"The global economic crisis had a pronounced impact on the videogame industry in 2009, which contracted by nearly 10% year-on-year," Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said in a statement. "Ubisoft's sales were hit particularly hard, falling 18% over the full year despite a stabilization in the second half of the year, when figures came in on a par with the corresponding period of 2008-09."
Here's a hint Mr. Guillemot. The global economic crisis is not the only reason sales are

I can see every one of your points, Frogboy. My wife has a netbook for checking email and web but the damn thing does everything you mentioned. Slow to boot, force feeding updates on every app (java, adobe, windows) when all you want to do is check something quick. It's far easier and quicker to use a Blackberry, iPhone, or even an iPod touch with wireless. I just bought an iPod touch for one of my kids and that thing is SLICK! At home I'm tech support for all the PCs. If I
Current ubisoft 'unbreakable' scheme did nothing more then delay pirates for 2-5 weeks, reduces their client base and increase piriting of their titles (only option to play for people without stable connection).
Yep. This is the problem in a nutshell. I don't just ignore new Ubi PC titles, I refuse to buy for any other platform or any back catalog titles until they change their mind. No one wins. Meanwhile pirates keep pirating their games.
Probably my biggest issues right now are with the UI and fleet management; both feel a bit cumbersome and need to be streamlined and/or made more user-friendly.
Heads up! A new update for Distant Worlds is up. Lots of changes to fleet management. Here's the update post . "Among the major im

Correct me if I'm wrong but if pirates are on in a single player FFA then don't they just attack you, the player? I don't think it's even worth getting into bidding as the pirates will be coming for you anyway. It would be better to spend the money on a garrison.
Star Wars: Battlefront.
[e digicons]k3[/e] Me TOO! The original is the best. Though I would've liked to see Renegade Squadron ported from PSP to a console or PC. My daughters and I waste hours playing split screen on the PS2. We never got into BF2 like we did the first one.

I take reviews with a grain of salt. I have my own likes and dislikes. For example God of War. I am not interested in it AT ALL. But it's very popular and people seem to like it. If I were to review it my score would reflect my personal taste.
It seems you didn't even play some of these games . Warzone's path finding was horrible and Total Annihilation's path finding completely broke down the more units you had on the battle field.
The games I listed can save a skirmish with the AI in mid game. 2 of the games listed are over 10 years old and they can save. It's seems I didn't even play those games listed? How do you conclude that from what I posted? As far as Warzones path finding goes. Yeah it can be
That's actually a pretty hard question to answer. Depending on how you play these types of games doing some things may take more clicks then others. I'd say they're about the same in that respect honestly.
I think they might play similar if Sins research and economy were set to the faster setting? Does that sound right?

I honestly like the format. It's not a review. It's two regular guys talking about a game they played and showing you how it runs. Good stuff and nice job.
That is true Mbaron. I'm sure that will get patched soon though.
Well according to GPG adding a "save in skirmish" feature is just too time consuming for them to bother with right now. But it is on a "list" of things they'd like to do someday. The "AI and pathfinding" are big issues. I wonder how Sins, Super Com/FA, Distant Worlds, Total Annihilation, Warzone 2100 were able to manage it? You mean to tell
Good initial review Martok. I also don't like the music too much, but you'll get used to it, slowly.
Really? I rather liked it. It might help to have more music and for it to me more thematic instead of random but the music is good.

Exactly! Just make it very clear what I'm buying. Don't sneek it in. Don't replace the drivers on my optical drive without giving me fair warning. Don't hide your little DRM scheme in the EULA and expect people to read it. Don't put it on your demos either you flipping morons. (Ubisoft & EA)

Sins on Easy has become harder since Trinity/Diplomacy has come out in that it is now spending it's credits. The old Easy would have an ever growing surplus of cash that it was slow to spend. Now Easy will use it's resources. If you are willing, might i suggest watching a replay of your own game. Look at what the AI is doing and compare it to what you are doing. You might be surprised at what you learn.
If the SoaSE AI doesn't cheat, then how is it able to attack with three times the amount of ships that I have, PLUS be able to defend four or five planets when I don't even have enough resources for a moderate sized force and the capability to support/defend ONE planet?
I feel like you do from time to time. But it's in the timing. Expand to an astroid and a planet, upgrade the colonies so they start making you credits then upgrade your fleet supply and fill it with ship

I'm getting beyond the point of outrage and traveling into the I don't give a s*** anymore. I'm glad my kids aren't into gaming. I'd hate to have to tell them there is no way we are ever buying into paying for demos, persistent server connections for single player games, and activation limits.
I reinstalled Pirates after watching Impulse TV , damn that was a fun game back in its day.
It does look like fun. So how does the whole TAGES thing work then? Does this mean you would have only one more opportunity to reinstall this game ever again (3 activation limit) or do they authorize and deauthorize as long as the server is up? Edit--Oops! My bad. Pirates doesn't use TAGES.
All that being said, though, I honestly don't feel it would be fair to claim Armada didn't spend enough time "in the cooker" before being released. It was a solid enough game from the get-go in my experience, and Matrix (plus the developer Ntronium) were pretty steadfast about not releasing the game too soon. I honestly don't feel like they rushed Armada out the door; that's just not their way of doing things. Anyway: So yes, I'm confident the same policy will be -- and is
