Happened to me yesterday too. I was watching my brand new Vasari Rebel Titan decimating a pirate fleet attacking my colony while i had a starbase duking it out with an Advent starbase on another planet, and it just crashed to desktop as if it had just shutdown. And i had the game on full settings and 1920x1080 resolution at the time, i'll load the last autosave and see if it happens again, and if it does i'll lower the settings. Edit: Replayed that battl

Personally i never use quick start, so first thing i do is upgrade the final level of civilian infrastructure on the homeworld, followed by bulding two scouts (or one if using a small map) and five light frigates. Then it depends on the race, for Advent i always build a Halcyon and colony frigate, for TEC i build an Akkan, or a Kol and colony frigate depending on the availbility of neutral extractors, and since Vasari's scouts can capture them, always the battleship (though with Rebellion
As TEC it is pretty simple: Send in a fleet of Ogrovs (about 20 should do the job, though you'll probably be fine with 15 or so as well) supported by flak frigates and Hoshiko's. They turn a starbase into a scrapheap in no time.
And here have I been using 5 max [e digicons][/e] Those things take a lot of fleet supply. They get the job done, though it takes a while. And Artificial Incompetenc

Space ponies came long before this MLP craze. They have nothing to do with that atleast. And for some reason they like hang out on Pirate Bases and asteroids, so i don't think the Sins ponies are as friendly either [e digicons]8O[/e]
Quoting ToJKa, reply 19I figured that since they are "cruisers" they are countered by bombers Always remember that the term "cruisers" is lore based and not code based. In game code they are frigates.
So bombers are useful only against capitals and structures? I've been doing it wrong all these years... [e digicons]8C[/e]

They can fire outside the range (almost?) every attack of a Transcencia, and bombers take forever to kill them. When i play TEC i love them for the same reason :hehe: They have light armor whereas bombers specialize against heavier armor, thus they are supposed to take forever to kill them. Use fighters on your Advent starbases for better

After seeing a Level 10 Eradica in action i have to vote for that one. It single handedly destroyed a about 50 ship fleet, that included a level 4 Ragnarov, and had plenty of health left afterwards [e digicons]:omg:[/e]

The mine bug is starting to bug me, do i need to start playing without allowing AI to be TEC? For some reason i've not seen a single advent mine yet.

The vasari loyalist titan seriously reminds me of the Seraphim experimental super bomber in SC:FA. Less shiny, but similar(-ish) form. Can i try it out yet? [e digicons]:pout:[/e]

I attacked a Advent Loyalist and couldn't defeat them, just because the culture prevented me from taking over their planets. Their remaining worlds were in a circular pattern, so as i wiped out their planets, they kept recolonising them elsewhere [e digicons][/e]

They do require a lot of XP to level up, so losing everything might be a bit much, but there needs to be more to losing one than just the rebuild time and resource cost. Or make Titan level retaining an additional, costly and time consuming research item? But what do i know? I only play SP

72 Replies 279,246 Views

Yeah, did that myself. The only remaining enemy was more interested in a common Asteroid i owned than the occupied planet. And lost several capitals ships and a lot of cruiser to the automated defenses without causing any damage that would have costed me [e digicons][/e] Hell, that asteroid didn't even have a starbase! How can you lose three capital ships to beam platforms?! [e digicons]o_O[/e] I also agree that the countdown is too short. Increase i

You know, i played in the Entrenchment beta (if i remember correctly) and have never used the Red Button. Seems like a waste of upgrade slots for an ability that destroys it when i can use it on things that keep it fighting longer. But given that damage and range it would be one hell of a "going out with a bang" [e digicons][/e]

One thing that bugs me about the AI is that it doesn't react to me attempting to win the game by research or occupation. I played TEC Loyalists in Dopplegangers and had prepared double starbases on each planet next to the star, expecting a full-on assault by all the AI's when i started the victory research. AI's response? One of them sent two scout frigates [e digicons]o_O[/e] Another one was when i went for occupation victory, as far as i can tell, no AI

Actually, it seems the same applies to plasma storms, magnetic clouds, and starbases destabilization effects too. Not sure, but i'd bet it does for phase distruptor aswell. Edit: i was wrong, phase disruptors do work.

Just noticed that stars effects' aren't applied to ships, in this case a yellow star with Solar Radiation (the antimatter regenration boost every star has) and Solar Flares (improved shields regenration rate). The effects aren't shown in the infocard, and judging from antimatter regeneration rate they do not work either.

Yeah, i had that same thing happen in my game too. The AI lost a lot of Capital Ships doing that. Which left their capital undefended, my Purge Vessels and Adjudicators handled it one their own [e digicons][/e]
