Wrong... a game have a lot of "job"... AI, 3D render, sound, human interface ( mouse, joystick, keyboard ), physx, etc.... once you have multitasking, you can make multithread software...
Which are all part of one larger job. Hence splitting them down is much harder then running a second SQL statement on a seperate thread from a different database session... Read the original post I made about how some of the issues may occur in Sins by doing multi-threaded...</
even if you're TEC with Development Mandate I can't see it as being worth your while. you find yourself needing 4 more log slots that bad even after you've researched DM? i just don't see it happening.
Then you obviously do not understand how trade ports work. Being able to put just one trade port on a dead roid can cause a MAJOR increase in income due to lengthening the longest route....

And you can download a version and archive it to a folder on your machine, so you can re-install without having to download it again. Worse case you then have to patch from the archive version to the latest one if you aren't up to date...

Most of the modders for Sins are already allocated I think you will find. It is a labour of love, modding Sins. Hence why I just play it. The ships look good though in the pic at the top...

She's normally in the bedroom yelling at me to come to bed and stop playing games (i.e. Sins)... She has almost got to the stage of being able to work out if I am in game or not.... That must count for something???

You will need to also make sure the appropriate ports are open. Though the fact that you get wrong version suggests that you might not have this issue. If the port was closed, I would expect something like "Disconnected from Ironclad Online" rather then being told you are on the wrong version (this would imply a successful version check has occured.

If you are on Beta 2.5 and are having these issues, send the mini dump files are other info to Ironclad. There are known issues with prior versions - hence why they release new beta versions...
Ah, another one: blocking ships. Is there a way - except setting manual waypoints - to minimize blocking? I lost countless ships because they got blocked by other ships, structures or asteroids (and its strange enough that a race that masters interstellar fight has spaceship captains who are flying around like drunk teenagers who just got their licence, not being to avoid even the biggest obstacles). It really sucks if your precious lvl6 cap gets roasted instead of escaping because it

it means exactly what it says - you are not using the latest version of Sins - which is currently 1.13. As per the manual, all patching is done via Impulse. You download Impulse, register the game and it detects what files need updating to bring you up to the current version (it does a dynamic delta, so the first time you patch it might be huge as there are lots of changes, the second time may be really small as very few files actualyl changed).
database and similar operations are a very different set of problems that don't really apply
To follow up on what Ron said... Databases can be written to run in parallel as multiple users request something at the same time, so it is doing X jobs for Y people. A game is one job for 1 person unless you are talking about the server part (if implemented)
