I have a game that is 6 hours in so far, and the AI's (medium) aren't showing any sign of stopping kicking my ass. they've also taken few of my heavily defended planets with fully upgraded combat starbases (two TEC AI's working together), and they seem to be systemically taking my borderworlds. Or maybe i'm just paranoid, "never trust a computer you can't throw through a window" -someone else.

Back in beta 1, i just had my carriers sit on the edge of the gravwell, and let bombers take out starbases. That doesn't work so well anymore because the damage that bombers do against buidings was reduced in the last update. The anti-structure cruisers are the real SB killers you need to look out for, but if bombers give you problems, just send your fighters after them. Or with TEC, build hangars near the SB, as they can get a flak cannon upgrade. And Death Star was destroyed by a si
And, while we're on the topic of AI - they don't actually put scouts into their fleets, so they are completely helpless against mines.
Actually, i witnessed an attack to my heavily mined planet by Medium AI that consisted of three scouts, and five siege frigates. However, after witnessing my fortifications, they retreated immediately, so i don't know if they could have survived the minefield.

I've newer used a firewire port for anything, and with USB 3.0 on the way, the same may well happen to this technology, atleast the eSATA ports on my MB have gone unused. Still, it's interesting to see how computer technology develops. BTW, what ever happened to wireless USB?

I played a five hour game last night (that isn't even showing signs of ending anytime soon) with all settings on max, with no performance problems, even though i got a bit mine spam happy on few planets. On 2.0 the game crashed after a few minutes with max settings, and the game also feels faster, so it's a huge improvement [e digicons][/e] BTW, PLEASE remove "constuction complete" soundclip from mines.

Whenever i'm installing newer drivers, i just download the installation files, and run it normally without uninstalling anything, never had any problems. Replacing drivers with an older version is a bit more complicated, but newer drivers have never given me any problems.

Also there's Universe at War, with three very different races. If anything, the Sins races are already too similar, keep the moving starbases for Vasari only!

There is follow-up story to the article linked in the OP, that confirms this has nothing to do with DRM. For this one, we have the cheaters instead of pirates to blame.

Not yet, apparently, and i didn't even finished it yet! Reading through the thread on the official forums, it appears this came as a surprise for Epic aswell, and it's an issue with Windows certificates. I'll go get my torch and pitchfork, but i'll give them some time to resolve the problem before joining the angry mob.

No love for Qwaar-Jet ? Armed to the teeth and then some, classed as a Heavy Cruiser, but i bet that could eat a fleet full of Kodiaks for breakfast. Escorted by few Skaal-Tel's and you might as well kiss your butt goodbye. <img src="http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/homeworld/images/d/d1/Qwaar-Jet.jpg" alt="" width="762" height="386"

Yes, same sort of range display as Supreme Commander has would be nice, however in Forged Alliance displaying the ranges causes immense lagging, that we can do without [e digicons]:P[/e]
We (Ironclad) have already begun work on the second micro-expansion. We are also hard at work on a new project.
I hate to be teased like that, i really do. Oh, well... [e digicons][/e] Seriously though, can you give a rough estimate how soon after the release of Entrenchment will the beta of the next mini-expansion begin? Hours, days, weeks?

I like, very much (on paper, atleast, final judgement pending). Hopefully you can release it by weekend. The lenght of that changelist ([e digicons]:w00t:[/e] ) also explains why it took this long.

For me, half the fun of RTS games is building and fortifying a base. securing resources and climbing the tech tree. I'm not too happy about the beta, but i'll give it more chances to impress me before i delete it (unlike the FEAR 2 demo). However i'm completely hooked to Soulstorm now, yesterday night i assaulted the Imperial guard stronghold as the Sisters of Battle. Finally, after losing twice to a Baneblade, (that thing makes a C&C mammoth tank look VERY harmless), i finally wa

Blizzard is very protective of their IP's, and since SC2 is on the works, modder(s) would propably get a "cease and desist" order faster than you can say "WTF?"
