Im surprised by the move but tbh it always confused me about what they could possibly do with a 3rd expansion. adding more fleets/firepower to the game would undo anything done in Entrenchment. I would have liked more in-depth capital ship battles (subsystems etc.) but alas. You also have to remember the game's road map for microexpansions was pre-recession. Something had to give. Stardock has had to adapt to a shifting market.

Take a look at Time of Defiance - google it, its free to play now. It got me thinking. Because the 2 games have a little in common. What if there was a similar multiplayer version of sins? Wherein, you and a group of your friends could set up a game and have it run remotely. You could log in and log out as you please. No sync errors (remote host) - youd have to make star travel a bit longer, increase lane distances, etc. and thered be a little mor
Well then why arent they where I placed them earlier?
So I got around to buying it today. I like waiting, generally, because the first couple patches work out the most annoying kinks. But I noticed 2 bugs that did bother me. The first one was Advent Mines. You'd place them, set them up, but when you go back to the planet later they are all stationed in a single file line near whatever hangar they came out of - I only tried it twice. Wrote them off, and scuttled the squads via the hangar - which still left the mines hanging
TIGER BUMP BUMP BUMP Bump Bump bump bump...
Returning Armada, Phase Stabilisers? Vasari ships might not be terribly resilient, but reinforcements can come out of nowhere, and quickly.
I would not think it would extend the length of games. you would pour as many resources into a starbase as a sizeable defence fleet, so not much new there. So, you might have The Bloody Death Star in your back yard but in order to do that, thats one less fleet you have working for you, meaning your chances to expand and redeploy to defend your fringe worlds diminishes.
Reminds me of that Starcraft ladder match my brother played. He got raped, but got his engineering bay and a lone wraith out of harms way. So Captain Mike as he quickly became known managed to perform misleading hit and run tactics for over an hour, protecting the super secret hiding place of the EngiBay. It was fun flying in the blindspots of the enemy's patrol-grid.
Unfair was fine when I was playing Systems of War but then you'd only be dealing with 3 players over 5 star systems, not 8 in 2.1 systems.
I tried playing Hyperion Gates 4 or 5 times now: twice on Unfair, thrice on Hard, and it is exceedingly difficult. One of the biggest issues I had was that some of the starting positions are slightly more exposed than others. I eventually gave up and took it down to normal to get my bearings, and found that on normal its easy enough to keep them from attacking you with a little diplomacy and a strong economy ranking. On Hard or Unfair, youre simply fecked.
we did this once in galaxy forge for shits and giggles. We put 5 star systems on top of eachother, and needless to say, the engine did not like rendering 90 tactical grids at the same time.
pause can help you in time critical game maneuvers by allowing you to issue a quick chain of commands that would otherwise take you many times longer running normally. As for the Unfair: Come on. They had Icons that show you. Its like Halo's legendary, it has the skull and the swords and everything? Same principle here.
I have an office machine in a bedroom that has the 4850 in it :D and then I have the laptop that has the 8400M GS in it :( but nonetheless, both are quite playable. My situation being when the bedroom is in use, I have to play Sins on the lappy, or when the game gets late in, I much prefer to view the battles on the 22" widescreen with full settings. I'm just wondering if theres a simple, no bullshit way so that when I save my game on one machine, it can be immediately loaded
What was being said about the egg earlier, I fully agree. The AI should cop on that its not being allowed to charge up its jump cycle and shift tactics.
thay are definitely the beefiest frigate ship in the game, require lots of resources to build, and 20 supply. That, and they remind me of the Mummy-Raptors from Zone of the Enders. Yay. You have to do something to them though. Im too much in love with the enhancements though so you shant take my 3 squads away from me. Instead, they need to be made much more vulnerable. A sharply reduced level of shielding and armor might to the trick. The fuckers really do take too long to kill. Even
"I'm looking for a T-14 Hyperdrive Generator."
Even better if it keeps the same engine and combat mechanics.
I approve. More of this sort of thing.
Or the Advent Carrier that us increasing the firing rate of every ship in his fleet.
I move that the development team construct an even deadlier level of AI, or better yet, give the end user the tools to create their own AI opponent profile.
youre forgetting they have a lot of shortfallings too. For instance, sure, they can pretty much ignore the Advent's superior shielding, but then again Advent can bring a (now even more so with 1.1) a ridiculous amount of strike craft to the battle. They really arent a race built to be on the defensive, unlike the TEC. Phase missiles seem to make up for their less-than-flashy strike craft technology. I mean I could almost make the same argument about the illuminator as y
problem with online play is it isnt actually casual enough. you pretty much have to commit an afternoon or an entire evening to play out a game of sins. whereas offline I can play the same game on and off for a week as the mood takes me. which is usually only for about an hour at a time Should They prioritise inhibitors? Yes, when they are retreating, or planning to retreat. In fact, they should have the option to abandon their squadrons, who will continue to make attac
it depends. youd have to be more specific. Defense Turrets will suspend all other attacks in order to give priority to Seige Frigates, for instance.
Does anyone else feel warm and fuzzy inside when Stardock folks come on the forums to help resolve problems such as this? I enjoy this company immensely.
Aye - Valve's major shortfall. Have you emailed Amazon?
The maps probably need to be reprocessed. As for neutral forces, and pirates for that matter, yes I would love it if they had either their own ships or Advent and Vasari ships.
