I suppose your update servers are a bit overwhelmed? because it's not doing anything for me :( this is what it looks like for me (waited 30 min or so...)

uhm okay there is a small difference in the planet-income graph. but I call that a visual or statistics bug. did 2 games as vasari and tec vs. a hard economist vasari and tec. both times my overall income rate was slightly higher or exactly than his. since there is no other income rate in the first 5-10 minutes of a game it's just a bugged graph, nothing else.
Hi!So please what's the difference among easy, normal and hard?I just found the difference between normal and hard. Each time I've looked at end-game stats I've been wondering why my average credit income was the highest, but credit income from planets was significantly lower than that of AIs. So I started a game on normal, just played some 10 minutes and quit. Lo and behold, this time my credit income from planets was almost identical to these of AIs.Conclusion: AIs at hard have about 25
-Improved AI ability choice and usage.
does this mean the AI now stops fleeing from every damn battle even when they outnumber me 2:1 ? - does it now count in their allied fleets? - does it now properly attack my planets by shooting my constructors first? - can it now go around planet defenses to bomb my planet to hell? those are the major AI problems I'd love to see in the near future - better yet in 1.1 ;-)

great! that's what I was hoping for the most. after 10-12 hours of work my firefox sometimes would stack up to 1GB and more slowing it down so much I have to restart it 3-4 times a day. now the bad thing is I still have to use firefox 2 for development because it will be the dominant fox for many more month. I'll probably have to wait until they decide to stop releasing updates and security fixes for f2... until then it's quadruple browser time ;-)

how much vram do your 9600GT cards have? I would think that the 9600GT is not the best choice for high resolutions as it is a mid-range card designed for 1280x1024 gaming. SLI won't do you any good at this game

I don't quite understand how the current p2p network architecture could be more efficient than a client-server one. currently in a 8 player game every player has to receive and transmit data to 7 other players - so its 6 times more network traffic than if it was only 1 server and 8 clients. sure the server has to handle combat, movement and economy of 8 players and up to 10.000 ships, but that's what servers are for ;-) this would also greatly decrease the cpu-power ne

I doubt this is sound-card related as stuttering sound only makes you hear there is something wrong with your system. either your vga or cpu is too weak, you don't got enough ram and your system is swapping or you have other components connected (like my usb-wlan adapter) which kinda lock up the system and slow it down. things you can do to find out whats causing it: - try removing any unnecessary hardware from your pc (including external components) - tune down gr

a sins server would be really nice because the peer-to-peer net makes it hard to run larger games, once the host is gone it's over. and that happens way too often... i don't think p2p is a good net-architecture for such a game in multiplayer.

yeah I noticed that too. playing vs. 7 hard AIs alone was a joke because only 2 of them were the "agressor" type - the rest got smashed by my underdeveloped vasari fleet in no time. the only way to get a real AI-challenge is to play vs. hard (or unfair) agressor AIs all boxed in 1 team and locked teams.

my problem just solved itself. apparently it's a common problem with the 2000-series of the belkin n1 usb wlan-adapter. once I unplug it everything runs smooth again ;-)

oh forgot to mention: GFX: Radeon HD3870 with Catalyst 8.5 drivers Windows XP Pro SP3 - all updated. having no virus scanner, no firewall or any other similar program running in the back while playing sins.

i have a similar issue with my new gaming-rig: Board: MSI P45 Platinum CPU: Intel E8400 (3 GHz) RAM: OCZ PC2-9200 Reaper HPC Edition using the onboard sound-chip "Realtek ALC888" with the latest 1.95 drivers from realtek. my sound is stuttering after 5-10 min of gaming and then keeps it for the rest of the game. but only when I hear ingame-voices, not battle-sounds or music. you can also see the whole game stuttering when this happens - it's l

yeah finally! the malice issue made me stop playing for a while ... so now I'm going to reserve some large-map-sins-time for next weekend yay! :D

oh please stop it. I can't read anymore of this "oh my super giga-quad system runs all fine - you're all wrong" stuff... there are *obvious* some scenarios in sins which can slow down even the best hardware available. since sins claims to run smooth even on moderate hardware there is definitely something wrong here. to all posters claiming there is nothing wrong here try this savegame: [link="http://files.filefront.com/104+advent+vs+adventsave/;10009732;/filein

hello there, I don't know if this has been adressed before but in my latest game I noticed something odd... I played a medium random map vs. 2 hard AIs and those pirates really pissed me off. So right after their last attack I payed them a visit with 5 almost fully upgraded cap-ships to whipe out their base - it was an easy job yet it took them quite a while... I sent them with focus fire from cannon to cannon and then finally to attack the base itself. I didn't pa

how can cpu be the limiting factor here? the TP had its cpu at 3.1 GHz and a total freeze. I have a 2.2 GHz mobile core 2 duo with partial freezes you have a 2.66 GHz core 2 duo with almost no freezes I also played a medium 30 planet map yesterday vs. 1 TEC and 1 Vasari and in mid game had a battle twice the size of that save game over 500+ ships and 30+ capital ships where involved no hangups and no freeze at any time through that battle. so how

there is one thing I don't get about this "issue". what the hell do you do with 400.000 credits? at a point where I reach 150-300 credits / sec I have all research finished, including ship crews and fleet size. most of my planets would be 100% upgraded with all logistics and tactical slots fully used. the few new worlds I fight on or capture would by almost instantly upgraded since it doesn't cost more than 20-30k to build just about everthing you can on one planet

yes, so it's pretty obvious you have a hardware issue on that computer. i was reffereing to the psu as beeing damaged, not underpowered. even if that's not the case - something clearly must be wrong. computers don't just shut off when they're in the mood ;) last possible explenation that comes to my mind is a virus or trojan that fires off when sins is beeing run.

49 Replies 20,867 Views

yes I also noticed that. i had one very remote planet with fully upgraded 54 tactical slots. with no enemy in that area I build 3 deliverance engines, 5 trade ports and 2 culture-spread-thingys yet the planet remained at 45% allegiance at all times. I was under the impression that deliverance engines would increase culture and thereby allegiance no matter how far away that planet is.
Its a 650W PSU. It does not crash when doing anything else. And it actually goes through the whole vista shut down process. It does not simply turn off as if there was no longer power.
it still might be your PSU. if the error only occurs playing sins then your other games don't eat up all your cpu / gpu and ram power like sins. i would say that after startup and the first minutes ingame sins uses 100% of your cpu, 100% of your gpu loads up tons of ram and make
what does or should "a deadly secret" do?i just discovered it on a desert planet i had and the second it was found the planet got kinda "disabled" - like it doesn't exist anymore.i can't build anything, all my build-queue is gone and the constructors vanished...can't colonize it either because my ships just ignore it like it's not there?!You can read descriptions for planet bonuses by selecting the planet and mousing over the window where it shows how much % is explored.
