(in general, not with reference to this game) (I play Vasari) When I'm in eco and my team isn't seriously disadvantaged, I usually prioritize expansion and planet colonization, so that I have around 6 planets 10-11 minutes into the game, and only after that (general
You should not give up your most powerful capital ship-carriers to solve a small problem like anti-matter usages and recharges on a colony frigate! Most rapid expansions require more than one colony frigate and small fleets to capture asteroids while you concentrate your capital ship(s) on planets. By small fleets i mean 2-4 scouts and 1-2 frigates. Fast expansion is also determined by how powerful your capital ship is: Mostly you ca

I find it amusing that you boast about your supposedly amazing IQ but still apparently have problems understanding that the singular I is capitalized or how to use its or it's correctly... not that I'm a grammar nazi but the contradiction there is interesting. That said, you have a point:
Stardock at times has made complicated strategy games. I can do that in a dozen MMOs that i dont play anymore because im tired of seeing who can gank faster and who can use game mechanics to the best of their advantage. AI allows me to play a slow game against a powerful enemy who is going to give me lots of fights and make every planet a battle for both sides. Instead of the train, build fleet, go gank tact

I had this same problem when I was a new player... On the bottom right there is a screen with 10 buttons for "Develop Planet" or "Attack" and stuff like that. Directly to the left of that screen, on top, is a separate button which turns autoplace structures on/off. I think that by default it's assigned to some hotkey (maybe K? maybe L?) - since you should never want to autoplace structures and don't want to be confused by being unable to manually select where to place

Because it can be used for updating and uninstalling/reinstalling it every time a new patch comes out can be tedius? Just keep it out of Startup (like I do) and you never have to see it except when you hear that a new patch is available.

You have to register the game via Impulse (now called Gamestop) which will then update your game to the newest version. http://www.impulsedriven.com/ Download it, register an account, then input your CD key for Sins, and you will be able to start updating your game. Bigger maps are easier to get setup on.

6) Your biggest problem is your map setup. The map makes all the difference in how hard it is to get started. I recommend learning to make your own maps( they are pretty easy to make) when you can. You will find the game much more enjoyable if you build maps to suit your playstyle instead of changing your playstyle to fit

Newer players also often have serious trouble with pirates.

What exactly is the problem? Can you not click on the "Host Game" button, or is it that no one can see your game once you've hosted it, or what?

Multiplayer support (better ranking system, in-game voting, anti-smurf etc.) and fixes (mini-dumps, lags) The minidups and lag [especially late game] need to be shored up. I never played big online so I'm not sure how big of a problem smurfing is, though judging by some posts it must drive some people bonkers. As for the ranking system it won't matter much if you can't retain more than 50 active players.
Agre

Especially when it gets to late game when clearly Advant and Vasari have a military tech advantage so that leaves you using eco to spam out your opponents.
I wouldn't say "huge" - it's significant but not overpowering, except in long or large games where Pervasive is an option.
