"(I believe those media things on have a 1 phase line effect, right?)." Sorry, m8. Culture grows over time way beyond a single lane. The techs in your tech tree help the culture expand faster or decrease slower. Culture can be a huge asset to you. I will typically build several broadcast stations away from my home world. After a couple of hours of play, I can basically just kick back and let the culture win for me.

what is your OS? what is your nVidia driver verion? what is your Sins version? are you playing in multi-player or single? does the game lag and crash, or is it normal and then crashes? how is the game setup? map size, graphics level, etc. have you tried shutting down other apps as well. ie antivirus, spyware blockers, etc.

from other posts, i can tell you the actual game processing is not multi-core optimized. sins will pre load many images and textures but actual game processing occurs on a single core. plus, you are running 64bit windows. im pretty sure that the os is scaling down to run the 32 bit app. this means all 4gb of ram is not being addressed by the game, and the processor is working to emulate the 32bit enviroment. my guess is between the proc bottleneck and the 32 addressing, that

true, but the power of the missiles increases at the tech tree is built out. there are what...7 to 10 missile upgrades in the TEC tech tree?

this one is new to me. i bought the game the old fashion way. generally settings like that will be saved by users in windows. are you logged in as the same user as before? did you have any windows trouble that may have caused the profile to corrupt? Not sure which other way to go with it. Did the game keep the settings after you exited and went back in?

another note on tactical structures against computers. last night as i was playing TEC i witnessed the computer actually do something well. they waiting until my force was attacking a well defended ai with a decent fleet. then two other ai's attacked my planet with a fleet that had maybe 4 or 5 caps and 50 other ship types. my planet had 6 hangers, a repair bay and the rest of the slots were guns. i had been building that planet as a forward ship yard as well. so it had 4 f

the missile barrage gains power with the upgrades. like most tec ships the initial upgrades arent especially major. once you get to lvl 3 on an ability then it becomes highly effective.

it was aparently the fact that my head was still in sleep mode. kinda scarey considering it made it to work and somehow managed to post this thread. now tomorrow morning i will be tired because i played sins all night :D

i do remember the game. i think i played the shareware version. fps with a map and some other cool features. @instant, in those days i was already farting around with Macs so the GUI wasnt a stranger to me. I had started using SuperPaint and Pagemaker at a friends house. The games where there but just not many. dos was still my main gaming OS though. :)

you raise an interesting concept. a sim level experience in the sins world. maybe youre a fighter pilot or frigate captin. however, i wouldnt put it in sins. i would create a spin off game. maybe bundle the two together for a special edition.

seems that i am here at work. the day is 1/10th over. and i am falling asleep. why? i dont get it. im drinking a nasty coke product, considering coffee and even a walk through the mall 7 stories below me. anyone else sleepy? maybe I need SoaSE on my work desktop.

great now im feeling left out since i never used an amiga. :( i do remember playing the heck out of an apple IIe though. i ran through a half dozen games or so and eventually found Print Shop. that was probably my first experience with a desktop publishing program.

at most they should only improve upon what is published. as stated above i also expect fixes for long standing v1 issues. why give away expansion pack material when we are willing to buy it...just dont gouge us stardockers ;)

i do not, but it sounds kinda like a driver problem. there are some other threads where people (including me) have had trouble 7 series nvidia cards. you may want to check your driver version and read through some of the other posts like this one... https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/312610 and https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/176162

this may be in the wrong area, but i will see if i can help. did you download the game or purchase it in a store? a downloaded copy may have been corrupted during the download. redownload and try again. do other applications install? ie the SoaSE demo. if you purchased in a store, i would take it back to the store and say it is defective and get another copy. if it continues to fail, then there is an incompatibility somewhere. i would need to know more about your sy

my wife would probably like me to go computer free for 18 years :D one of my first turn based strategy games was on the C64. Defender of the Crown. There was a problem with the game that caused it to crash just before i would win. Eventually i would play it so my enemy would have 1 or 2 territories left and i would just build up everything. hours if not days were poured into that game. it would also crash on me if i saved the priceness. fun times.

i said this before in another thread or another site. in the 80's when computer gaming took off and companies like EA started earning profits, even the best copy protection was crackable. i even remember having programs that were specifically designed to crack copy protection. today the companies are trying to restrict this more and more and their revenues are decreasing. yet still the crackers are out there. plus there is so much resentment now coming from those that buy the progra
