I don't think you are looking for game advise at all. I think you are looking for any opportunity to explain to everyone why you are a victim.

At the risk of being a completely insensive jerk: get a job. Our country is going bankrupt right now. When it does there won't be any money for anyone. At all. You'll be left with what you yourself can produce by your own hands. Depending on government is the path to slavery and to undoing our way of life. Now that I've said that.... ya TEC Rebels are great, I've recently given up on Vasari (used to play them exclusively) and I'
I think we need to move into just one tier with several sub tiers with color coded tabs that further divide them. Ideally we could get everyone on their own tab. Or... a ladder/rating system in game with points based on strength of opponents in a given game.
Srsly though, orbitting planets and no phase lanes. You can go anywhere you want but travel time is based on distance. Also, better planet combat mechanics (landing parties or some such, just nuking the planet to a crisp and immediately moving in always seemed a bit silly to me, planets should actually change and carry scars from large scale battles). New ship designs to shake up the current line up would be nice but the fleet combat dynamics this game offers are among the b

Shhh Candido some of us like being underrated :-P
Thanks Yarlen! I don't think I'd call what he was doing "grief" per se but it certainly was very suspicious and I for one HATE cheaters.
So.... a cat has a pet hamster? I can't see that relationship ending well.
Just for the sake of spam, one more suggestion: The lower skilled tiers should have more people in them then the higher ones. I'd take probably 3 to 5 of the "tier 1" and move them into tier 2, and about 6 to 8 of the tier 2 and move them into tier 3.
Also, I think Candido should be tier 1. He doesn't make mistakes and always handles his business regardless of who he is facing of against. That plus he is a phenominal team player and always can be relied on at the strategic level as well as the tactical.
I disagree that JakeMac and DeceptivePanda are tier 1. Both solid players but not to the level of anyone else in that group. I know I'm picked before either of them 9 times out of 10. Not trying to build myself up here but just last night Jake used his tier 1 status as an excuse for some sort of exploit he is using (that he refused to discuss what he was doing while asking me to help him test it).
I think Huy is Jake's uncle... i remember Jake playing under Huy's name a few times before he got his own account.
Fixed, sorry for the bad formatting. It just strikes me as very odd that he is doing something that is causing the game to crash and he is asking me to help him test it, but he refuses to tell me what it is. And of course then he threatens to have me banned from skilled games for even knowing what he is doing. On a side note I find it funny that he calls himself tier 1 and claims to be the best player in Sins.
Had a strange conversation with JakeMac, thought I'd post it and get it out there in case this is some exploit he is using. <img src="http://i76.photobucket.com/alb
Gold list, not God list.
I don't rise to the level of some of the pros that have already volunteered but I do enjoy teaching and would be more than happy to spend some time mentoring someone. I'm sure a few more "book level" players would make the 5v5 skilled world that much more enjoyable and competitive.
Your sentence structure reminds me of a zergling rush. More punctuation please.
What difficulty is the AI set at? A higher difficulty setting may help. Also, setting the AI type to "aggresive" may help nudge them into attacking. I've played several games in multi-star maps with AI and as far as I've ever seen they have no problem sending fleets through wormholes or from star to star in order to attack.
I have no problem with players graduating from silly games like SC to real strategy games. The community can always use new players and ones that are willing to learn and grow are a welcome addition. Quitting is pretty rediculous though, hopefully soon they'll learn what actually constitutes a "gg" event.
Fighters dont counter Corvettes very well, too.
That has not been my experience, and as Bilun and others have pointed out there are a LOT more factors than pure carrier vs carrier in any actual game scenario that renders your conclusions questionable in value.
I think that program is called Sins of a Solar Empire
Good read, and good research! I appreciate the attempt at apples to apples here and every piece of information is useful to those that know how to put it to use. I will say, however, that fighters ARE important to build. Fighters and bombers are more or less effective at different things. Bombers have a damage bonus against larger ships (carriers for example) while fighters actually do higher damage than bombers against light frigates and corvettes.
So Dwish caught me the other day with a well executed SB rush. I'd gotten cocky and went with two civics labs at the start and so was slow to start putting out LRMs. Goes to show, you HAVE to play to the situation and not to your desire. This point alone is what separates good players from targets, and online players from single/comp stomp players. If you aren't willing to adapt you will lose.
Also, player named Multipawn merits tier 2 in my opinion. I actually knew this guy from way back when I ran a guild in Homeworld: Cataclysm (best RTS ever btw). Sound tactics, great team player, willing to learn. All the right stuff.
ShottyMonster what is your name in game? Mine is always Mr_Book. If you see me I'd be very happy to play a game or two with you and give you some pointers.
