Theres always the show allied ships in the UI options. I'd guess you could bind it to a key to turn it on/off. Play around with some of the other settings there, as I'm sure you can get what you're looking for. I would suggest queing up kill orders if you want that much focus fire. Personally, I generally only focus fire when a ship is nearly dead anyhow (to finish it off and reduce chance it will be healed and reduce the damage output of the opposing fleet). Consider using t

http://www.tomsguide.com/us/starcraft-sc2-wings-of-liberty,news-7388.html Theres a video at the bottom. I guess I should give up thinking I will ever be good at RTS games. I'm way to slow. I'm more of a deep thinker, which takes time. I do enjoy RTSs, and will continue to play them, but to think I could ever play through any RTS at 25% of the speed of that guy.... I cant do it. Its impossible for m
theres a link in that thread... its the third post down. click that, then go to the bottom of the top post and look for the zip file. thats what i used. and i just finished a game on 1920x1200, max effects, no issues. I'm declaring my problem fixed. The idea i was saying about playing on small maps was for testing purposes.... to narrow down that the 2gb limit was the issue. smaller maps use less ram because theres less stuff on the board. The games are also quicker, which is ide

yeah that 2gb limit is what it was for me. i turned down the resolution (1600x1050) and kept all the effects maxed, made it through a whole game, but had an issue /w a starbase i made: it had no textures. it just glowed blue. which was kind of cool for a min or so. You should be doing your testing on small maps to reduce the memory footprint. now, i have had it do that thing where you cant set the resolution. basically, sins can't figure out any info about your monitor, so it wont let
would I be able to tell if thats the case /w task manager or something? I am maxing out effects and running at 1920x1200....
So I have Win 7 x64, and after a long match (usually just minutes away from my victory), I get a Sins of a Solar empire has stopped working window that knocks me out. Every time it occured, I was very close to victory. I always suspected the computer of cheating, but this has gone too far. match lengths have varied, but I've been in for awhile... hours. Also running on a geforce gtx470 /w the 257.21 drivers.
Armor should be accounted for correctly unless theres some crazy mechanic i dont know about. formula is: (Ships' HP)/((Enemy Ships' Atk Bonus * Enemy Ships' DPS)/(1+(Ships' Armor points * 0.05)) Maybe I could account for mitigation by assuming its maxed out all the time? or look at the opposing dps to see if it maxes it out and then do it. problem is what to do when it's not maxed out and exactly how to fit it in the formula. I'm pretty sure I read that shield mitigation
okay, the capital ships now have a column that indicates planet health damage and population damage per second. I'm not sure if the formula is right. what I do is take the baseDamage/basePopulationKilled and divide by the bombingFreqTime, This makes my numbers unlike what you have in the post above.
That seemed to do it. And for some reason, all resolutions show up now. I think there might even be some my monitor isn't capable of. Thanks, Ill let you know if I have any more issues
I have not, however, if that was the problem, I dont think my problem would be limited to sins. Windows is running at 1600x1200, and any other game I try I can run at 1600x1200. I've looked around and havent been able to find a driver for my monitor as it is really old. I do plan on getting a new monitor soon, but for right now I want to get this working. By the way, I tried all 3 versions/expansions of sins with the same result
My PC: Intel Core 2 duo E8400 on a Gigabyte EP45-UD3R mobo 4 GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 PC6400 New Asus Geforce GTX 470 Windows 7 64-bit I have run sins before on my system, but not with the new g-card and not in windows 7 (i upgraded both at the same time). Now I install everything and I am forced to run at 1024x768 resolution. No other resolutions appear in the options menu. I was running at my monitor's max resolution <span style="
Is it possible for your Macro to also pull the Siege figures for the various Cap ships?
Ill work on that soon. anyone got any feedback on the sandbox? or does no one get how that works? btw, sorry I didnt answer right away. just got a new g-card and have been 'making sure it works'.
thanks SuperZEROo, I actually dont think that I'll need the forge tools as I'm not making a map or doing any special FX. furzball, The catch is that is only half of what you need to capture a planet and only neutral planets can be captured this way. The other half is diplomacy. To be honest, it seems like it should have been a feature in diplomacy.
Hi, Im starting a mod that adds a new mechanic to diplomacy: The ability to ally and eventually acquire planets peacefully. I have a thread going where I was suggesting it. My intial goal is changing 2 things: Culture gives diplomatic influence Being able to engage diplomatically with neutral worlds I might have to make some kind of UI for #2... im not sure. On
you could give the pirate base one of those vasari phase tunnelers with the other one being at the star.
alright, now im thinking about making this idea into a mod (only the 40 zillionth project im working on. sleep being the 40 zillionth-and-one).
So we would be able to eventually get colonization of the worlds peacefully tho, right?(Ownership after enough culture time?)

with enough diplomatic relations under cultural influence over a prolonged period of time, you can acquire a
I mis-stated that. I said right-click the capital ship, I meant the fleet's symbol (either the empire tree or above the flagship). Right-clicking the capital ship will only cause it to follow as you guys have both said. And I wasnt advocating using pause alot, I was just considering it as a possibility. what about the ships? are they the ships I mentioned that dont auto-join?
It sounds like you're experiencing one of these things: you're somehow not selecting what you think you're selecting. I sometimes notice issues when trying to do some complicated fleet re-assignments and paused . Simply save and try the same thing unpaused to see if it does the same thing. of course, you might not be paused, so... you dont have the capital set as the focus of your selection. be
Yeah I know that happened. I updated stuff last night and for whatever reason had issues /w editing my post. tried like 50 times and had to just leave it. should be fine now though
Managed to do some clever things to make it look more interesting and added more details. I want to do some stuff to the capital ships chart then ill upload it
well, i was kinda thinking that if you ally with a neutral world, well its not yours. so you dont get the ships. but you could trade with them and other things. I was also thinking that if you give money to the planet, they would produce more ships, making it harder to take and making the planet act like static defense. and seeing as it is neutral, you have to weigh the risk of a hostile take over (possibly breaking your empire in two) with the cost of your own invasion and subsequent planet
Would be awesome if you could package it as an executable with it's own window and style.
I've thought about this for a number of my excel charts I've made (I use it at work), the thing is there is alot to do to even get 'cells'... to the point that I'd basically be re-writing excel under another name. There might be some ways around the issue... Im not sure. As far as compatibility, thats why I used excel 2000... its older
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before or if it was tried in diplomacy beta, but how about a way to become 'allies' with neutral planets? It feels kinda wrong to go to these planets, wipe out the militia, and take the planet. This could be a way get more use out of the diplomacy mechanics. obviously, there are some balance issues to work out, but at the very least being able to bypass a planet's militia or beef it up early could add some new strategies to the game.
