I`ve been thinking that perhaps both GPG and Ironclad have been pounding the Stardock/Impulse gaming system into shape too.
WarlokLord
Thanks for the update on Entrenchment status. Not to start a new can of worms here, but have IronClad and Stardock been simultaneously working on the second expansion?... (feel free to not answer!...)
I don`t think it unheard of to expect a more solid expansion by the 11th (reported officially via Fileshack). Its been quite some time in Demigod years (!) since any code was released for Entrenchment, so I suspect it will release in fairly good shape. Once its released, then we can immediately begin bugging Ironclad about the diplomacy expansion... (grin) Its good to hear a firm release date for Entrenchment. Just a single day after FEAR 2 too.
It would take a medium sized fleet devoted to defending each planet from such AI seige rushes. It was annoying, but did anyone actually LOSE a game to that? That's the important question.
Good point - I agree with this perspective completely.
There's no ETA, it's going the "It'll be out when it's done" route. 0.91.002 is the latest build to my knowledge, I am not sure why it would show something other unless they're just uploading a new build and getting ready to post about it.
Thanks for the info. I`ll just ignore the verification error - its never caused me any other hassle.
I`ll ask the usual question - I can`t find it mentioned otherwise these days. What is the latest eta on Entrenchment? And I wonder if I`ll have to reinstall something... I am informed of an error in my Sins install when I Verify Entrenchment/Sins. 0.91.002 is the Entrenchment version I have. That the newest? Perhaps the error I spoke of was simply a residual artifact of some sort that can be ignored. Mind you the game runs perfectly. Probably nothing to worry about.<
Being able to build a substantial base/colony/settlement, essentially terraforming and augmenting say a Dead Asteroid body, would be a very cool capability. Most definitely dependent upon vast amounts of research, resources, and time though. Sounds like a Vasari development to me.
The biggest problem with Spore was not just the limited activations. Spore has Invasive DRM. The kind that messes up your entire computer. It will kill I-Tunes, and Nero (any burning software). After you've discovered what is killing your computer you try to uninstall the game - hoping to remove the DRM from your system. Guess what - it stays in your system. My sister had to wipe her hard drive to finally eliminate all the DRM
Heres how it works, im going to list things with numbers. You vote yay or nay beside the corresponding number. If you vote nay please provide a brief reason. At least answer the first few. 1. All races star bases move 2. Phase jump inhibitor built into star base. What percent should it be? Keep in mind phase jump inhibitors for planets are usually 700% 3. Revamp Mines on Advent and Vasri 4. Starbases take more money and time to
oh, and WarlokLord. I don't care if my security suite becomes one with my OS as long as I can remove it properly, be it with third party software or whatelse...
Well, not everything is compatible with everything else. The deeper the anti-virus embeds itself, the less options you have to temporarily suspend its operations when you encounter a software conflict. There is a parallel here with DRM schemes.<
Strategic Wonders Sins seems primed for the addition of Wonders ala the Civilization series. You could have such structures provide influence as well as improve relations diplomatically either as a one time boost, an ongoing bonus to diplomacy, or a smattering of both. The existence of such in a sector could provide a boost to tourism and therefore trade of all sorts. Certain types could provide some sort of boost to research or to rese
Now with Entrenchment coming close to release it is becoming especially important to consider strategic notifications in Sins. We have ample tactical iconography and feedback, but we need more strategic level iconography and feedback. In other strategy games of grand conquering scope we take notice of achievements of the empires. When somebody utilizes galaxy-shattering tech we are at the least informed that they have (i.e. Star Wars: Empire At War`s Death Star completion...). In Sins
Some of these ideas have the potential to suck the strategic life out of this game. If people want to Mine the spacelanes they ought to be able to. If people want to neglect their fleets in order to ***Entrench*** (the whole POINT of this expansion) then they ought to be able to try. If people wish to neglect Empire research in order to achieve a Strategic weapon in the military tech tree, then they should be able to. If a player strives to build nothing but defenses in a game, then y
Maby a good balance could be creating a ship class that pushes the mines away (like a reverse magnetic field - NOT a 1 to 1 basis) on a reasonable range scale, pushing all the mines back within that area range (enough to protect a fleet). This would work for the mines including the Homing mines from Advent and mass gravity well mines from Vassari e.g pushes them away. However it may also be useful if the mines went back to thei
Credit where credit is due. Note that some entries may have both positives *and* negatives mentionable in this and the "DRM Nays" thread. Sacred 2 1. You can install this game on 2 systems off a single CD. 2. A wealth of post-release patched game material (levels/quests, creatures, items, etc.). 3. No DVD required in the drive to run. Prince Of Persia 1. Not interested in this one myself, but if E
I like the idea that Mine Fields slow down friendlies that move past/through them. I also like the idea that mines in close proximity to other mines can cause collateral mine damage when they detonate. I would add the following idea: Fighters and perhaps Bombers do not set off Mines, or at least they take far less damage, being more nimble and more able to evade sudden hazards. Think of Mines as being made to counter movement of larger starships. Fighters and perhaps Bombers - but esp
Darklands certainly had the best armour system & armour visuals. Really unforgiving statistical curses though (nay to 'permanent penalties'...).
Cool. Let us still mine the piss out of sectors though please... !
Wow. Never thought of a moving space station. Eminently cool, very creative. I LOVE that facility. Awesome design job Ironclad! Thank you! . I also thoroughly appreciate the entirely distinct research tree for the station - it adds more strategic depth to research decisions, forcing us to even more carefully ponder research choices. I like the direction of this expansion! Am definitely looking forward to both the full release and the other two!
So far, I have seen three issues with the mod. First, the Terran Starbase wasn't upgrading, and second, there is a bug in the mines. If you lay out a field and then right clock to cancel, you get all the money for the entire field back for each mine you clear. Also, the game will let you go way into the red, rather than stopping you at "0". The mines are also too powerful. You can seed your enitre system with over 750 patterns of
My Vasari cap ship did the same thing despite having autouse turned Off. It *is* a bug - simply telling a cap ship to travel to a system should not imply anything beyond travelling to that system. Failure to rectify this entails a step of micromanagement whenever you deploy Colony cap ships. Mind you I have no doubt this will get remedied.
NAY Dead Space EA sees fit to run a disc security check at certain doors as you go to open them . The pause is profound and jarring, not to mention somewhat insulting. If they were trying to mask the processes within the gameplay, they failed. Battlefield series EA compels you to successfully log in to their master servers before you even set options. What if those server
Impulse offers Sacred 2 for sale, digital download only. If they offered to ship out a boxed copy as with Sins and Demigod I would have ordered it immediately, especially after my experience with Amazon. Here in Canada we are forced to sit and wait for a stupid bilingual edition of the game. Part of this enforcement is the concept to Amazon.com that we are a seperate region from the rest of North America, and they therefore cannot fulfill my order of the english version that is alread
Yes, it does run more smoothly now.
Norton`s newest Ghost software package is one of the most bloated and weavelling (! i.e. burrowing, embedding) bits of code I have seen. This is Norton`s standard, so I wouldn`t be hopeful about other packages they produce. Ghost served its purpose and is now exorcised & banished to the box, away from my system... That simply for a tool that copies drive data bit for bit.
