you can be great with a regular rts and then suck at sins of a solare empire, it is rts.. but its not like the others (not the ones i've played anyway)
TheNosferatu
besides the point is that if they tell me some planet is being attacked, i know which planet they are talking about without pressing space, names i'm familiar with stay better in my memory, i have no idea where the current names are based on but they sure don't ring any bells for me >_ anyway, i got it to work (mostly) just made a simple script that lists the same amount of countries as there are starnames and dutch cities for the planets, then just copy paste the list and voil
lol, I don't think thats what what the question implies ;) i've finished them all 2 times and am working for the 3rd one now (i've resetted it after entrenchement and again after diplomacy) if you don't count space-ponies and the 'get all artifacts' its not really that hard... just time consuming :P
@wbino, I doubt it, sure they might focus more on there 'next project' but remember, this game comes from a company that has a history of patching even older games, (if i wasn't half asleep at this point i'd give you an example) No, sins is in good hands with these ppl, even if some ppl don't think its finished just yet,
@mikefacciola special is that you are so far the first person who gets attacked constantly and still haven't become a whiner :) i simply outbid the AI, its not too hard... or a starbase at the most likely target-planet does fine too, OT: instead of a slider, maybe the pirates should be the general difficulty, if there is 1 weak and 1 strong AI the pirates are moderate, if there are mostly easy AI then the pirates are easy, if there are mostly hard AI then the p
I just spend 10k paying the pirates to kick somebodies ass for me, a while before i did the same and as soon as its possible im gonna pay 20k to kick somebody else, if they don't buy upgrades from all my money then they are simply stupid, their ships should be fairly cheap because i would guess they get alot of resources from the destroyed ships so more money remains for upgrades, thus, if they are to strong.. stop paying them so darn much :D maybe that
That would seem to be the best option... I don't like it myself because I think that if the pirates are a major pain in the players butt the player is doing it wrong, but maybe thats just me, a dificulty slider would give everyone what they want, even those ppl who think it shouldnt be necesary (like me)
thats true, though im gonna use it for global settings (well without the linking of course) be nice to have planet names that actualy have a meaning for myself, maybe i'll even remember the planet names this times :P
I've set it to 2 and continued the game, the power struggle in the starting system was quite interesting to see so i continued it..
Just been playing a 5vs5 unlocked multi-star game, initialy the allied victory was off but when i loaded the game about yesterday i turned it to 5 because i didn't feel like defeating my 4 allies after i was done, so now we're done.. the other 5 players have been defeated... i have 4 allies and the allied victory is still at 5... the game still goes on, didn't got the popup which said i won or anything, whats up?
The thing about the empire tree that anoys me is that it won't stay still... it goes up and down, most of the time by just a little (meaning that instead you order your whole fleet to attack the SB you tell them to attack the construction frigate that sits right below the SB icon) so i usualy pause the game when giving (qued) orders, seeing which ships have a que order might be very handy too though,
They only place bounty if they hate ppl enough, (at leasts, that has been my observation) if they they don't really hate anybody there is no reason for them to place bounties on others, try invading one of them and see if they start placing bounty on your head (or give a mission to another player to do so)
Im pretty sure this question has been asked before.. but oh well, the problem with demanding gifts from other players is that they need to have researched the tech as well, so even though you have researched it and can give credits to others, you can only demand them if they have researched it themselves, try doing it later in the game
Alright, i'm in the progress of renaming some stuff in the English.str file and i was wondering how Sins selects these things, does it give a star / planet a random name or does it do the first name first, then the second for the second planet / star and then the 3rd etc? Also, I guess that its not possible (without some more complex modding anyway) to make specific planets go in specific stars, for example, if the start England has been made, then the planets around England would be
i'd still recommand 3 player map with 1 ally... if there are too many players a new player might get lost and finds himself to be too late for the good parties
I'm sure there is some way to make it work, but it would probably require for the whole system that makes the pirates react the way they do to be re-written, I think its better to make the pirates a specific strength and make them upgrade roughly the same speed as you, so they are always a treat yet never overpowered or simply expierence-cows, this is the way it (should) work now, and personaly i think they done it quite nicely (prior to the 1.01 patch) of course, the draw-bac
my choice of words are a bit harch, alright, very harch and maybe i should say it a bit nicer but i do think there is a fair amount of truth in it, i just seem to have said it in not the best way.
I know I shouldn't let it bother me but the arrogant attitude of some of you jerk-wads is really something. I've been playing computer games since the late 1970's and have probably logged more game hours than some of you twits have been alive. I've played Sins for eighteen months almost daily and I am no novice at the game. I know how to turn off the pirates but will not as that would violate the intent of the game. OH NOES HE HAS LOGGED ALOT OF GAMING HOU
they warn you with voice if they have a mission for you, at which you can either go right away to check it and possibly decline or wait a minute untill you have time to do so, keep an ear out for it, it also gives the tab at the top glow yellow when a new msision is offered, it just doesn't do it such a way that it becomes anoying when your into something at that specific time. not caring about penelty doesn't make the ai gang up on you, it just doesn't, i don't care about it and i do
woops, my bad, how did i stumble into this graveyard....? ill go and let it die (again) now
im guessing this has already be mentioned but im in a hurry so i didn't read every post here, so sry if this is double, a couple a things new players seem to forget (i did at first) was expansion, development and the first free capital ship, the first thing you should build is a capital ship factory and build a capital ship (first one is free) i usualy go for the ship that can colonise so i don't need a colonizer-frigate. also you should start building 2 non-miilitary research
well, i can't say i've found that hidden achievement but i do know a way for you to find out, the achievements are saved in a file, achievements.achievements or something like that, so if you reinstall the game, change the file so you've suddenly done everything on there (maybe leave an easy one out, win as tec, for example), and then start the game and go play a game of point blank being tec (for the example) against an easy AI, within an hour after reinstalling you s
sry but i doubt this would work well, since you can increase bounty whenever you feel like it you can let the pirates stay somewhere until you are happy, be it costly, the further in the game you get, the more powerfull pirates get, but if you have little bounty then suddenly you don't need to worry much because they'll leave anyway, (just send a couple a scouts and done) correct me if im wrong, but i always felt that you should always worry for pirates, if they come f
It shouldn't be too hard to add a couple a new ones.. right?
