How could he have the advent culture spy upgrade as TEC? [e digicons]>_>[/e] it seems this is either a bug or just working as intended, but i never had that situation...
sirphoenix
if i had to decide on priority it would be in this form: 1. TNG 2. DS9 3. Voyager 4. Enterprise 5. TOS to like TOS even a bit i was probably born 20 years too late :D
i never was in any US arcade because i live in the EU :-D konami ain't the big player for pc-gaming thus i find the whole contest to be a bit unfair to match console vs. pc gaming as console clearly has the larger player-base. i pretty much sucked up all games released by blizzard, valve and micropose/firaxis over the past 15 years. now IC joined them because i am 100% certain to suck up all games with the name "sins" in it ;-)
the round is still open and i just voted for IC. funny thing is i never even heard of Konami or of one of their games and i startet playing PC games back in 1992 ;-)
at least for the vasari SB turning around actually means something when you have the frontal deflector shield researched. as the turning really takes ages i appreciate the automatic movement if it works as intended ;)
wow leroyyyyyy... what a classic. i remember back in the days when we arrived there in mid 2005 as one of the first groups on the server. man, that is now almost 4 years ago! and all went downwards when BC was released... R.I.P. WoW - back in those days i had a really good time ;)
that is not a bug. you probably took the AIs homeworld and "defeated" it, of course the remaining planets, ships and structures will remain in the game to be shot down and taken, but it won't rebuild or attack anymore. ------- there is 1 bug i encountered with entrenchment 1.01 with the vasari missle defense platform, the research where it can disable all passive regeneration sometimes effects ships forever. i was vasari myself finishing off anot
it had the same issue yesterday when trying to update the sins hotfix. with the release of entrenchment i uninstalled sins completely, deleted all folders & configs and cleaned up the registry. then did a full an clean install of sins - patched to 1.15 and installed entrenchment 1.0 - all was fine. now the hotfix came and impulse told me that sins was not installed - wtf? i just did that 1 day ago. with my fast connection i let
starting sins with a debugger only makes sense if you're a developer, have a debug-version of the sins.exe and of course the source code of the game. for anything else this is just not helping you in any way.
as we are in the beta forum you should not complain about the bad performance of the original sins as this has been vastly improved with entrenchment. still extremely huge battles like 3-4 fleets with 300 ships each will take down any high-end pc but that's just the limit of the 1 thread engine-architecture. since beta 2 i didn't have any game slowing down on me before i finished off the last enemy and depending on map that usually takes 4-6 hours.
multithread support would not be part of an regular update but one for the two upcoming mini-expansions. my guess is on the 3rd and i really wouldn't mind to even pay for a 4th expansion that does nothing else than upgrade the engine for better use of modern hardware e.g. multicore support ;)
It's 100% not a memory issue. and for the record 32 BIT OS's are LIMITED TO 3.5GB of Memory, But during even HUGE RANDOM map my Available memory is 1.3GB.
are you playing entrenchment or not? because it actually is a memory issue and the beta has been vastly improved in terms of memory performance and fixed leaks. on my GHz i can now play medium and large maps and still have
you can disable the autocast on the self-destruct. just make sure you don't hit the wrong mouse-button :D really, i would like to see a timer on the big red button like a 5 or 10 second countdown which can be aborted. the only way i see capital ships and some structures survive that blast is with full shield migration up.
well the game was already running for 3 1/2 hours without any crash and i completely wiped out 1 of the advent AIs. since then the other advent and vasari constantly kept fighting each other and send some small fleets towards me now and then. after ~2 hours i unlocked teams and they startet attacking me. still no dump until now.
i was playing vasari vs. 2 hard advent and on other vasari. the zip file contains the savegame and minidump-file. everything up to this point went smoothly, played on highest settings with fullAA and loaded with teams unlocked. after 1 minute into the game it always crashes no matter what i do. it maybe the other vasari with a marauder and subversion or maybe not, hope you guys find out ;) <a href="http://www.purebytes.de/stuff/sins/sins_
I use small fleets of scouts and flaks.
yeah i thought about that too. now how do we prevent new ships from joining the small "scout-fleet" instead of my big attack-fleet? there really should be a tactical option like "no new ships autojoin in this fleet please".
I use some squads of fighters and/or bombers, put them in the middle of the minefield and set engagement-range to medium. as soon as the scouts start revealing the mines the squads will engage before the scouts can be hurt. but it still needs some micro if the minefield is larger and spread out.
update is out.. for vanilla anyway
not really, my impulse still shows me 1.13 without any updates. i'm really really hoping to see beta 3 out today. yes i know that you guys don't release on fridays - just make an exception already! ;)
lol first you're saying you don't need carriers to counter carriers and now your're fighers rape my bombers? which fighters? i thought you didn't have any? or do you mean the few coming from your cap ships? really... in mid or late-game i usually have 30-50 carriers in my fleet with a ratio of 2/3 fighters and 1/3 bombers that can kill any cap ship within seconds. even if you jam them shortly of push them away it will only delay the inevitable. &n
What would your test have been then? And why don't you do it on 2.5 and post the results then? More to the point why don't you play with Beta 3 some before judging? Here, I made a post about it. However, generally speaking, people think carriers are OP because they only build 1 capital ship. If people knew the proper role of captial ships, they would QUICKLY realize carriers have LITTLE value even in the v1.1
good, damn, yay, damnit, excellent, ahhhhhh! how am i supposed to sleep now? its 2 AM in the morning and i still have tons of coding to do "today"... arghh. decisions decisions...
now that i am back alive after that huge changelog crushed me i was able to read through all the changes and fixes. these impressed me the most: -Added quick start game option that starts you w/ all resource extractors, a cap factory, 2 scouts and full population upgrades on your home planet in addition the frigate factory you'd normally get. -AI attack assembling pathfinding now checks if their is a path that doesn't have a heavily defended planet (in a

attacking a starbase the moment when it's build will crash with beta 2.5 it is a known bug and will be fixed in the next beta.
yes! i knew it! and horray if it works with both sins and entrenchment installed at the same time ;)
