http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2009/06/cheap-food/bourne-text That is a link to the article. The short answer is stockpiles. "Human population, he observed, increases at a geometric rate, doubling about every 25 years if unchecked, while agricultural production increases arithmetically—much more slowly. Therein lay a biological trap that humanity could never escape." Thomas Malthus realized

Procrastination is the art of wasting time, the only thing that really matters in the end. Wasting time is wasting life... it is wasting breath. WE as you refer to are not the same as WE were a THe Beginning, because WE were unaware.... and now WE are unaware and older... as far as time can be used to judge the length of existence.

To clarify my statement on psychology, there is no "psychology of the masses". In psychology, there are 3 generally accepted levels: the brain, the person, and the group. How big to make "the group" is determined by the person performing the study. Psychology literally means "The study of the psyke". So the "psychology" of the masses would simply mean to study EVERYBODY'S mind, not what those people believe. What they believe would be their mindset, hence "the mindset of the people"</

You could go to cyberpowerpc.com or ibuypower.com Those sites (and many others) will let you pick which pieces to put in your rig, and it will come pre-assembled. I would recommend a core i7 920 CPU, an Asus p6t motherboard, at least 3gb of RAM (ddr3), A 1tb hard drive, and a power supply with 700 watts or more (antec, corsair, or bfg prefferably) For graphics cards, it really depends on what resolution you are going to be playing at. If it is 1440 x 900 or l

Notorious, the "psychology of the masses" you reference has almost nothing to do with politics. And psychology is a science, it is the study of the mind. If you mean the mindset of the people, then you have a limited point. You mentioned that if one hears many people say the same thing they will accept it to be true. This was confirmed in a experiment on group compliance, in which, people were asked to judge which line of several was the longest. The first answers were given (inc

It's not that the 2 infra upgrades are too expensive or anything, but with nothing other than those upgrades, the planet is producing less than 1 cred/sec because of its low allegiance. So culture is necessary, and why not trade ports? And now the planet is a culture producing trade-route planet, so it needs repair bays and some hangars. This is why it seems better to just not colonize them. If you are winning, it's not worth it. If you are losing, a planet very far from your

Everyone gets screwed by the map now and then, it happens. But in large MP games, you have teamates to help you with this. Eaqualization would be nice, it's just that random maps are supposed to be random. It's not so much the idea that is bad, it really is a good concept, but it might be over-generalized. If everyone starts with the same few planets round them, ok, but how long until people start complaining that the planets past that inital ring are unfairly distributed? Or

The problem with this is that if it is hard coded that certain things will always happen, then the game (at least the beginning) will become almost formulaic: Do this, then this, then this... If anybody plays supreme commander, then you know that symetrical maps get reeeealllly boring after awhile since the same things happen in every game. I know that symetry is not what is being promoted here, but on small random maps, if these things are implemented then a large portion of the map

The problem is that colonizing planets that add very little to your economy seems superfluos, like an extra step. If i am playing as TEC i just nova-nuke them so that the enemy can't re-colonize them. And cykur, you have a point that your fleet should continue to attack the enemy as the planet is being colonized, but if you have pushed them back that far then you are sure to win very soon and the planet doesn't matter. This is the problem, it either doesn't matter or is an ann

Sins (if i'm not mistaken) is not multithreaded, so it does not take advantage of multiple cores very well. If sins is running on one core and maxing it out then the game will crawl. You can set the core affinity of processes with the task manager and move sins to a core with less activity on it and see if that helps things. What you can also try is defragmenting your hard drive, the sins menu always stutters for me if i get lazy with my defrags. Lastly, you can lower all the

Now yng, may i call you yng?, you speak volumes of truth, but you do not yet understand what that means. To be true is to exist in fact, but fact is subjective so existence is subjective If existence is subjective then one who is on a path must realize that the path may or may not exist, that the path may in fact be the main road and not a path at all. Most ships have a damage bonus against certain other ships, for example: Long range frigates/lrfs (TEC Javelis, Vasari Assailant, Advent Illuminator) are VERY good against light frigates/lfs Bomber strikecraft are very good against planetary structures, capital ships, and heavy cruisers/Hcs Fighter strikecraft are good against siege frigates, bombers, and they do alright against lrfs and lfs</li
