Related to your second suggestion, how about giving Vasari Assault and Defense starbases, Defense as it is now, without moving ability, and more expensive Assault SB, with faster buiild rate, higher initial HP and weapons capability. I like your third idea aswell, Advent scout has the Sacrifice ability, so maybe it could be applied to strikecraft too.

No news is good news? Usually not with updates [e digicons]:([/e]
Campaign has been requested since the release, (maybe even before), so i'm pretty confident we'll get one at some time :) But sins works pretty well without one, too.
I just bought Soulstorm through Steam (only 3,75 €), and the DoW 2 beta appeared immediatly on My Games list. I suppose it should appear for you too. There is a store page for it, but it's only for the public beta, there doesn't seem to be a way to identify as SS an owner.
That's right. They both appeared on My Games list.
Soulstorm is now ridiculously cheap at Steam, only 3,75 €. Of course it's trick to get people pay for the DoW 2 beta access, but they got me... [e digicons]:-"[/e]
I haven't got GalCiv 2, but Frank Klepacki, the original Red alert composer is supposed to have done RA3 music (Hell March 3, at least [e digicons][/e] ), but it's not uncommon for two different musics to have similar passages, for example, one game i played on SNES had music that had exactly the same part as a TV-series tune. The shows in question was made by finnish for finnish, so i doubt the american composer had heard that. BTW, there are indeed sound banks, that can be u
I had this too, back in 1.0something, after a couple of times, i figured what was the problem. As fragieD said, you can just set everyhing back on from the UI menu. I thought this would be fixed in the 1.1 patch, or has no-one reported it before? (I didn't [e digicons]:P[/e] )
I've wondered that too. I have awhole bunch of "Games for Windows", but sins is the only one that stores stuff under AppData. edit: Upon closer inspection, plenty of games store stuff there, but sins is the only one that has saves there
The alternative would be to fix one little thing at a time and update it through Impulse (isn't that what it was meant to do?). I guess it could easily lead to chaos regarding to feedback and change history, though, not to mention that not everybody might update instantly, and feedback from previous versions would be mixed with current version and... [e digicons]:S[/e] Yeah, this way is better :)
No sinful weekend yet, then. Well, no problem, i'm a patient man, with (WAY) too many games to play already! :p
Starbases need to be more powerfull, but i'm quite happy with their looks and size. As it is now, seeing a starbase makes me go "ooh, a soon-to-be cool explosion!", not "Holy shit! Retreat! Retreat!". I like the first, but would prefer the latter :)
The only advantages of multiple PJI's is to cover larger area, or to make the enemy destroy them all before they can jump at normal speeds (good for heavily defended chokepoint planets).
ID Software makes games with OpenGL, and Doom 3 and Quake 4 can be made to work with linux natively (Linux executables are available from ID's FTP server). I'm not sure if their IdTech 5 engine, that they use for RAGE and Doom 4, is still based on OGL, but ID has been very favourable of linux gaming in the past, so i don't see why that would change. Unfortunately in those games the gameplay was not on par to graphics, so hopefully they found a "John Carmack" of gameplay for RAGE and Doom 4 :)
Mines are disposable self-destruct munitions, so it would make sense to make them as simple (and cheap) as possible, which would rule out any IFF system, also it would heavily discourage mine spam on colonized worlds. I like the idea. [e digicons][/e] (On paper, atleast)
I installed it on my unused 80GB hdd yesterday, and tried playing Crysis Warhead on it. Honestly, i don't see any difference in performance. It starts faster than the Vista i have as a primary OS, but that is propably caused by all the junk i have starting with Vista. W7 UI has some nice features, but nothing special. So far, i've seen nothing that would make me want to have W7 instead of Vista. The Hard drive i have W7 installed is slower than the drive i have Vista, and also has smaller cac
Silveressa: make a copy of the sins folder before installing entrenchment, that way you can have both. BTW, is there any official word, unoffical word, wild speculation, crackpot stories or bathroom gossip when the next update to Entrenchment will be coming? :P
I just wonder if the no DRM decision will get them more sales than lose them, but i suppose they've done the math. And Serik makes good points too. And thanks for the information Wintersong, i'll check it out (Funny i heard it here, and not the relic forums i also visit frequently).
Company of Heroes was completely DRM free, and a patch was released for it, that enabled the use DX 10 features (free content for buyers, in other words). It was heavily pirated, which was the reason for the DRM used in the Opposing Fronts expansion (disc in drive, or online authentication, IIRC). We'll see if history repeats itself with this, DRM free game will get pirated plenty, just look at World of Goo. I'll propably skip this, i played the Winter Assault demo, and it failed to c
I've tried Ubuntu a few times, 8.04 being the latest, but the overall impression i've got from them is "Why am i torturing myself with this". Back when i had Ubuntu 7.something installed, i wanted to enable DVD playback on it, and finally found the decoder necesessary, that then informed me that the software "could be considered illegal in your country" (or something like that), 10 minutes later i was re-installing XP. I later found out that decoders aren't illegal, but decrypters
If it was memory, it should BSOD other games and applications too, still checking it couldn't hurt. Have you checked your system temperatures while playing? If you have two monitors you can use, set up an extended desktop so you can play the game on the first, and see the temperatures on the second, if not alt-tabbing before you expect the BSOD to happen should work.
To use the offline mode the games must be updated to the latest versions, so you must connect the computer to the internet atleast once. Back when my computer didn't have this handy WLan card, i had to drag the computer to the other room to use the internet, and the modem is so damn old that it doesn't have Vista drivers, which meant i had to setup Lan connection between the computers to access the internet from my machine. After doing that though, HL2 worked perfectly.
There was some talk during 1.05 that logistics slots used by refineries would be better used for trade ports, as in they give more money to buy resources, than the refineries give resources. Is this still the case in 1.12?
Half life IS only available through Steam. What you're planning is perfectly legal, just make a backup of your game(s) (File->Back up games, IIRC), transfer or make the back-Ups to a DVD or USB-drive, install Steam on the second machine, login with your account, and restore back-ups. I haven't done this myself, but that is how's it supposed to work. Steam allows you to use your games on any computer you wan't, unless teher is a third-party DRM used, but that is obiviously
You can set whatever resolution you want from user.settings file, set the lines "VideoFullScreenWidth" and "VideoFullScreenHeight" to what you want. It was the only way to get my game to run in 1366*768 resolution. Make sure that "VideoRefreshRate" is set to value your screen supports (60 should be safe). The user.setting file can be found in " :\Users\ \AppData\local\Ironclad games\Sins of a Solar Empire\setting" (in Vis
