definately do not be affraid of the amount of info the game can have. i was winning since my first game so saying "steep learning curve" in a review is a bit dramatic. this game is playable on many levels and can be enjoyed in many ways.

woot i was right. +1 for noobies
hyperiums.com its this without the graphics in a mmo.
either a campaign or a well established canon that would need to be followed. the current back story is fun but it lacks a certain amount of depth. im sure it was intentional, but there really isnt enough there to build a complete story framework without inventing a lot of content. trek and starwars books are a dime a dozen because there is so much to pull from. i cant image how difficult it would be to form a complete novel length story from the original material.
probably just because the tutorials are forced fed from the game. the game itself runs great on many system even older ones.
could be that the path to the star and\or path through the worm holes havent been charted yet. without the phase lanes being charted by scouts or w/e then the ai couldnt auto nav.
i believe the "choice" the dev was describing was more of what to do and when. a new empire cannot be built solely on planets with lots of factories. and fleets cant be built on planets that solely have research stations. but you need to have both and know how to manage them to be most effective with not only your resources but also with time. the game gives us the choice to us a planet in many different ways. changing how slots work would limit the flexibilty of planets especially
game! is just an attempt by amd to retain their dwindling gamer population. too little too late. 3 years ago that marketing ploy would have been a hit. now, most of us have moved to core2 processors. and ati...what can i say. i loved my 32mb rage 2 card. it had lastest for nearly 10 years of solid hard use. but the drivers were never quite right and ati ended life on the line before it could be properly fixed. so now i run on the solid nvidia\intel combo.
many of the original games had no protection and were insainly popular. the largest game publishers are quickly becoming their own worst enemies. if they continue to push the restrictions on games then eventually it drives away the players.
i simply continue to enjoy the fact that the people that called me the gauntlet of nerd/geek/dork etc. are still working in fast food or warehousing and i am at a major financial institution developing software. and i am happily married with a kid while they haven't be able to hold a relationship for more than a weekend.
recently as TEC against the AI on a medium random map, I used culture stations on planet near the front. i was forced into a defensive posture by having two computers directly attaching my empire. i held my planets and by the time i rallied my fleets and went on the offensive again i walked into 5 or 6 planets that had rebelled due to my culture influence. so the rest of the game was a cake walk. definately use culture. if for no other reason but to give the game something special.
yeah the rally feature is pretty good. you can set RP's as points in space, planets or fleets. maybe even more than that, but these three are all I use. if you need ships faster than what a single factory can chunk out, try two factos at the same planet. this is useful especially when setup behind a line so you can quickly deliver reinforcements to your fronts (against AI this works. i would guess a human player would find the ship yard planets and wipe them out easily.) fo
make full auto weaps a special ability that drains antimatter. otherwise i would never play tec again for the annoying gun sounds that are constantly firing.
im a little new as well, but here is what i know within the game capabilities... 1. Guarding ships/structures & 2. Patrolling within designated way points you can select ships\strike craft to hold a position. the ai will move them to engage unless you specify hold position. against the computer i will often set planet based strike craft near the arrival points outside the grav well. this helps them to engage more quickly. its not a "guard" or "patrol" order but it e
any mods installed? enabled or not? graphic settings all ok. maybe try resetting to default. May be easiest to uninstall and reinstall at this point.
They will probably have 50 years of syndicated life after they are cancelled. Look at the greatness of the Flintstones. I got home a couple weeks ago and there's my kiddo watching Fred and Barney.
The game is great, but this one bug, is really putting me off it.
sounds like its something on your computer not the game. my specs are much lower than yours except i have vista ultimate. i can run fine on the highest setting for maps upto 50-60 planets. then i have to start backing it off. my lag issue was fixed with lastest nvidia driver released last week.
(yawn) the second you change anything on the Sova it unbalances the other races. Keep it the way it is and level up the carrier enough to see the difference. its a nice cap as is. :)
just say NO to SP campaigns. an alternative might be victory condition option. obtain N planets or build X station types. campaigns are fun once...maybe. use your imagination and play a series of maps. give youself goals to obtain etc. thats why they added the achievement stuff. moons sound like a nice idea. maybe each home world has a moon. moons would simply be like weak asteriods adding a few more tac and log slots and a little more income. space stations would be a
why in world are screenies burried stardock? seems like another 5min min of coding and 5min of testing could have put the pics in the users My Pictures dir. :(
The NVIDIA driver resolved the game hangs and delays. So far... Vista Ultimate Updated to SP1 NVIDIA 7300LE Updated to latest driver described above SoaSE Updated to 1.05 Everything is happy now.
wow nice work. i can see a lot of time has been put into your site.
