Because if these guys assisted in copyright infringements, then the ISPs also did. This will have huge consequences. Unfortunately, no. It's hugely popular in Canada and some of the northern US states, but overall, it's not even on the radar in the US. If memory serves, it ranks below championship bowling in the US (no, I'm not kidding). Sad for a rabid hockey fan like myself to admit. Anyway, that aside, if no one else jumps in, I'll take Philadelphia as my second pick.
DRM is a funny thing. In the 90's when CD protections were easily cracked and warezed games readily available people were fine with it. But now that protections are harder to crack and pirates getting more headaches from pirated copies, people start whining about DRM. Make of that what you will.
Interesting observation, but you fail to note that the 'DRM' in the 90s didn't give the legitimate users nearly
I'll agree with that. Both first books in the series were decent reads. Jordan just seemed to lose his focus shortly after that, and Goodkind... the less about him, the better. I agree pretty much 100% with everything in Charvel1's post. A
Wow, big update. Thanks for the details on the new stuff, Goo, and all the rest. Looking good.
Check out Glen Cook's Black Company books. Good stuff. Fritz Leiber is a must if you're a fantasy fan at all (the Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser series).
I read the Sword of Shannara when it first came out (many, many years ago now) and liked it well enough, although it was by no means a favorite. His other Shannara books don't do it for me though. Interestingly, I thought the Magic Kingdom books were a fun read. I don't read as much fantasy now as I used to, but I like George R.R. Martin, some of Robin Hobb's stuff, Lois McMaster Bujold, and a few others.

And as digital distribution is involved, somebody has to pay for support (in case of problem to install or start the game) and bandwith for download. When the serial id can't be transfered, you have only one customer that have problems. Or if he reinstalls the game on a new computer, he may

Ahhhh, I remember Pong. A buddy got it when we were kids and we played that a lot. Thought it was the be-all end-all of games. First PC game? Can't recall. I vaguely remember some text-based games way, way back, but the first ones I remember clearly are Tetris, The Bard's Tale, and King's Quest.
An alarming development. Here's hoping it fails miserably, because if it doesn't I'm betting you'll start to see more and more providers jump on the bandwagon.
For me... probably Dragon Age:Origins, Divinity 2:Ego Draconis, and I'm not sure about the third. Maybe D3 or Alan Wake.

This looks good at first glance, Brad. A few questions, if you'd be so kind (feel free to direct me to a link if there's more info elsewhere): - do you have to activate the game on-line? - if yes for question 1, does it mean you have to activate it for each new machine on which it's installed? - it appears by one of your statements that you could install the game and activate it on one of your rigs, then go ahead and install it on any of your other rigs
With your budget you could build a killer rig. I know you said you want to get something off the shelf, but I highly recommend building your own. It's not as tough as it may seem and you will save money over buying the same thing pre-built. You can easily build yourself a great rig and have money left over - and I'm betting your wife would love that.
Yes! That series by Julian May is fantastic.
Not making a judgment call here, but by pirating it in the first place, you've already given them a reason to slap more DRMs on things. From what I've seen, publishers tend to look at the number of DLs on torrent sites to see how bad piracy actually is. By DLing the game, you already added to that number.
