I was pleasantly surprised to see that the hotfix didn't invalidate saved games. Thanks for that.

It's actually not too hard to assault a pirate base if you've got the right fleet composition. A couple of Dunovs with Shield Restore and a couple of Kols will make short work of them. Even if you're not TEC, the point still stands; Progenitors and Radiances or Skirantras and Kortuls. Hell, a level 6 Kol alone stands a good chance at winning by itself. Those ships are beasts.
However, the AI has every other Cap ship a flagship. Is that a bug or something that will change?
Probably because they're getting their flagship killed every other time. The AI isn't very smart about retreating ships in bad situations, especially when the two sides have an equal number of ships.
Bit of a dumb question, I know, but...damn it! I finally get into a good game with my friends and this happens. AFGAGASFAGFDSDGFASGDFASGFDASGFDGASFDGASFGDFAGSFD
One question I'd like to ask; will the hotfix invalidate saved games like the patch did?
I really don't see why not. It just adds immersion and depth to the game. ...only so long as they work on some of the scripting. I'm looking at you, Vulkoras.
Yeah, but you don't see people running around on the surface of the asteroid, do you? All three of the races have this little station that floats around the asteroid where the population is supposed to be. That, combined with the fact that it effectively downgrades the asteroid to dead status (Especially if it's distant from your capital), raises a question mark in my head. There's also the potential for a planet to have a thin/nonexistent atmosphere, but this is a small, ir
Frequent Meteorites is a very similar planet bonus that gives that -20 population debuff. It has the same +30% extraction rate bonus for both types of minerals. I can see how people can get confused. But one thing that confuses me is that you can only get Frequent Meteorites on asteroids...
The description implied that it removes negative statuses, if I remember correctly.
I'm actually fairly certain it stated that the target's shield mitigation would be boosted for a brief time. Of course, that was wrong and I'm not really sure how that got in there. My guess is that they forgot to take it out after a pre-release test with that effect.
One thing that I'd like to know if you guys can slip in before the update is released: A fix for the Dunov's in-game icon. That thing is still reversed. I won't get my hopes up, though. I know this is pretty close to release, but it just seems like such a simple thing...I mean, Hell, I could photoshop it right now.
Same feelings here. If I ever need ships in a group, I just use Control+# groups.
I'd like to suggest a simple thing that I doubt anyone could really have a reason to disagree with; the expansion of the character limit when renaming planets, starbases, and capital ships. In the game's current state, we're currently restricted to small names. This is especially so for people who prefer to use ship prefixes for their capitals, such as CSS or UMS and so forth. An example that comes to mind is that "USS Gravestone" is over the character limit. That's hardly a long
And, with Mooster's response in mind, the best we can really hope for is that they include that in Diplomacy or a future update. So, if you want it, your best bet would be to show some support for the increase. I know I'm definitely in favor of it.

Assuming you're on XP, as I've no experience with any other operating system, go here: C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name Here\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Save-SinglePlayer The save files should be named the same as you named them in-game. Easy enough to send them to the Recycle Bin and clear them from there. One thing I would like to note for everyone is that, with a lot of save files, you can get some really b
Odds are that you're getting hit by one of the TEC's late-game technologies; Insurgency. When researched, "rebel" ships (Although, they're more along the lines of pirates, considering they'll attack anyone, including the person who researched the tech) will occasionally spawn at enemy planets and attack anything there. You're going to have to build defenses at each planet if you want to be safe from this. For planets that are under little threat of a full engagement, a few hangar
Science-Fiction Games: A bit of a nuisance to me is how often I see psionics. It seems like every other sci-fi-themed game has a psychic somewhere. Granted, when they're implemented well, they can be a good thing, but most of the time...it really just seems to me like an excuse to have magic in a game that would have otherwise had none or very little, which would have made it that much more believable. Civilization (In General): </strong
Indeed, Darvin. There's funny bad and then there's just bad. Myself, I don't mind either of the Cobalt voices, but one thing that's nagged at me is why they changed a few of the autocannon sounds for TEC. The new ones just don't sound very...cannon-ey to me. I usually just replace them with the originals when a patch isn't on the horizon.

Trying before I buy is definitely a good tip, Luckmann. I'll be sure to check it out when my new setup arrives. As for the rest, thanks for the input. Since both friends mentioned before are very close friends of mine whom I know aren't idiots with their computers, I was a bit worried. I do definitely enjoy Fallout 3 to a great extent. I've even gone so far as to put Eden speeches and Enclave Radio music into my user tracks list for San Andreas, not to mention that I modded on
First, a little introduction to the situation... A while pack, I picked up Fallout 3 for my Xbox 360. This decision was based solely on the fact that my current rig wouldn't have been able to run it well, if at all. I've enjoyed the game thoroughly and, at the moment, I'm eyeing up the DLC packs so I can get back into it. However, recent events have opened up an alternative. Garry's Mod. How much pure win would that be with the most realistic physics engine ever?
