[quote who="gamerlamb" reply="22" id="3005359"]I have played mostly Private MP and SP and was thinking about trying the general MP community and had a question. Does every ICO MP game generally involve tons of rushing or will people abide self imposed rush timers? I CAN rush but I think a game is much more fun when I get to mass a huge fleet of advanced warships rather than killing you early with 2 carrier caps and a sh!t load of LRF. I typically like my games in the 1.5-2 hr range so that

Those who complain are always much more loud (per person) than those who have a good time and simply log off ICO without posting anything on the forum. Don't bash ICO based on the opinions of a biased few. It's not because they're only useful for dying: it's because fighting and putting pressure on the

Without more evidence I really think we should be giving BananaSpear the benefit of the doubt. ICO has low enough player counts already, and there's a possibility he's genuinely new to ICO (though not to MP games). Without proof, all this attacking him that you guys are doing may just make it less likely for him to come onto ICO again. The timing of his post attacking Howthe and his entrance into ICO is more than a bit coincidental with what happened with Siddy, but even still

It was a very old necro but the issue still exists. I really don't think we would lose anything if the Advent AI was simply prohibited from ever using homing mines.

By the time the initial 15 minute timer is up, I'll probably have a fairly developed empire with 5-6 planets. In that respect, I'm more than ready to repel pirates with a few good defensive tactics. In fact, in the original game being attacked by pirates is a good thing, giving me extra XP to raise the level of my capital ships. In Diplomacy, pirates g
I don't know why the devs made pirates as they are, as they can cripple newer players. That said, it isn't that hard to defend against them if you know what you're doing: a few turrets (gauss defense, for TEC) and a few repair bays should take care of most of them. The AI is pretty good about outbidding you and forcing you to take the pirate attack - this is especially true on the higher difficulties. It's very annoying. You could just turn the pirates
Another problem this creates: if your computer isn't that good, then especially if you're playing larger games, this "lag compensation" at the beginning actually creates *significantly more* CPU lag because the game is running 2x or 3x faster than normal: your computer is significantly more stressed just like when playing speeded-up replays. In a 5v5 on a relatively poor computer, this can be killer, especially if this beginning lag compensation lasts for more than a few minutes, whic
