That's the problem with making a chart like this, it's never done
Well, thats the thing with charts... theres always another way to look at it and/or more details to add (of course you can also add too much detail). But I do have to say the graphics on both these charts are slick. My refrence chart I just posted is nowhere near

apparently it wasnt friday enough yet. I think I got it hosted. I was worried about having to make up some account im never going to use again just to do it. found out mediafire doesnt require a sign up, so lets see if this works
.... I'm suprised only one person seems to be interested in this after all the requests.... and a bit curious. Are people not interested because it's an excel file? is it that I dont currently have it hosted somewhere? Is it coz of my unknown name? Does this message have an odor im not aware of?
I started this a couple weeks ago, got really far in like a day, then have been at work non-stop ever since. But I was off yesterday and so I finished it. Couple things I want to say about it though: There is more I wanted to do with it, but I figured it works like this, so I should let it out now before I get side-tracked on something else It is an Excel file. I know thats not what everyone is used to, but the purpose of doing it this way is that I set it up in a way that wil
Thank you. I see another thread on this forum has popped up with talk of chart-like qualities. So I might integrate some of the things they are looking at there into this chart. But the best thing about my chart-it is extremely easy to update. The chart itself is a tabulator. So, you import the txt files and its done. Im planning a macro to do that even. so you might push a button and your chart gets updated.
I had problems with that bin to txt converter, so it's a good thing you linked the direct downloads. I am pretty much done (really only doing the ships, other stuff should be the same). just have capitals left, but i wanted to ask a question about convention. In the old chart, it lists a number for DPS. When I look in the file, there are numbers for multiple banks. In the capitals, im sure I'll run into multiple weapon types. I noticed that if I took the sum of the banks damage and di

I'm trying to setup an excel spreadsheet that wont take alot of effort to update (hopefully just copy-paste the files), that way we dont have to wait for these compilations.
I appologize for half my post there being unreadable. I tried to correct it, but something went screwy everytime i tried to edit. just select the unreadable portions and it should be good
what if they made exploration empire-wide? so instead of choosing each planet and one-by-one going through 2 levels of exploration, you could just spend some money and every planet in your empire goes through a level of exploration? theres alot less time that you waste this way, and the cost is much more straightforward. or maybe have a <span style="font-family: Verdana; color: #000000; font-size: 7.5pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-font-family: "

And all the AI does this all game. And instead of them breaking the pact and being done with
So, really all SP does is reduce the damage taken by the primary target by 33%? I could see how that could help SR work better, but it still doesn't seem like much.
If they are focusing on 1 target, the battleball tactic doesnt do much (and shouldnt against a whole fleet focused on 1 ship), but you can still see how a single ship (which happens to be the target) takes 33% less damage+has its shields regenerated via
I thought at first you might be saying something about an exploit involving the leftover cannons and synergy. I wonder if there is an affect. That is interesting that you gain resources that didnt belong to you. I would assume the cannons count toward your tactical slots? Too bad everyone stays away from a pirate base otherwise those leftover cannons + a starbase+ mine layers could be one heck of a trap to walk into.
So I'm playing a game (after recent patch) and got some diplomacy going. And I was suprised and delighted to finally be offered a pact by the AI. I was like, wow! I accept! The AI refused... I didnt think they could do that. I mean, they offered me a pact, why would they not want the pact on the grounds that I was willing to make it with them?! What was weirder was I repeatedly recieved a whisper and voice track saying they wanted to quit the pact when they already had. So, eventual
I had an AI that i befriended in a game. i loaded up on the envoys, did lots of diplomatic research. formed several pacts with him.... dumb AI didnt acquire more than 4 planets. my intention was to see what effect my "ultimate pact" had on my combat abilities as advent. now as i understand it, there is a cap of +1.5 to relations per planet. so him having 4 planets, if i understand this correctly, the maximum relations would be 16? (which i dont think is enough). is there anything
I see your point. But the intention of such a UI element is to at a glance let you know how close the game is to ending. Whether or not the exact number of points is displayed is irrelevent. could be a progress bar like the pirate raid bar. i asked for that because i had this one match where i lost and was quite shocked because i had just triumphed from a long intense battle against another player. I thought i had plenty of time and was in prime position to win. If i had known he was
I've played a few games of diplomacy now and I really like the changes. The whole game seems to move alot faster with the new speed settings and the diplomatic victory is like a time limit of sorts. There were a few things that bothered me though, so I have some ideas: 1) instead of/in addition to the diplomatic point speed setting, why not let people decide the max diplomacy points needed for victory? I say this because I have had some matches where I push to get my ultimate pact use
if they tried it, maybe they could tell us how so someone can make a mod implementing it. my vision for it would mean every planet would have a phase lane to nearly every other planet in the system (some wouldnt need a lane coz it would never be close enough like neputune to mercury). as the planets orbit, the phase lanes change length; if they get past a certain length, the phase lane is temporarily disabled until it comes within range again (maybe some code to make sure there is alw
It's not the look the bothers me, it's the size, what the hell does it need to be as big as a continent for?
seriously? your just noticing the scale is a 'tad' off? look up 'sun', 'jupiter', and 'red giant' on wiki. if the game were to scale, yellow stars would be 109 times the diameter of the terran planets, gas giants would be up to 12 times the diameter of the terran planets, and a red giant star would dominate at 21800 time
Okay, so I went through a few games trying to see if this problem was fixed as you seem to claim, but its not. Yes, there is a 'Flagship' in the game. When i read my post now, I guess I didnt state the real problem clearly. My suggestion was a way to fix what I see as a problem, but also took the opportunity to add game mechanics. I direct your attention to this thread: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/343452 . Top half. thread ki
I actually find it a good delaying tactic by the AI. If you do your best to expand as fast as you can, the siege craft tactic will take out your planets, cripple your economy, and ultimately limit what you can do for a long time. If you do your best to protect the planets you acquire, you limit your expansion rate which gives the AI more time to expand itself. I've actually been kind of thinking how I might mimic the AI in that respect in order to limit the AI's expansion. Anyhow, the
I think the mining squadrons should have a second ability: Replace Mine Its very time consuming to lay mines exactly how you want them. auto cast saves you the time, but is often wasteful. with this ability and the original, an acceptable amount of time can be spent micro-managing the mine fields. Also, the current autocast seems to be counter-productive; everytime a mine explodes, it places a new one somewhere else (usually). if it exploded there, it was a good spot. after awhile, th
You designate a flagship for your fleet. The flagship is then always the default at the top of the stack when select your fleet. you dont have to hit tab several times to get the ship you want to activate it's power you've built your fleet around (I... play... advent... :p). I would use it for capitals, but I suspect some might want to have a non-capital as the flagship. Theres potential in there for some bonuses (either to the flagship or for taking it out), but I just want to be abl
buy seige frigate fleets and send them to their deaths. repeatedly. maybe throw in some structure killers. terror warfare it is.
interesting thread. Im wondering what upgrades you all buy most often for your advent SB? and how many SBs you buy I tend to go with 3 pts in shield, 2 in lasers, 1 in hangers, 1 in meteor, 1 in disorient. I drop this on a wormhole and nothing gets by it.
