Just had a thought, what if you make a "CapitalShip" that has the starbase specs? I dont know if you could still get the tradeport or cultural upgrades, but it would level, and it might be closer than a "frigate". Just a thought, -Teal

:) Lots of mods! Lots of Hard Work from the Devs putting 22 updates in two years into this game! The solo single players have great fun either making or downloading custom maps from other players. And local lan games or online multiplayer where the best of the best play very hard indeed! Some are well... rough around the edges, but some mp'ers everywhere are a little rough. Many are very cordial and polite and will give what they get, meaning dont drop games in the middle for no r
:) Sounds very very cool!! Will have to give it a try, Looks from the artwork and the hard work, like a beautiful mod. :) Congratulations Tesla!! Take care, -Teal
:) I wonder what would happen if you gave the Militia, maybe even the Pirates (Oh My!!) a colony ship and a few extractors and a handful of "researchable" abilities? :) Haha, it might shake things up, just as you are saying. Of course i'm probably off from what your idea is about if you want spies and insurgent chaos, :) But a handful of small added playable Militia "factions" that make their own small empires might be very very very cool indeed! :)
Good Ideas Fulcon, keep 'em coming and we can all give them a try, or approximations of them in mods. It seems to me a mod can be anything, and that is a good thing. It doesnt limit ideas, and it many times makes the game more enjoyable by lots of other people. Just look around and see all the mods all ready out there, all dreamed up and started by people with dreams and ideas, that wanted to see something "new" or "different" or wanted to turn Sins into something that they thought would be c
Hi, I recently updated my XL Planets for Vanilla Sins 118.1 and was still somewhat sorrowful that i still hadn't yet gotten close to what the original idea was, which was to create planets the size of stars and stars that were massive. I wanted to recreate something along the lines of "real", haha, well... grand ambitions aside, i ran into difficulties, mainly getting the size up to much resulted in the grav wells producing a huge slowdown in
:) About 6 months or so ago i discovered a large planet mod by a modder named Cybdevil, he is german i believe or austrian, or swiss, and made very realistci meshes for larger planets that he made. It was fantastic. :) Since then i believe Tohklidan has updated the mod to Celestial Bodies, with Double and Triple Stars, dwarf moons and such, it also is fantastic. Well, some of the basic planets in the game weren't changed originally from the normal size. Wha
:) Way Cool!!! Haha :) You know, sometimes, well... haha, most of the time, its the "atmosphere" things that i like the most in a game, or anything for that matter, even paintings are cool, or films depending on the lighting and the style or atmosphere created by the set people. In this case made by the Devs of course. Makes the difference between a cool game that is fun to play, and an awesome game people remember for the attention to detail and the other effects
:) Very very nice idea!!! I like it!! More elegant than creating 3 (well actually 5, i had normal, aggressive, defensive, research and economic) copies of everything. :) Very nice!! When you get it done, may i take a look at your mod? I think it would be very cool to play. Nice thinking there!!! :) -Teal
:) I found it, but will have to look up the link again, will do that tonight after school and pop back (i hope i dont forget, sorry) but basically what you do is this: create a frigate, take the guts of a frigate entity and trade out the hudicons, smallicons, and mesh and exhaust particle effects from your starbase. The abilities for the actual starbases i had to modify somewhat to get them to work in the converted "frigate", up the values of course for hull, shield, weapons,
:)
Yes, My mistake, I should have said 1.181. :) It works. :) -Teal
This has been updated and tested. I have reduced the original oversized meshes down to 75% of what they were. The planets are still large, but now the jump behaviour of the ships and the phase lane angles are much closer to normal This is the link for mediafire XL Planets for 1.191 Vanilla Sins :) -Teal p.s everything else is normal, just changed the planets. :) link: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=a22f5e99ab508
:) Well... i don't know if i would call myself a modder, maybe a file tweaking/resizing/experimentalist maybe, :) But this sounds like a wonderful idea to bring all the available knowledge into one place for everyone to see, use and learn or post to. :) Thanks for a superb idea! -Teal
:) Very Interesting Amish, I always like your analyses, you put a lot of thought and experience into them. Anyway, im not a multiplayer, so im not as prone to run into some of these things, the AI acts a little different, but its nice for my continuing education in how fleets are built to best use against other kinds of fleets. As always thanks for the interesting info, -Teal
:) pretty cool stuff, huh? Haha, i feel stupid, but it is very very cool camera thing.
:) Pretty cool, huh? :) Oh, yes, i knew about zooming and rotating, just not the Camera Enable Twist thing. As NHD-151 said, its pretty awesome. :) -Teal
:) ok, will do, i will let you know what i think, :)
:) pretty cool stuff. :)
WOW! By Teal_Blue Posted November 8, 2009 7:54:56 PM Hi, I would like to say, even after playing for a year, which makes me feel sorta dense, because i didnt try it and didnt know about it and had no clue, that the User Inface Menu, that lists
Hi, I would like to say, even after playing for a year, which makes me feel sorta dense, because i didnt try it and didnt know about it and had no clue, that the User Inface Menu, that lists Camera Enable Twist, is FABULOUS!!! :) Sorry to yell, its just everything gets turned on its side and it looks, just like, or almost like the real thing, i mean you dont see this kind of thing in games usually, they give you
:) Also with galaxydef file, but the two, galdef and gameplay.constants. There are tricks like the "spawn" ability that alter behaviour, but isnt really in a config file. Other abilities may as well, but that is an estimate at this point. As far as having the AI use more resources? I'm not sure, except to say i have seen the AI also not use what they had, in the same way a human player would. I have been trying to get the Pirates to have Capitals, but haven't worked it out
:) Sounds good.
:) I understand, np. As for the mod that had "jumping" starbases, :) It was mine, StarFall for Entrenchment 1.03 i believe. Its on FileFront. I will look for the link and edit this post and put it in. -Teal
:) Glad it was useful, I would like to take a look at it later, take care, -Teal
