You've a point there. I think in a Sins or Star Wars like situation, it feels more like a Naval situation, partly because of the top-down view. However, I think in our near(maybe) future situation, it would look more natural with and Air Force title. Here's my reasoning- right now, any fighting in space would probably be with satalites or space stations. I'm imagining unmanned craft trading shots for the advantage of orbital recon, maybe bombardment, although I'm guessing tha

I've always thought it natural that fleets of futuristic space ships were refered to as the Navy. They are ships after all. Bu-bu-bu-bu-but! Wait a minute! NOOOOO! Since I've decided on enlisting in the Air Force, I've been browsing their website and flyers and whatnot, and I noticed something- Technically, in America at least, it's the Air Force's court, not the Navy's! Now, to prove that I am making a well-supported, well-grounded, well-scholarlyish, well-thought out, well-
Huh. News to me! I've only seen ships circle them, and when I hold down alt, it looks a rim around the sun is a no-go zone. I don't know why I had that misconseption. I could have sworn nothing has ever moved threw a planet. Rather embarressing, actually. I've been playing since before Entrenchment. XD
Don't they move around planets and suns, regardless? I'd say they move in 2.5, so to speak. They can stack and there is a difference in elevation, but even so, they all stay on relatively the same level. I think I may have taken a shot that doesn't really portray what's happening- those frigates aren't just that high- they're in the middle of the sun, as you'd see if you were to look dirrectly from above. I see I left that out. My mistake.
Look at the image below- for some reason, a couple of light frigates are above the sun in this picture. I never saw this happen before. I guess the Vasari ran out of time, because Chuck Norris caught up and is apparently screwing with my game....
They certainly should react to me helping them out, if they don't already. I think your right, burnedbacon. Diplomacy in your case seems to be more about milking the most of a player in a subordinate situation, which should certainly be an option. Personally, I think the shared buffs are nothing to be scoffed at. It gives a purpose to allying with someone, but the title "Diplomacy" is a bit missleading as it is. In effect, it's really just the addition of those said buffs and a remaki
I see what you mean. It's how you mentioned in Warcraft 3. I suppose you could just select random for the race and not look at the Diplomacy page, if you want.
I'm not sure which of you is right. I think it is possible to have good relations with two people, even if they hate each other. I wouldn't say this should be possible in every situation (mine for instance), but having a cease fire treaty I can see as possible. I do think secretly giving missions to an enemy to attack an ally is an interesting idea. I like it personally. It's a nice way to get at someone who's in my way or threatening me without breaking a cease fire pact prematurely.
You have a point there, but I disgree on that being the best tactical move. I think this is mostly because I haven't explained the entire situation. There were three galaxies, one with four CPUs, in two teams, and my galaxy, which had my one ally, and two others, who were each allied to different factions in the other galaxy. The other was entirely unclaimed. I disagree on taking one on at a time- remember that this is 2vs.1vs.1. This means that we both left our borders unprotected to each ot
One of the stars on the map I was playing with CPUs on was contested by me, one ally, and two enemies, both of which were allied only with people on another star. I notice that somehow my Diplomacy level is rising with one of these enemies, even though I've been fighting both of them actively the entire game, and we even made a trade pact. Funny that it should happen, my ally makes a peace treaty with that same enemy. Now even though these two especially were hard at each others necks this en

However, if we throw in either the planetary bonus "High Security Protocol" (-20% trade income, +5 tactical slots) or "Weapons Test Facility" (-20 population, +8 tactical slots), we could hypothetically get 54 or 58 tactical slots on a planet, enough room for three superwea
I'm right with you there, Apheirox! My mom has insisted, ever since the vanilla days, that one of the Vasari is saying "Give me the cookies", which I never understood. That aside, I think it doesn't seem right that both me and someone else need to have something researched. Suppose they or I never get around to it? I could understand if I need to have it researched to issue it to someone else, but I don't agree with that either. I for one think once I research the item that a

I don't mean to make them
I remember in Entrenchment wondering if I could build two Kostera Cannons on the same planet, and finding it odd that I can have up to 35 tactical slots- but the cannon uses 18. Diplomacy changed that with the shared buffs between civilizations. One of them allows both me and an ally player to have 4 free extra tactical slots, effectively defeating the number chosen for previous versions. I'm afraid the developers meant for it to be impossible to have two cannons on the same planet, b
I'm all for another type of ship, bigger and better then before or no. I don't think we really need a new stronger class- I find that stronger/more expensive variations of similar things grow stale after the 3rd or 4th installment, as a general rule. (I'm looking at you, Advance Wars, Duel Strike) Having a bigger capital ship I have to say I like the sound of as long as it's not just a capital ship with more stats. Maybe something more along the lines of a mobile Starbase(as an off to
I think your right, Norse. I got the impression before I played Diplomacy that this was in fact the very POINT of it. I was disappointed that it only seems to be about one half of Diplomacy. Negative Diplomacy sounds to me like it would best be served with a Negative percentage as well, or something to that effect. While trading, offering missions, and sharing will increase the 'friendly' tree making them more likely to help me out, while them knowing I have a strong military, and thr
Here's something I think might be worth considering for adding to that FAQ list. It's not just regarding Sins, but I would have appreciated it if I had found it here before someone pointed it out to me. Credit card numbers need to be entered without spaces. I tried pre-ordering Diplomacy, and it wouldn't go through until I entered it that way for some reason. Thanks to Athlan for helping me out with this.
I used my credit card. Athlan gave me a useful bit of information- I needed to enter my credit card number without spaces, which I've never had to do before. That appears to be all the problem was. I wonder if I missed a blaring notice about that somehow?
I don't know what went wrong, Rezonator. I tried to quote 18, I think. I just assumed pressing the quote button at the bottom of that message would quote the message itself, not whatever that is. Now that's an original idea, Volt, but I doubt it, because if it isn't finished yet, it would make sence to just leave a spot to access the ship unfinished. I suppose there could be reasons, though, such as them wanting to seal the air in so building the insides will be easier.

You work for Stardock? Hmmm, I thought I saw somewhere, maybe on the website, that you would be on vacation until then. I was thinking that was a nice long vacation. I tried it again, and got the same thing. They still haven't wrote me back regarding it, so I guess I'll just sit tight and try again in a few days.
I'd say science has died off, in that it's been replaced with marketing. I keep feeling like people are more concerned with data that will either cause a stir, can be painfully shoved in the face others, or is incriminating or otherwise deragatory, and not with the heart of the issue. I remember one instance of hearing a "scientist" on the radio supporting his theory because the way of thinking that originaly produced it can be useful in solving other problems, and made a few insults
Yes, try to post a picture if you can. Just in case you or anyone reading this doesn't know how, I'll save a google search- Press the PrtScrn/SysRq button (dirrectly above the arrow keys), open paint, and paste it in by right clicking. Save it and open it with photobucket or any image sharing site. We really have no idea what the problem is from the information you give. I can only say a few things that are common problems. Did you update your drivers? Updating the game itself won't c
There HAS to be an access point somewhere, for Generals or whomever to move between planets or capitol ships, as this would make much more sence then landing the entire ship. It could also be for resuppling, as sending the entire ship for supplies makes as much sence as landing on a planet.
Thanks man. I went ahead and pre-ordered it, but got an error message after confirming it. D I'm waiting to hear back from them as to if I should order it again, or if they have'nt sent me the E-mail or charged me because they're on vacation until the 4th. ...oh wait. >_>
