Its only theft if its being used to make money. If it is being used to mod legally speaking developers don't have a leg to stand on if they can't show that they directly had a loss because of what you did... which is exactly what you would be doing if you took the data from rebellion and gave it to people for free/cheap via a mod for diplomacy. Why would you want to hurt a game company that is actually doing something right? Its hard enough to

Yeah you should totally be able to steal enemy superweapons, imo. That would be pretty sweet, counter advent with their own culture guns. I wonder if advent get incentives to actually build their superweapons... perhaps you never will get the chance to do this in a multiplayer game.
Yeah that would be a really nice way spice up the game(2 or more gravity wells in close proximity, moon(s) and planets), yet I would expect something like this more in SoaSE 2. Methinks the engine would need to be fundamentally reworked to allow for this. Definately something to look forward to as a future experience.
well it has the same flight pattern as strike craft, yet you don't see all the collisions because most of the time you are zoomed out.
Great Idea OP. Big ships need even bigger repairs :). Also you can actually buy yourself time from constant titan attacks and make corvettes useful at the same time.
Yes there has been a lot of balance work done on rate of assault for the endgame so that it becomes a slugging fest to see who's strategy pans out. The corvettes do in some way buy you time, yet they do not buy you enough time considering their costs in production time, micromanagement, lack of military effectiveness at delaying an opponent and in game resources. Your titan can still bomb a few planets out with no support having a hundred or so of these on it at all times.&n
Well, give moons a more unique naming system. A moon should be small enough for some space entrepreneurs to purchase them. Having moons named "dave's pitt stop" with flashing lights would be interesting and bring a more personal feel to each of the races. So lets examine the scenario: Daves pitt stop is under attack!!! Commander: Men, we must protect Dave's moon at all costs, their corndogs are to die for and those advent bastards won't
The problem here is that it not sensible. Look Titans have been billed as the new endagme sine they where announced. This whole titan rushing clearly isn't intended. Corvettes are meant to slot into your early game fleet. No these fleets don't exist right now, i know. But in the context of those old LRM + Flak spam fleets they could be a lot more effective, (i'm going through the corvette data files right now btw to try to figure out their strengths and weaknesses).
no clue as of yet, developers are probably reading till their eyes bleed and figuring out what needs to be done. Maybe next week it will be an new race.
Yeah i was just thinking about self respawn via antimatter, that could be an elegant solution.
I don't mind paying for this game. I know i'm going to end up buying it for a few other friends of mine as well ( the poor bastards). All I know is that once they have charged my card it means they will have to ship the game at some point, makes me happy!
Hey no need to apologize you didn't offend me. Trust me, if you've read some of the threads where people have offended you would know very well. I just broke out the definition copy/paste because the way you used arbitrary really was confusing as it could have gone a lot of ways. I just want to facilitate clear communication. That being said, I don't like hard unit caps either. Reducing poly counts isn't very tough, especially if its for ships t
well every faction needs to be agressive for an effective defense. For example, the TEC loyalists can be extremely aggressive with their titan and this provides them with the time to provide a strong defense/economy at home. The advent and vasari titan super abilities that i discuss have been in a few press releases, as well as being verified by that reverse engineering thread that was posted/removed a few days ago. It would make sense to me that the loyalists would be t
hmm interesting...culture as a fleet defense, I like it! The thing is the advent rebel titan has abilities similar to your suggestion.
Now none of us know all the new little tricks that the other races have up their sleeves, yet i think that there will be one glaring issue. TEC have easy to reach superweapons. Vasari have planet eating titans. All factions are able to turtle very well with titans + starbase + fleet, and all will be able to get an economy rolling. This means that when planets do get attacked they won't last very long against a large fleet. In my humble opinion, advent need
Well yes Dirty, that is also a choice that could be made. I feel that it would be unpopular with the developers as they have most likely spent a lot of time on designing and incorporating them into the game. I would say that if corvettes stay as is they are irrelevant and it would be better they weren't in the game at all.
The problem with this idea is that you will have the "corvette spam" made irrelevant because to maintain balance you will have to cut from some ability so that you don't have the "spam corvettes to beat anything scenario". In the real world, ship designs that don't favor specialization become irrelevant faster over time, so that is why they design ships around a single certain capability. Aircraft carriers aren't fitted with big guns because they aren't nee
1). The construction of corvettes is still essentially unlimited -- you're just building them in batches of 10 instead of individually. Consequently, processors would still be chugging over the number of polygons. 2). The need to implement reinforcement mechanics for corvette squadrons would be problematic if they didn't have a host, whereas worthwhile reinforcement mechanics already exist for strike craft. Again: the idea of this thread is to lim
My guess would be at least a few weeks. They're getting a TON of great data and feedback from this beta.
awesome, glad to help :)
Should the moons gain a buff specific to themselves like they draw in smaller ships to themselves and kill them(like the scouts and corvettes only) since our moon controls the tides on Earth. Just a fun thought so players that are unwary learn to micro manage fleets better
Lol i think this a bit OP as a planet...perhaps a black hole that at the same time causes space time distortion that knocks out engines and sucks fleet into it.&
oh my bad on the who's who details, Sorry dudes i don't work with you :). It was good to see a face though, you should give yourselves more exposure as you guys are rock stars, imo.
LETS JUST BE NICE AND CONGRAGULATE EVERYONE THAT WORKS ON THIS AMAZING BETA!!!!
We are being nice...the devs asked for feedback and we are providing it.
Goa and Pbhead, corvettes countering titans is not an assumption, its a suggestion. As it is corvettes need a bit of work to be made effective at SOMETHING. From what games i've played I have seen no use for them at all, since you need every bit of firepower you can muster to take out a titan. I played against specter today where his ankylon took sustained dps from a starting swarm of 56 LRM and 15 LF and I had feed from two factor
make corvettes like a fighter squad that only replenishes in a friendly gravity well. They replenish at a 50% rate when enemies are in the gravity well. They would only have an initial cost and they wouldn't be a really good first investment as they could be retreated and replenished for free. This would make them better against titans as well, since you wouldn't have to deal with massive attrition losses if you just retreat the squad of corvettes before it gets wi
Corvettes as they are create a lag problem online that will be exploited. We are saying corvettes should have a way to ASIST in countering titans. As it is they don't do enough for their cost (and i'm factoring lag into this cost). Titans should be able to be brought down through good fleet coordination, and having corvettes that help a fleet tie them down and weaken their defenses would be a very big help in dealing with them. Also, here is an updated idea
