No issues with that so far, Kryo, and I've been using it for 18 months. But thanks for the heads up.

MX518 here as well. I had a cordless mouse before this one and I ended up hating it. I love my MX518 though. Great mouse.
Temple of Elemental Evil is a turn-based game, yes. If you get the Circle of Eight mod for it, the game's very very good. If not... buggy mess is being generous.
Hey, it's not going to appeal to everyone, so fair enough. I thought it was more than worth the 20 bucks.
Tamren, to change drivers, you have to DL the older version, uninstall the one you currently have, and install the old one. I don't know if there's a way to get rid of the Physx stuff only.
Great little game. My kids love it too. I bought it when it was first released and still fire it up when I'm bored and have only a few minutes to kill. It's fun to replay sections and see if you can get OCD on it (if you didn't the first time through). I need to get around to building my tower though...
Tamren, I read a post this morning on the MEPC boards where the guy was having tons of troubles. He had Daemon Tools and Alcohol on his rig, so he removed them. As well, he rolled back to the 175.19 driver and he went into the nVidia control panel and set Anti Aliasing to Application Controlled. He's not sure which of the changes fixed the issue, but he said it cleared things up for him. If there's something there you haven't tried, give it a go and see if it helps. Goo
Have they removed the copy protection yet? If the Steam release has only the Steam DRM then I would consider buying it.
No copy protection or DRM on the Steam version other than Steam itself. Just be warned that they haven't gotten the DLC (Bring Down the Sky) working with Steam yet, but they're working on it. *edit* I'd seriously love to see Mass Effect and the upcoming Dragon Age on Impulse. Brad, make it happ
SecuROM version 7.x (this is the version that has the install limit and phone home switches) behaves very much like StarForce and has many of the same issues. If it's not as bad as StarForce, it's damned close.
The better question is: Do we want crappy EA games on Impulse? Sure it could mean more money, but look at the quality of EA games... Dumbed down for the masses... I would prefer they avoid EA at all costs since I don't want the plague of 'more money but crappier games' to spread...
Impulse isn't some exclusive club for gamers with a specific taste or favorite publisher. I say if they can get some EA games on Impulse it would
Building is cheaper compared to a comparable pre-built. But pre-built is still a cheaper way to get a computer. However, the reason they're cheaper isn't just the OEM OS. It's because you either get on-board graphics or a very low-end graphics card, generally a minimal amount of generic memory, and a very weak PSU. All told, if you're looking at gaming as one of the significant uses for your machine, you should stay away from a cheap pre-built system.
Sweet! I hope the sales rock that way there will be more proof beyond Sins that DRM hurts games. I noticed several people/sites jumped on the WoG being just as pirated as other titles with DRM. I think that had a lot to do with the fact it is a puzzle game and from an unknown studio to boot. So people were "testing things out" so to speak. This situation if it works out well will prove my point. After all Ubi is a major player in the industry and Po
The game wasn't even on my radar until I read about it being DRM-free on another forum. So I'm also going to purchase it on principle (although it looks like a game I may actually like as well). Interestingly, this is exactly the way I ended up buying Sins. Anyway, I'll be spreading the word wherever I can too.
+1 for Pullman. I don't know how I managed to forget him, but damn, those are a good read.
T There seems to by a dichotomy - if you loved Neuromancer, you'll hate Snow Crash and Vice Versa. I've seen so many people whose tastes coincide normally that look at each other like they've lost their minds regarding these two books. Obviously, like the Necronomican, there's something in Snow Crash that causes dementia if you read enough of it - Thank God I quit before it was too late! - {G} Jonnan
Got to admit, I can't stand Goodkind. The first book was okay, but after that... no thanks. Eddings: have to agree with Javaslinger: read one series and you've no need to read anything else. The Belgariad was okay, but don't bother reading his other stuff if you've read it. Terry Brooks: Shannara series. Not so good. I did like his magic kingdom series though, due to the tongue in cheek nature of it. A couple I haven't seen mentioned (apologies if I missed them and fur
Aside from the 'big three' (Azimov, Clarke, and Heinlein), some suggestions: I very much enjoyed the Night's Dawn series (Reality Dysfunction, Neutronium Alchemist, Naked God) by Peter F. Hamilton (although the ending wasn't the greatest, I still enjoyed the series). Others of his are good as well. Iain M. Banks: anything set in his Culture universe is well worth the time. David Webber's Honor Harrington books (think Horatio Hornblower in space). <p
Still not good enough from a legal standpoint, I don't think. The EULA must be available at the point of sale. You cannot expect that someone who is buying a game at a store is going to go home first to check the EULA on the internet. Now, if you're talking for DD only, then you may be onto something.
Updated with no trouble for me. But it's still crashing if I click on any game in the Store tab.

To be fair though, even though Intel is king right now, unless you're overclocking, you won't see that big a difference between AMD and Intel.
Looks solid. The Samsung HHDs seem to be well regarded on some of the computer tech sites I frequent. As noted, case is a personal choice: just make sure you have adequate airflow. I'm not familiar with that brand of PSU either so would personally go for a different brand. Other than that, the only thing I can see is you're opting for a Crossfire board. Are you planning on going that route eventually? If not, I'd look at something else, as there's no sense paying extra for features you
There's nothing you can do unless you're willing to go after the actual pirates from a legal standpoint (and even then I don't know if there's much you can do). Wasn't it Brad that said 'ignore the pirates. Pirates don't count' (or something to that effect)?
Stardock has pointed out a number of times that it was always intended that Impulse would be the vehicle by which Sins (and all their other upcoming games) would be updated. I believe it's even mentioned in the Sins manual. But Impulse wasn't ready in time for the release of Sins, so the patches were provided for DL on the site. However, since Impulse is now up and running, this is the way all their games will be updated from this point forward. That being said: what do you have again
