Good post. And I do agree with you on the general aspect of this. The starbases are not to be feared as they currently are (and how we all hoped they would be). The problem with this is that the game is overridden with planets. You have almost no choice to have a true "outpost" on the frontier. Usually you're always 1 jump away from another planet; be it your's or an allies, or an enemy's. One thought I had *and this was spur of the moment as I was read

Starbases can be destroyed while still under construction. I did it last night. The first time I saw a starbase I was scared to go into that grav well, but then I noticed that the computer (normal difficulty) had a starbase on practically every planet they owned. This was for both computer opponents on the same team. My AI teammate didn't make a single starbase. Maybe they were defensive or whatever, dunno. But anyway, after encountering my first starba

Is it just me or is it annoying to hear this every time a single mine is completed? It says "minefield complete" for one thing, when only a single mine was. And the "structure complete" sound plays every time one is finished as well. That's 10 times per field. I can only imagine laying 10 fields at once and hearing it 100 times in a row. Not here to insult anyone, but Kruppe's little analogy was used as just that. It was a rhetorical situation and what was said in it was not him talking, but his simulation of two people. Or at least that's how I read it [e digicons]^_^[/e] . Okay, now on to what I'd like to say: A campaign would be great to have. I do agree with that. But I also agree that the time and effort would be better spent elsewhere at the moment. I'm not saying to never

They can still learn from each other. It's not like pros are the only ones who have stuff to contribute. Or maybe it's so they can do noob v pro team games. [e digicons]|-)[/e]
I'm saying they should rewrite the whole damn thing, include an absolute crapload of new content, features, shiny graphics, fewer/none hardcodes, and release it as Sins 2.
And then you would complain that they want to charge another $39.99, right? I'm sure the devs want to see monetary returns for their efforts. Congrats and praises only go so far.

I think I've mentioned this before, but what about minimum ranges for ships? It'd help to stop battle clumping as ships too close to another ship wouldn't be able to target. Not sure how this works for realism (and it's probably a dumb suggestion anyway) but if someone can justify it for me, more power to you. lmao

To keep micro to a minimum, the shield system addressed here should just be handled by the AI. ie: if a ship is taking a lot of damage from one direction, up the mitigation there and lower it in the other areas. This would also make flanking very important; as if an opponent's fleet is taking heavy damage from mainly the front, having a small group of your fleet loop to the side would cause greater damage b/c of the mitigation being lowered there.

Too bad you can't combine similar abilities from multiple caps. :( Like 3 Raptures using domination to take over an opponent's Cap. Guess that's asking for a bit much though. [e digicons]^_^[/e] But yeah I never even use Clensing Brilliance, or the Radiance at all unless I have an extra Cap slot.
