Thank you for your well written, thoughtful, and informative post Moo Sephei! All of us are better people having read it. I eagerly look forward to your next important contribution to this forum and specifically this thread.
So.... you are calling someone other than yourself a name caller in this thread. And you can't find any valid points why not to z-axis in game? I'm thinking you've only been looking at your own posts and ignoring everyone else's.
I didn't think it possible but your petty and arrogant attitude is quickly earning you a special place in my heart right normally reserved for JakeMac.
Homeworld was actually 3D in its battle environment, sins is not. The only thing you are convincing people here of is to never play with you. Grow up.
An exploit is an unintended use of game mechanics. The fact that SB can't target vertically and that gravity well defenses can only be built on the 2d plane of the well make it an unfair and unrealistic advantage that should not be used. That and 99.9% of the MP player base agrees it should not be used. See there, I made a point and didnt even have to resort to second grade level name calling. You should try it.
The z axis is an exploit, this is well established.
Ya I think SD would put out a very quality product, and like Bison says a lot of people who worked on Cataclysm (the best HW by far) are at IC/SD now. It's a perfect fit.
You got that idea from your avatar.
Cataclysm was far ahead of HW or HW2 in terms of gameplay, fluidity, and sheer fun, and the title as a whole broke new ground in amazing ways for strategy gaming. The balance between the two factions was off in multiplayer (beast players had a rough time against certain Kiith strats) but I for one would absolutely love to see a new game in this series done right. I have no doubt you SD employees can't comment (especially if you actually are pursuing this) but I'd be inte
Can't wait! Will use this forum and the one on the tourny site to try to schedule my matches. Good luck to all!
i apologize to everyone. ive been a douch lol.
Reading, try it sometime.
I think making envoys invulnerable while in friendly grav wells would help as well. Some of those planet bonuses are nice but useless when the ship lives exactly 35 seconds into an engagement.
Assuming patches remain in the future for this game and not just the past, I humbly suggest that this game could gain a ton of strategic depth if diplomacy (the research tree and in game function, not the expansion) was made viable in MP again. I do not believe that this is ever going to be possible by simply offering "stat boosts" thru pacts. These end up either being too minimal to be worth the fleet support and research costs, or so OP they damage the balance of the gam
It's working now, thanks reflex and great work setting this up!
This is true, I usually lead with a skinny, unless I'm in an eco position then I may use the egg. I certainly don't lead with 8 of them though lol.
Um... reflex I registered at the site but there doesn't seem to be anywhere to actually sign up for the tourny itself. Do you have to open registration or something?
Srsly though, I like this idea. I'm a fan of 1v1s and I'm happy to put my record on the line against anybody (and I know there are many that can beat me, but I love a good challenging game). Signing up.

That's pretty harsh. He just recognized what he's been doing and apologized, you don't need to be a jerk to him. It's a game, and he isn't responsible for your enjoyment of it. If you don't want to play with him then don't, insulting isn't helpful. There is only one person I refuse to play with and that's Jakemac, partly because of his attitude and mostly because he admitted to doing something to cause minidumps in games.
Breaks can certainly help if its a constant problem, and believe me I would rather have you on my team than a LOT of other players. Quitting prematurely though can really dent that, as well as your in game attitude. A game should be fun, and MP RTS's like this appeal to us problem solvers who like to pit our wits against others and test our ability to make good decisions under pressure. Remember, single games are single games, but you are always making a reputation for
If it's a such an emergency you can't take 15 seconds to tell people you need to pause (and this is if you know it won't take more than 5 minutes) then take the loss, a stat point isn't worth the rudeness to other players to expect them to sit around staring at a frozen screen not knowing how long the person will be gone or even why they paused in the first place.
Noob we've played together several times, and generally you know what you are doing, perhaps your problem is you have a very hard time seeing past whatever immediate problem is facing you or the group. Patience and determination are the answer and I'm not sure you can get either from anything someone is going to tell you on this forum. Just a note on number 7: I hope you don't consider me a noob, but during a game a few weeks ago I was facing Howthe an
I think the duration is for the cost reduction, but it IS written very ambiguously, as if to suggest the planet reverts back to its original owner after that amount of time.
Thou dost starbase too much, good sir!
