Well, I just came back from spending a weekend with him, and showed him this forum thread too. I won't say everything he said, and I'll condence all I can, but basically, he said it did not matter to him where you guys store what, or how you "store" info or why. The bottom line is it's copy protection, just like any other copy protection, and the game stoped working when he got his new computer (BECAUSE of your copy protection, regaurdless of what you call it). He told me is I got him the new

That sounds about right Jobias. The game seems to keep a tab on the XP of destroyed Cap ships, and when Resurrection is used on any new cap ship built, it becomes the same lvl of the destroyed ship. But, since I've always built the same type of Cap that just got destroyed, I don't know if it would work on another type (for example, what if you had not built a Radiance I wonder). It sounded overpowered to me at first, but, to make the best out of this power, you pretty much have to kee
Well, I would like one of each ship type, but, until 1.1 comes out, I'll just take a dozen LRMs please ;)
About Bitmaps: Lower is faster (and uglier) right?
How about they just put "# of Quits" in the rankings. If you see a player with lots of quits, odds are, they are one of those "quit 1 second after I see it might not be an easy and quick win" type player.
Here's how it works (I had the same question last month): Any time a ship is destroyed, it's xp are "sent" to any mothership with the Reserection ability. When a new Capitol Ship is created, you/it can cast "Reserection" on the newly built ship, and it gets a huge XP bonus. Anyway, I rarely play Advent, but, after you get that ability, simply move that ship to a Gravity Well that has a Cap Ship Factory in it (that's what I do anyway), and it will Level Up any new cap ship you build
Well, that's a pleasant surprise; I thought it would be released next week for sure :)
Supreme Commander was really the first game I started playing MP a lot with; their MP service was great. Casual unranked games or ranked; easy access to custom maps, mods and replays; detailed info on the game your about to consider joining. So I was a little shell-shocked when I tried ICO. I was barley even able to chat in the lobby because of the "joined/left" spam. I could not see or host with lots of people (I did finally get my Port forwarded thanks to great help from people, but my frie
Well, I'll mention it to my friend; who knows, maybe he has another operation comming up ;)
Ya, buying used games now-a-days is risky business. Between registrations and limited installs, the odds are not good.
No, the name/password worked just fine "until" he got the new compter, then, somehow, the game knew it was not the "same" computer as before, and I guess thought we were pirates or some such #$&@. I have no idea; cause I prety much just gave up too. And yes, some nice Devs on this board have told me if I send them all the new info, they'd fix it alllll up. I'm not interested; the entire process was such a huge pita for both of us, that no amount of "fun" I may get could make up for
First, the point is pretty mute now because my friend refuses to ever touch that game again. But, when he got his new computer (including new hard drive), "everything" including windows xp and GCII was reinstalled. Using the exact same passwords to get on the forums and to write to stardock got us error messages saying "you have no accounts here". BUT, when we tried to make new accounts, we got never ending messages saying "That name is already in use", "That passowrd is already in use", or w
I have the perfect example: I have a friend, a sherif, 57 years old. He had to have an operation, and he way going to have to do some recouping for several weeks at home. So, I got him GCII Dread Lords to play during his recoup. When I came to visit, I'd watch him play, and we ended up pretty much playing this one LONG game together over many weeks. Anyway, his computer conks out, so I help him buy a new one. That was the LAST time we ever play GCII, because the game reads that his compute
As for "custom ships". OMG, they are still having huge debates as it is over how to balance things with standard ships; customizable ships would be a nightmare. We all know that there would end up being just one or two weapons and defences in every ship built in the end, and then the "spammming Lazer/Sheilds" threads would start. Customizable works ok in turn based, and vs the AI, but in Real-Time and vs Humans, well, they might be able to balance it, by, I don't know, maybe the time S
I'd gladly pay the same price I do for a Hanger, for a larger version of a turret, that does extra damage to Cruisers and Caps (with much longer range of course). Then you'd have a choice: Hangers or Seige cannons.
First, thanks tons Multianna. Second: is it me, or is that just a really overly hidden, complex, silly place to put that stuff (especially since I installed my game on D: so I did not clog up my C: drive)?
Did multiple searches for a simular thread. Looked twice in every folder under the SINs folder. STILL can find them. I downloaded some replays, but have no idea how to watch them now.
It's kind'a sad when building Hangers and turrets are "not worth it". I understand that with chokepoints, making defences too strong can lead to impassable stalemates, but as it is, I wish that when I spent that much time/money/resourses on a planet packed to the rim with defences, that it made an opponent flinch a bit. As it is, Repair bays seem the only thing worth really building; I wish it were otherwise (big space defence guns are my favorite part of most sci-fi movies/games).
Frogboy and theleif, thanks for the posts. It's very difficult seeing people so rude to others, but never posting "more" in case it flames the fire. It's VERY nice to see some moderation Frogboy :)
Would'nt a 1v1, both using the same race prove more about skill, and no worries about "Imbalanced" talk?
Gorgs: The OP post was a joke. Sarcasm. I love the new AI.
Played and won on Hard tonight. Best game ever vs the AI. Unfair will really be a challenge. Wish I had more time for MP games.
Please do a 1v1, then post it. I'd really like to see a replay of good players do a 1v1. I'd learn a lot (till 1.1 that is).
Hmmm, let me remember: At first, easy, then medium, then hard, then Unfair. I lost my first easy or two, after that (and watching a few replays), I never lost again. That is, until 1.4. Just lost my second game vs 1.4 (Unfair). First they suck you in, using a a gimped AI. Then, after your all relaxed and you think it might be a good week to try decreasing your medications, they release the REAL AI in 1.4.
That's a releif to know Drex. Boy, I was wondering there for a minute if there were serval ex-teammate noobs of yours out there shivering in their dog house ;) One of my friends is still playing the demo, deciding if he will get the game; I'm 90% sure he will. And when he does, ever after a dozen games, he will still be noobish. But it's always a great challenge (and fun) to team with noob friends, and play vs the AI, cause if your a decent player, you can still win with "not good"
