getting a TON of great data and feedback from this beta.
Good to hear. I'm sure alot of that is in regards to how to best fit the Titans and the new Corvette class into Sins, which seems to be the main topics of debate here since the beta launched. :)

There's alot you can do without doing something memory consuming like just upping the texture resolution. They could do what they did with the ships and improve the shaders and things like that.
To me Rebellion has filled all the qualifications of being an expansion. Its not often you get an expansion that more than doubles the gameplay possibilities. Sure new ships can be seen as "easy" additions, but there have been some other significant changes that take time to properly design and implement. The sub-factions alone give you the ability to play the same race in two completely different ways, their unique techs having a significant impact on the game. Where
I hope they do too, if only to match the fresh coat of paint the rest of the game has gotten.
I like it. Just some new notifications regarding fleet battle status would be fine. Sometimes I find myself fighting two battles at once and when you get focused on one you lose track of the other. Something like this would be helpful.
You could double their cost / build-time and then have it that you get 2 corvettes per build (zergling style). Would halve the clicking and voice-over spam that way. :)
By giving the unique subfaction tech icons a different coloured border to make them stand-out. Easy.
I know with the new race select screen you get an outline of the new sub-factions for each race and a list of their unique techs and thats fine. However I'd like to see faction-unique techs have a different outline or something in the tech trees to make them stand-out against the normal race techs. Particularly because the pre-game race screen doesn't tell you which tech trees the unique techs are located. It would make it easier to locate them, especially when you are a new p
Pre-ordered the moment I heard the beta was so soon. Long-time Sins fan, although I admit I kind of got bored of the game after Entrenchment and never tried Diplomacy. I think my biggest gripe was the weak effects that just didn't carry the impact they should have so battles kind of looked boring. I don't think I would say the same thing for Rebellion though, it looks like it has the pew pew side of things well-covered, not to mention the fact it'll more than double the number of
Looks like the beta is coming along very nicely. Too bad I haven't gotten around to buying Entrenchment yet, look at all those improvements!
Frogboy I noticed in the second picture what look like floating point errors on some of the models (grey/white pixel specks). I get these also when using anti-aliasing (I have a Radeon HD3850) in Sins of a Solar Empire and I was just wondering if its a known issue and if it will be fixed?
Oh god not you. Move on already, or do you have no life?
I like what Spore is trying to achieve, with the different stages of life populated with others creations. On that level the game exceeds very well. Its just a shame they put so much effort into that aspect of the game, that they didn't think about giving the different stages any real replayability. Coupled with the fact the Space stage has some seriously bad design decisions (having to babysit everything, inability to create additional fleets to do what you want) it just left
My question is why would you spent $30 on getting the 3 or so addons when you could get them all at once for cheaper with the full expansion?
But the Impulse installer don't work with Linux... do you plan a working version of Impulse for Linux user ? Or maybe a boxed version made from several "micro-expansion"... No. We have no plans to do any work on Impulse to make it work with Linux (even in emulation). All of the micro-expansions will be rolled-up into the big full expansion pack we've been talking about since launch. You know, the one with the campaign and
The expansions are being developed to prevent fracturing of the multiplayer community. If both players have a given expansion pack installed, the features are available, but if one does not, the expansion pack features are disabled for that particular game.
This does not sound like a complete solution in my opinion, as while yes we can still play with others without the expansion packs, if the expansion packs add so much to the original game (such as the
Provided the quality is up to the standard of the rest of the game (which I'm sure it will be) count me in for Entrenchment. :D
This is a really cool idea.
Which sort of brings the question of why static defences are offered in the first place? This IS an issue, if they aren't worth their cost don't just leave them there for suckers to buy. :P
What is wrong with buying it online from Stardock? I did it and got it months before it came to Aussie shores.
The new textures implemented in the game are looking good. Same goes for some of the improved effects Its nice to see the game having its assets being brought up to an equal level of quality all throughout. That said, there is still some other models that could do with a texture touch-up and some effects which are still a little on the weak side. Will we be seeing some more improved textures and effects implemented as the beta continues?
The effects are better, but still missing some flare. I like the effects in Bailknight's Graphic Mod- I think Ironclad should have looked to this mod to see the full potential of the game engine.
A shame to hear it still isn't up to Bailknight's mod. I currently use it and love it, but I still want the effects in Sins could be so much more by default.
This beta is billed to go for about 1-2 months. Its barely even started Adama. Ironclad have done a little balancing, but I bet they will focus on that more once we know their new Alloy protocol works and have ironed out any game-breaking bugs.
I know that they have an ethic that says it's better to miss deadlines that put out crap. Why are the only options available either putting out crap, or missing deadlines? It's too bad they don't have a work ethic that says work hard to meet deadlines they set for themselves without having to put out crap. I still consider this update to be a fix for major issues that have plagued this game from the start (and led to an anemic online following). Is six months how long it is supposed to tak
