Most people that have had any experience with KoK/Sire know he is full of crap. He talks more crap than he can actually pull off. Everyone knows what he is going to do(kodiak rush) and beats him pretty easily. It's really kind of sad that he clings to something that is so easily countered to the exclusion of learning to do anything else. If he doesnt want to cry to the developers for help then thats his business. He hasn't taken the help offered to him by anyone

[quote who="CaptainAanderson" reply="7" id="2341862"] Quoting Darvin3, reply 5 Honestly, nothing is in the same league as the illum/guardian/progen combo right now. Not even missile barrage; lest anyone forget, a mid-game Advent fleet can tank missile barrage, easily. I only ever beat a mature Advent fleet in one of three ways: significantly outnumber them (more than 2:1) with a (well upgraded) starbase with my own fleet of

Advent economy IS the mothership. It is great to have the discounts because the advent need them. They don't have early trade ports or pervasive economy like tec. They don't get neutrals and combined extraction research like vasari. Advent get the mothership. It isn't the quickest economy by any means. Having the mothership does give cheap upgrades that are ok at first and very worthwhile at level 3 but that doesn't mean instant cash. If anything

I play advent exclusively and have never been banned or otherwise blocked from playing a game. Advent aren't unbeatable. I should know. I have lost many games and the majority of those have been to vasari rather than another advent. I am not saying advent aren't tough in the right hands but so is any race in the right hands. An advent can tank missle barrage but its never an easy thing. Shield restore at level 3 heals 500 shield over 8 seconds and missle ba

Kostura is the best. With a few of these you can destroy a fleet. It also stuns buildings and units and allows ships to jump straight to that grav well. As has been mentioned, novalith can be stopped by SB. It does however still damage the planet's population so i guess the hw income would take a hit with it. Deliverance engine is crap. It is a 25 percent bonus to weapons and not 15 percent. Rarely do you ever see one built in multiplayer. I

[quote who="N3rull" reply="3" id="2321701"] Take a clock and see how long it will take an orky to go around a planet. Two siege frigs can take turns in shooting and running and kill the planet. Two lvl1 caps will, easily. You said the owner of the orky is a fool (i.e. deserves to lose) if he didn't get Enforced Loyalty. But my argument was JUST THAT. A fully battle-upgraded orkulus is totally useless. So -> what mindseye said was wrong. Being capable of fie

A 1v1 is no better to compare such things than a 5v5. 1v1 is typically played on a small map where fights are smaller. Kostura is a late game weapon and comes about late game. 1v1 does not get to that point. A kostura CAN counter a SB. You should remember the stun component on it. It stuns units for a short time and stuns buildings for a longer period(cant remember how long for buildings) and does a small but not negligeable amount of damage. A stun o

It should also be mentioned that the fake ones pop before the refresh is finished. There is a time when there are only real illums there(120 sec fake illums and 180 sec refresh). They generally all go off at the same time so its not staggered to throw you off. It pops 2 fake illums for every real illum(not just 1). They can be identified easily as mentioned already. Moving or not shouldnt matter because you can use the empire tree which they are at the bottom of

Ogrovs or starfish are brittle and easily run over by an orkulus. If you brought much of anything at all with the SB, the anti structure units are just so much wasted money. Bombers are the only halfway useful way to take down a SB. A fleet dies too easily and feeds health the orkulus with proper upgrades unless you have a much more overwhelming fleet. Bombers are chewed up pretty quickly by even light fighter presence leaving you with lit

Ya. It is sounding like things were left out. Did he have meteor too along with disorient? Disorient really screws with kodiaks and such anyways. I have said before if you are fighting illums and repulse with kodiaks(especially 60+) then you deserve to lose them. The advent player will wipe the floor with you if he is halfway decent because your kodiaks wont really be able to fire a shot. Doubly so if they were mass disoriented. The advent player woul

Pirates can be a good idea to distract or do damage to a player while you are attacking elsewhere. It is also conditional on what world you predict that they will hit. If that world is a halfway fortified world(ie starbase or even a repair and a few turrets), then pirates are just wasted money and even worse feeding cap exp to the enemy. Pirates that hit a world you are currently contesting just get in the way(they tend to shoot at whatever is around including you if you are

I will agree that things are not ideal. Things were closer with 1.1 in my opinion. LRF were not king then. Carrier spam could be dealt with. The only problem I had then was that no one made much of bombers or flak. Flak did need a bump then. I could see a problem if fighters were returned being that vasari SB would be even worse to kill due to too much fighter cover for bombers to be much good. I don't claim to know what the answer is. In your proposal, you are nerfing illums twice and basically taking 33% of their total health(shields and hp combined) rather than 25 percent. Most of this is hull reduction. I fear this would add too much to the vasari in that they have so much stuff that is phase missle. A blanket lrf nerf(all 3 races) would be more appealing but I am still a proponent of returning carriers/fighters to the limelight to counter lrf problems. [_]-Greyfox

Not every clanner smurfs but it sure seems like almost everyone else does. I rarely see anyone on my friend list anymore but they turn up on one smurf or another regularly. Wish you all would use one name and be done with it so I don't have to remember whose smurf is whose. I at least never smurf. All it does is screw up teams and leads them to being stacked. It doesn't seem like much fun to stack a team but ohhh well. [_]-Greyfox

I disagree with quick start taking away the econ tree. I use the econ tree since quick start a lot more than I did with previous normal starts. I generally don't build either lab until I know whats around me anyways but back previously I would build military labs before seeing anything. With quick start I can choose to brace for a rush, econ, or rush myself because I am not hemmed into doing just one thing because before I had to be prepared very quickly for a vasari rushing

Orkulus rarely has antimatter to detonate and its rare that one is built as the first cap anyways. Unless you have a semi-large fleet sitting there when the SB is started(generally not produced by the time you are SB rushed), the SB finishes being built just fine and usually gets in at least 1 upgrade. Its a risk but generally not that big of one. If its accompanied with a handful of assailants and an egg then they can just pick off your fleet as it tries to take down the bi

Repulse with Iconus guardians backed with illuminators or bombers is a great counter to any HC spam as well. Nothing screws with King of Kings/Sire......I mean kodiak rushers more than repulse with illums. [_]-Greyfox

The map in general dictates a lot of times who wins and who loses especially in skilled games. Even small differences in layout or the militia defense can mean a win or a loss. Randomness is a good thing because it makes you adapt to the condition but it doesn't make you feel any better when you lose because of it. A vasari player hinges on how many neutrals there are on a map indeed. It would be nice if people played more preset maps rather than random so the map-scre

Personally I like having quickstart. It does hurt a vasari rushing in the first 5 minutes or so but that is not such a bad thing. Everyone gets the same bonus so its not like they are treated unfairly. It just removes the ability of a vasari thats within 2 jumps hw to hw from capitalizing on a 1 lab LRF because with quick start everyone can have LRF or whatever pretty quickly out of the gate. Don't underestimate saving 10-20 minutes on a game that can last overly long

It should be kept in mind when choosing whether to upgrade or not how much it is worth to you. Most weapon, armor, shield upgrades are 5% increases in power. This means that you have to have 20 of said ship for an increase to equal 1 ship worth of power. You should ask yourself if buying another ship is a more efficient way of increasing your power or buying the upgrade instead. The cheaper upgrades are obviously more efficient at doing this. Weapon upgrades are

Repulse does not outrange everything. All LRF except illums outrange push. Strike craft is not affected by push at all. Repulse does outrange subverters though and it does outrange the antimatter destroying LF abilities. Of course HC does not outrange repulse by a long shot. Whether you want to admit it or not, even illums and repulse is not unstoppable. I play exclusively advent and use both a lot and believe me I do lose a good amount. Unstoppable i
