I have done that before, but i thought i was going crazy when i saw the frig factories and Cap ships floating around, nice to know im not insane [e digicons][/e]

Thanks everyone, I was looking at the Antec cases because they seem to have both space and airflow. Nearly every review i've read says they are also quiet. I have nearly everything in my rig overclocked so strong airflow is important, but i am also concerned about the HUGE graphics cards that i have, and the fact that the 10.5" size seems to be the standard now, so space between the ends of the cards and the hard drive bay is necessary. @Lantec: the Coolermaster HAF&
I am looking for a new case as the one i have now has terrible airflow. A sinlge 120mm fan and one 80mm fan in odd locations. Also, one of my graphics cards (9800gtx+) just about touches the hard drive. So i looked aroung and found that the Antec 900 case has some very good reviews, and the Antec 1200 has some even better reviews, but i wanted to get opinions from actual, helpful people rather than reading customer reviews that boil down to "I LOVED IT!!!" or "THIS CASE IS EVIL!!!"</p

I was just wondering; I ususally play Advent and occasionally TEC. It just doesnt seem like the vasari have any abilities that could change the tide of a losing battle, while the advent have the holy trinity, strikecraft dominance, and a whole lot of damage. 35 dps form a fully upgraded destra with the amplify energy aura ability at level 3; 38 if you have the kinetic intensifier artifact, and 41 if you have them fighting in a planet that was hit by a culture cannon shot. I usually ha
Alas, i spend more time on macro level strategy than on micro. What abilities do the vasari have that can really be microed? Obviosly Jam weapons, reactive nanite armor, nano disassembler, disintegration, and the subverter disabling ability are easy to use, but what else is there?
force them into a prolonged two-front war or three-front war and that advantage isn't nearly as decisive.
This is the strategy the vasari have perfected, phase gates allow the entire fleet to attack one side of an empire ann then the other in a very short amount of time, a huge tactical advantage. The problem is if the enemy slows you with defences thenan advent fleet can steamroll your planets until you are forced
Phase stabilizers add mobility and fluidity, good for choosing where to attack, but invade a planet they cannot afford to lose and (most of the time) the weaker and more costly vasari fleet will not be able to make a substantial dent in an advent fleet. And any TEC ships lost will simply be replaced. The easiest way i have found to use vasari is hit and run, above all DO NOT allow your enemy the chance to choose where to attack, You must make them fight where they do not want to
@Aanderson: Late game, the Vas are a force to be reckoned with. Its just mid-game they are weak.
I find that out of the three races, the vasari have to weakest late-game fleet. The advent are obviously the strongest and the TEC fall in the middle. The Vasari weak HC and less effective strikecraft doom them in a prolonged battle. Whenever i play vasari; hit and run becomes the main tactic. The only way to
My ideas about the abilities was how i see the races, the vasari need some way to take out enemy fleets late game, (let's face it they suck after an hour) so it would give them extra time while the enemy is defenseless. The advent ability would fit into several synergies, animosity, malice, and vengence, and then use the disciples on enemy hoshikos and overseers and they wouldn't be able to heal the damaged ships, but the discples are so squishy that once animosity is over they can be
Oh, and btw, make sure that if playing with pirates that you get karmatic retribution. A single downed trade ship yields a bounty of 200 on their head. Makes them expend extra credits to keep up with you.
As advent, it might be more beneficial to let the pirates attack you early to mid game to get experience for your caps. A high level mothership, battleship, or battlecruiser breaks 100 dps for a single
also i know u can shift click to attack diff ships in a row only problem there is im not excalty great with what ships are good/weak against others ships so i like the fact that they auto attack -i might try not forming fleets tonight
This will come with more experience, even if you don't look at the damage multiplier charts you will eventually get a sense of what ships to use against what ships; lrfs against lfs, f
I think siege frigates are actually the "unused frigate" LFs are good for assisting the earl colonization of neutral planets, but lose relevance fairly early, especially agaisnt a vasari player with assailants being so eay to get. They have a limited use in the later game because of the anti-matter distruption abilites, but i think with one additional ability they could take on the support-ship-killer role they were designed for. Vasari Skirmisher: A passive ability (range 100
Against the AI, the best strategy is to fortify one world that it likes to attack, use all the tactical slots. Make sure there is a phase jump distruptor. When they attack, your defenses and fleet will eventually make them retreat and the phase distruptor gives ou time to destroy as many ships as possible. Immediately after, attack the planet that the AI retreated to. Their fleet will be damaged and that will outweigh the home-turf advantage. Against a human, do what the AI

The advent have an advantage in planet bombing because of research and the provoke hysteria ability. the way i see the factions ideal roles are that the advent slowly gain power until they are vir
Rnick, to be safe i would go for a 1000 watt PSU, it may be overkill, but what you have are rather powerful components and you DO NOT want to risk starving them for power or blowing them by over-extending a lower rated PSU. Also, watts are not what is ultimatley important, Check the Amps too. Look for enough amps on the 12v rail and make sure it has enough connectors for both of your cards. Finally, your cards will get mighty hot depending on what you are planning on playing,
As I remember it, the PS2 had an odd setup with synchronized CPUs, and even Sony had trouble emulating it on the PS3. The advent have an almost unfair advantage, i don't know what you mean "no research that is very helpful" They can increase the damage output of their fleet by tons with enough research, and the Halcyon's amplify energy aura, thats 35dps for a destra, and 32 for an illum. And if you find the kinetic intensifier artifact... the game is over. I used to play mainly TEC cause of the economy, but i recently started with the advent and i've been destroying fleets twice
Don't worry about if your windows situation, the worst that will happen is it will tell you that you need to activate windows again, just call microsoft and explain you got a new mobo. I recently replaced my mobo and windows didnt care, nothing changed about my installation. You should be able to use your hard drive that has windows on it, at least, it worked for me. For CPU cooling, Anything from Arctic cooling is good. I am not very familiar with coolers for the AMD soc
i like these ideas, but i think the advent and tec could use a little work. but we should do stuff like this! Which trapped my fleet on the other side of the map in hostile territory, then they blew up all my planets [e digicons]x_x[/e] </
I see a starship as more of a mobile base for your fleet, it would have abilities to repair nearby ally ships and allow your ships to escape a losing battle with fewer losses. In itself it would not be a heavy combat ship, but with massive shield and health reserves, so it wouldn't be a pushover. Maybe planet bombardment weapons, maybe colonization abilities, but slow. Slow enough to not make it a viable pursuit vessel. A starship of this size would basically be the fla

What blackurtain said. What card you get really doesnt matter if your system cant use all of its power. Also, what resolution do you play at? it may be possible to get a cheaper card that will perform just as good at your gaming resolution (if it is low enough). And if your slot is an AGP slot, well that sort of sucks, it might be better to save up for a new motherboard in that case. If you do have a PCI-E slot though, you can probably get by for awhile with a
I would say go with the 9600 just cause of "the way its meant to be played", the cards are tuned for good performance in a lot of games while ATI cards have to make up for that with raw power. You said you only play Oblivion and Sins, so there isnt too much of a difference for you in those games, but ATI does not have a very good reputation with driver support. It really is a personal choice, and my opinion might be a little biased since i am an nvidia fanboy, but i'd go with a 1
