Eh? What happened to the content of the OP?
Fandangdo
Regarding the delayed mod tools... I made a post suggesting why there is a delay, alas I got not a single reply. To reiterate that here; it could be that the proposed business models are incompatible with releasing decent mod tools, and that until the exact model is decided and how a healthy and productive mod community would impact said models....the tools may be on hold (?) .
Hey all! Just thought I would raise these topics and questions given some of the buisness plans put forwards by SD for Sins. 1) To what extent would a buisness plan based upon releasing content updates, campaigns (single and multi) etc., impact upon the standard of mod tools released and ultimatley the range of what players are allowed to 'easily' mod? 2) If decent mod tools were released to allow teams such as Battle Fleet Gothic to make single and multiplayer campaigns, co
In response to replies 362 onwards --> more info like this please! Also, I would love to get m hands on what u have done for this mod so I can get an idea of how it is going to play and how this would relate to map design etc. I know I might have access to the modcraft area, if so is it available from here?
Oh, I should have also noted that most intelligent design rhetoric assumes an uncomplicated and homogeneous theory of god. If the rhetoric included other theories of god, such as Spinoza's argument that god is not a 'being' or 'consciousness' but rather the laws that 'determine' how the universe and reality tick, then I might see an argument for mentioning god in science classes.
IMO, intelligence design has no place in science classes. It should instead be taught in Religious Education classes and Philosophy classes, period.
Yes, I have put the third map together with all stars placed and about 75% of the 'planets' also placed. There is still a bit to do as I also have to set the inter-star phase lanes through a text editor. That said, technically I could get it finished in around 5 hours or so, which would include some play testing, this assuming I have five hours to spend in one go :P . I should also note that I have the campaign system worked out...but I doubt there will be enough people wanting to play
Apparently there are a couple of threads on the beta forums asking why you can't 'explore' and are heavily restricted to certain paths. Granted it may be the case that the devs have just chosen to limit where the Beta testers can go. Anyway, we will find out for sure as the NDA will be lifted very soon.
Aye Anny, and if they do release in its current state...well Vanguard springs to mind.
Just out of curiousity (and a great interest in AoC), but do you still happen to have any of those beta invite ?
Yes I do and no I won't. No offense bud.....if the game is delayed, which I think it will be, I may take up the beta offers so that both my GF and I can try it out. In all honestly if you know where to look you can egt a pretty good idea of the current state of the game, and it is hype, hype, hype all the way to the bank.
I've had several Beta invites into AoC, though I turned them down due to the 32.9gb, and the corresponding huge download that would wipe my internet download limits for a month and a half! Apparently rumor has it that AoC plays a bit like guild wars in that you can't run off and visit that beautiful scenery in the distance :( --> it is very linear and scripted apparently :(
I've said it before and I will say it again, the choice to go with infinite resources plays a huge role in how sins is playing with respects to churning out ships (often of the same type)and lessening consequence for poor strategic and tactical decisions --> not everyone agrees with this though.
Yeah, I have part completed map three though unfortunately it is not optimized for single player. That said, there are few pirate block points in comparison to the other maps so the AI should have an easier time of it. I have instead been focusing on developing a series of maps for the Battle Fleet Gothic Mod for both single and multiplayer campaign gaming experiences. I chose to do this as I have found that very rarely are custom maps played online :/, and it is custom maps for multip
It depends on the country Mazuo. In the UK I have had no problems returning faulty software and damaged CDs and DVDs; you have to open it and use it to discover if it works or not.
For example, if we created a persistent multiplayer universe for Sins in which new ships, new techs, new maps, new features, new campaigns, multiplayer tournaments, new scenarios, etc. were released on a regular basis, do you think users would subscribe to this? How about if such updates were packaged as micro-expansion packs at say $9 apiece or something?
I wonder where these ideas came from eh? I think the idea of a persistent multiplayer universe wo
Bah, you supercilious git LOL :P ! Well I couldn't be sure whether the Anon on ICO earlier is the same as that person with a forum account (if it exists).
LOL, that was you inno? hehehe
Sorry for cutting the game short mate...but I had to respond to some RL stuff.... BetaAlpha (aka Fandangdo)
I am near convinced that few here understand what strategy actually means and instead focus on rock, paper, scissor, stone, x ship vs y ship arguments :/. I do not think there are so many balance issues as people imply and that in it's current state, sins would make a great tournament.
It's not meant for the early game nor games played on a small map....u really need a strong economy to get them out.
With larger and longer games Novaliths tend to come into their own; particularly when you have 10 or so as I have often done. Generally people tend to surrender at that point :P p.s. U can't colonize straight away after a nova strike.
I thought I would share....I remember when this aired for the first time and it is still just as funny. Part one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7A_B9lB8w5k Part two http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOoZH74tspw&feature=related Part three http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqRSIvWlunU&fe
Well I am pretty sure you will get knocked out in the first round eets :P
What's outside the sphere of what is possible? With regards to what I am suggesting, this is all done by a 'games master' looking at the past games, recording progress and then rolling on tables using an actual die, whether thats a digital or physical one, and then updating the maps through galaxy forge accordingly.
Great idea and something I've been pushing for since mid-beta! :D p.s. When determining times of play, please, please take account of all the other time zones and allow flexibility!
