why bother any more. the game is locked and the wonderful features we had hoped for just aren't going to be added.
We're hoping map triggers will permit events, but that's something that might make people try to make the campaign this game sorely lacks.

No. If it did come out, I'd wait a year until it dropped to $10 buck or less to be more in keeping with my expectations and so some decent patching could happen.
ai loves building lots of culture towers. I agree ^, get caps between culture generating world and the one you want to colonize. Also, use anti-module fleet with anti-fighter fleet to rip through culture towers.
If you want SOASE -any of them- to use more than 2GB, use Linux.
If only there were easier research "switches" that turn on/off research items...

yet another reason 7DS changed the scale on maps... overlapping planets -pretty, but pretty impossible at times.
not sure why planet couldn't have ability (passive and any owner) that makes it have a node stabilizer. this way, no home planet has one and maps can be made so "home" systems are defensible. I'm not sure how Ai would handle this.
