Thank you for the guide and for directing me to it! This is just what I needed.

I can see where MP would not want that. However I'm in the midst of trying to create an "Epic" single player map with the Map Designer. I want to make the game long. I'd like the AI(s) to have to work a little before it decided to attack me. Of course I'll try a smaller map first to see if I like it or not.
I just installed it and now my game doesn't work! Any one else have this problem???
This patch didn't invalidate my saves. However when I loaded an old save it mini dumped right away. So I delete my old saves.
The new Diplomacy patch is out now as of noon Feb 18.
I've had Sins for over a year and I'm only now trying this? [e digicons]:X[/e] In the Map Designer you can adjust the Neutral Colony slider back and forth on planets. In the red zone you will get your regular neutral colonies. They will just have your average defenses like a few frigates. Go ahead and slide that sucker over to the green and those neutral colonies will be dug in like little ticks and have 4 or 5 gauss guns, hangers with about 4 squads, and about 50% more frigates.
Trinity must be creating quite a few new Stardock customers seeing as most of the Stardock strategy titles are at the top of their sales for this week.
And here is the BINGO quote! "We've all seen again and again that you can't stop the piracy scene from cracking your game and distributing it, free of DRM. But you can stop the people who love your games from downloading it, and you do that by making the retail experience better - not worse ." Ubisoft? Can I introduce you to Stardock? Sure you let them distribute your games but you really need to talk to them about the mistake you're about to make.
Ubisoft might as well have had you have to come to their office to have to play it. At least then you could slap the shit out of the management everytime the server hiccuped.
Ha! That would be awesome. [Slap] I can dream [slap] The other problem I see is wireless connectivity. Most of the time it's fine and reconnects. Now imagine that happens during your game, before you save. Oops! Bad bad bad idea. This is worse than TAGES. When will the DRM insanity
The new manual_diplomacy.pdf has "Starting a new Empire" on page 82 that gives good tips on what to build and upgrade.

It looks flipping epic. I hope it's Win7 compatible. I also hope I can turn "space monsters" off.
Good one! I'm surprised it didn't explode when it came out of phase space.
Cap their upper armor and HP and give them a KOL battleship in exchange. [e digicons][/e]
Because by definition, a 32-bit Windows program only sees 2GB. Period.
Question. If you have 2GB of RAM then what would be a good setting for the pagefile size? I know people could go 'round and 'round about this answer but what would you recommend Frogboy?
I didn't know a cell could link in a message. Cool!

Here is a link to a comment made by a programmer about Ubi's new DRM http://techdirt.com/article.php?sid=20100127/2100117954#c208 I was going to just put some key points here but the whole post is too relevant. If folks don't like the length I'll edit it out and you can go to the link.
As a 15+ year game developer I honestly understand all the desires behind such an idea. It is m
Like ships tha can hijack frigates They tried this during beta and it was scrapped.
Dang! Too bad that didn't work out. I always thought it'd be cool to see various hijacked ships from all races in a pirate fleet. Imagine a KOL with all the pointy spikes and pirate flag on it. That would look wicked.

Yes. The expansions build on each other. So you can play Original Sins or Sins plus Entrenchment or Sins plus Entrenchment plus Diplomacy.
I would think they would. Star Blazers was popular. I like the shot of the Yamato firing it's point defenses.
Could we launch colony ships without civilians? Sometimes I'm shuttling people from a full world to a less populated world and I'd like to not need to put "1" on the ship just to send it back to pick up more people.
That was a nice little surprise wasn't it? Thanks Stardock/Ironclad.
Was there sound to this and I missed it?
Yep. The beta is closed.
